ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
Æsaa gi▫aan beechaaræ ko▫ee.
How rare are those who contemplate this spiritual wisdom.

ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ṫis ṫé mukaṫ param gaṫ ho▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Through this, the supreme state of liberation is attained. ||1||Pause||
|
ਦਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਮਹਿ ਦਿਨੀਅਰੁ ਉਸਨ ਸੀਤ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
Ḋin mėh ræṇ ræṇ mėh ḋinee▫ar usan seeṫ biḋʰ so▫ee.
The night is in the day, and the day is in the night. The same is true of hot and cold.

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਮਝ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
Ṫaa kee gaṫ miṫ avar na jaaṇæ gur bin samajʰ na ho▫ee. ||2||
No one else knows His state and extent; without the Guru, this is not understood. ||2||
|
ਪੁਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਮਹਿ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
Purakʰ mėh naar naar mėh purkʰaa boojʰhu barahm gi▫aanee.
The female is in the male, and the male is in the female. Understand this, O God-realized being!

ਧੁਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
Ḋʰun mėh ḋʰi▫aan ḋʰi▫aan mėh jaani▫aa gurmukʰ akaṫʰ kahaanee. ||3||
The meditation is in the music, and knowledge is in meditation. Become Gurmukh, and speak the Unspoken Speech. ||3||
|
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਪੰਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਈ ॥
Man mėh joṫ joṫ mėh manoo▫aa panch milé gur bʰaa▫ee.
The Light is in the mind, and the mind is in the Light. The Guru brings the five senses together, like brothers.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਿਨ ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੯॥
Naanak ṫin kæ saḋ balihaaree jin ék sabaḋ liv laa▫ee. ||4||9||
Nanak is forever a sacrifice to those who enshrine love for the One Word of the Shabad. ||4||9||

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
Raamkalee mėhlaa 1.
Raamkalee, First Mehl:

ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Jaa har parabʰ kirpaa ḋʰaaree.
When the Lord God showered His Mercy,
|
ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
Ṫaa ha▫umæ vichahu maaree.
egotism was eradicated from within me.
|
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕਿ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
So sévak raam pi▫aaree.
That humble servant is very dear to the Lord,
|
ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
Jo gur sabḋee beechaaree. ||1||
who contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||1||
|
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
So har jan har parabʰ bʰaavæ.
That humble servant of the Lord is pleasing to his Lord God;

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਲਾਜ ਛੋਡਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ahinis bʰagaṫ karé ḋin raaṫee laaj chʰod har ké guṇ gaavæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
day and night, he performs devotional worship, day and night. Disregarding his own honor, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਧੁਨਿ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਘੋਰਾ ॥
Ḋʰun vaajé anhaḋ gʰoraa.
The unstruck melody of the sound current resonates and resounds;
|
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਮੋਰਾ ॥
Man maani▫aa har ras moraa.
my mind is appeased by the subtle essence of the Lord.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
Gur pooræ sach samaa▫i▫aa.
Through the Perfect Guru, I am absorbed in Truth.
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
Gur aaḋ purakʰ har paa▫i▫aa. ||2||
Through the Guru, I have found the Lord, the Primal Being. ||2||
|
ਸਭਿ ਨਾਦ ਬੇਦ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ॥
Sabʰ naaḋ béḋ gurbaaṇee.
Gurbani is the sound current of the Naad, the Vedas, everything.
|
ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
Man raaṫaa saarigpaaṇee.
My mind is attuned to the Lord of the Universe.
|
ਤਹ ਤੀਰਥ ਵਰਤ ਤਪ ਸਾਰੇ ॥
Ṫah ṫiraṫʰ varaṫ ṫap saaré.
He is my sacred shrine of pilgrimage, fasting and austere self-discipline.
|
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
Gur mili▫aa har nisṫaaré. ||3||
The Lord saves, and carries across, those who meet with the Guru. ||3||
|
ਜਹ ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
Jah aap ga▫i▫aa bʰa▫o bʰaagaa.
One whose self-conceit is gone, sees his fears run away.
|
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
Gur charṇee sévak laagaa.
That servant grasps the Guru’s feet.
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
Gur saṫgur bʰaram chukaa▫i▫aa.
The Guru, the True Guru, has expelled my doubts.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
Kaho Naanak sabaḋ milaa▫i▫aa. ||4||10||
Says Nanak, I have merged into the Word of the Shabad. ||4||10||

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
Raamkalee mėhlaa 1.
Raamkalee, First Mehl:
|
ਛਾਦਨੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਮਾਗਤੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
Chʰaaḋan bʰojan maagaṫ bʰaagæ.
He runs around, begging for clothes and food.
|
ਖੁਧਿਆ ਦੁਸਟ ਜਲੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ॥
Kʰuḋʰi▫aa ḋusat jalæ ḋukʰ aagæ.
He burns with hunger and corruption, and will suffer in the world hereafter.
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਲੀਨੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥
Gurmaṫ nahee leenee ḋurmaṫ paṫ kʰo▫ee.
He does not follow the Guru’s Teachings; through his evil-mindedness, he loses his honor.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥
Gurmaṫ bʰagaṫ paavæ jan ko▫ee. ||1||
Only through the Guru’s Teachings will such a person become devoted. ||1||
|
ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੈ ॥
Jogee jugaṫ sahj gʰar vaasæ.
The way of the Yogi is to dwell in the celestial home of bliss.
|
ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਏਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਭਾਇ ਸਬਦਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ék ḋarisat éko kar ḋékʰi▫aa bʰeekʰi▫aa bʰaa▫é sabaḋ ṫaripṫaasæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
He looks impartially, equally upon all. He receives the charity of the Lord’s Love, and the Word of the Shabad, and so he is satisfied. ||1||Pause||
|
ਪੰਚ ਬੈਲ ਗਡੀਆ ਦੇਹ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Panch bæl gadee▫aa ḋéh ḋʰaaree.
The five bulls, the senses, pull the wagon of the body around.
|
ਰਾਮ ਕਲਾ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
Raam kalaa nibhæ paṫ saaree.
By the Lord’s power, one’s honor is preserved.
|
ਧਰ ਤੂਟੀ ਗਾਡੋ ਸਿਰ ਭਾਰਿ ॥
Ḋʰar ṫootee gaado sir bʰaar.
But when the axle breaks, the wagon falls and crashes.
|
ਲਕਰੀ ਬਿਖਰਿ ਜਰੀ ਮੰਝ ਭਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
Lakree bikʰar jaree manjʰ bʰaar. ||2||
It falls apart, like a pile of logs. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਜੋਗੀ ॥
Gur kaa sabaḋ veechaar jogee.
Contemplate the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, Yogi.
|
ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਮ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋਗ ਬਿਓਗੀ ॥
Ḋukʰ sukʰ sam karṇaa sog bi▫ogee.
Look upon pain and pleasure as one and the same, sorrow and separation.
|
ਭੁਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
Bʰugaṫ naam gur sabaḋ beechaaree.
Let your food be contemplative meditation upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and the Word of the Guru’s Shabad.

ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕੰਧੁ ਜਪੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
Asṫʰir kanḋʰ japæ nirankaaree. ||3||
Your wall shall be permanent, by meditating on the Formless Lord. ||3||
|
ਸਹਜ ਜਗੋਟਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਾ ॥
Sahj jagotaa banḋʰan ṫé chʰootaa.
Wear the loin-cloth of poise, and be free of entanglements.
|
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਲੂਟਾ ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ gur sabḋee lootaa.
The Guru’s Word shall release you from sexual desire and anger.
|
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
Man mėh munḋraa har gur sarṇaa.
In your mind, let your earrings be the Sanctuary of the Guru, the Lord.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
Naanak raam bʰagaṫ jan ṫarṇaa. ||4||11||
O Nanak! Worshiping the Lord in deep devotion, the humble are carried across. ||4||11||
