ਤੂ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
तू सुखदाता लैहि मिलाइ ॥
Ŧū sukẖ▫ḏāṯa laihi milā▫e.
You are the Giver of peace; You merge them into Yourself.

ਏਕਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
एकस ते दूजा नाही कोइ ॥
Ėkas ṯe ḏūjā nāhī ko▫e.
Everything comes from the One and only Lord; there is no other at all.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੯॥
गुरमुखि बूझै सोझी होइ ॥९॥
Gurmukẖ būjẖai sojẖī ho▫e. ||9||
The Gurmukh realizes this, and understands. ||9||
|
ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਥਿਤੀ ਤੈ ਸਤ ਵਾਰ ॥
पंद्रह थितीं तै सत वार ॥
Panḏrėh thiṯīʼn ṯai saṯ vār.
The fifteen lunar days, the seven days of the week,
|
ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਾਰ ਵਾਰ ॥
माहा रुती आवहि वार वार ॥
Māhā ruṯī āvahi vār vār.
the months, seasons, days and nights, come over and over again;
|
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਤਿਵੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
दिनसु रैणि तिवै संसारु ॥
Ḏinas raiṇ ṯivai sansār.
so the world goes on.
|
ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
आवा गउणु कीआ करतारि ॥
Āvā ga▫oṇ kī▫ā karṯār.
Coming and going were created by the Creator Lord.
|
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਕਲ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
निहचलु साचु रहिआ कल धारि ॥
Nihcẖal sācẖ rahi▫ā kal ḏẖār.
The True Lord remains steady and stable, by His almighty power.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੦॥੧॥
नानक गुरमुखि बूझै को सबदु वीचारि ॥१०॥१॥
Nānak gurmukẖ būjẖai ko sabaḏ vīcẖār. ||10||1||
O Nanak, how rare is that Gurmukh who understands, and contemplates the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||10||1||

Bilaaval, Third Mehl:

ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
आदि पुरखु आपे स्रिसटि साजे ॥
Āḏ purakẖ āpe sarisat sāje.
The Primal Lord Himself formed the Universe.
|
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਾਜੇ ॥
जीअ जंत माइआ मोहि पाजे ॥
Jī▫a janṯ mā▫i▫ā mohi pāje.
The beings and creatures are engrossed in emotional attachment to Maya.
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਰਪੰਚਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
दूजै भाइ परपंचि लागे ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e parpancẖ lāge.
In the love of duality, they are attached to the illusory material world.
|
ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
आवहि जावहि मरहि अभागे ॥
Āvahi jāvėh marėh abẖāge.
The unfortunate ones die, and continue to come and go.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
सतिगुरि भेटिऐ सोझी पाइ ॥
Saṯgur bẖeti▫ai sojẖī pā▫e.
Meeting with the True Guru, understanding is obtained.
|
ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਚੂਕੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
परपंचु चूकै सचि समाइ ॥१॥
Parpancẖ cẖūkai sacẖ samā▫e. ||1||
Then, the illusion of the material world is shattered, and one merges in Truth. ||1||
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ॥
जा कै मसतकि लिखिआ लेखु ॥
Jā kai masṯak likẖi▫ā lekẖ.
One who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead -
|
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ता कै मनि वसिआ प्रभु एकु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧā kai man vasi▫ā parabẖ ek. ||1|| rahā▫o.
the One God abides within his mind. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਸਭੁ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
स्रिसटि उपाइ आपे सभु वेखै ॥
Sarisat upā▫e āpe sabẖ vekẖai.
He created the Universe, and He Himself beholds all.
|
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
कोइ न मेटै तेरै लेखै ॥
Ko▫e na metai ṯerai lekẖai.
No one can erase Your record, Lord.
|
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
सिध साधिक जे को कहै कहाए ॥
Siḏẖ sāḏẖik je ko kahai kahā▫e.
If someone calls himself a Siddha or a seeker,
|
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
भरमे भूला आवै जाए ॥
Bẖarme bẖūlā āvai jā▫e.
he is deluded by doubt, and will continue coming and going.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवै सो जनु बूझै ॥
Saṯgur sevai so jan būjẖai.
That humble being alone understands, who serves the True Guru.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਦਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥੨॥
हउमै मारे ता दरु सूझै ॥२॥
Ha▫umai māre ṯā ḏar sūjẖai. ||2||
Conquering his ego, he finds the Lord's Door. ||2||
|
ਏਕਸੁ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੂਆ ॥
एकसु ते सभु दूजा हूआ ॥
Ėkas ṯe sabẖ ḏūjā hū▫ā.
From the One Lord, all others were formed.
|
ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥
एको वरतै अवरु न बीआ ॥
Ėko varṯai avar na bī▫ā.
The One Lord is pervading everywhere; there is no other at all.
|
ਦੂਜੇ ਤੇ ਜੇ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
दूजे ते जे एको जाणै ॥
Ḏūje ṯe je eko jāṇai.
Renouncing duality, one comes to know the One Lord.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੈ ॥
गुर कै सबदि हरि दरि नीसाणै ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ har ḏar nīsāṇai.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one knows the Lord's Door, and His Banner.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਏਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरु भेटे ता एको पाए ॥
Saṯgur bẖete ṯā eko pā▫e.
Meeting the True Guru, one finds the One Lord.
|
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥੩॥
विचहु दूजा ठाकि रहाए ॥३॥
vicẖahu ḏūjā ṯẖāk rahā▫e. ||3||
Duality is subdued within. ||3||
|
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਡਾਢਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
जिस दा साहिबु डाढा होइ ॥
Jis ḏā sāhib dādẖā ho▫e.
One who belongs to the All-powerful Lord and Master -
|
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
तिस नो मारि न साकै कोइ ॥
Ŧis no mār na sākai ko▫e.
no one can destroy him.
|
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਰਹੈ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
साहिब की सेवकु रहै सरणाई ॥
Sāhib kī sevak rahai sarṇā▫ī.
The Lord's servant remains under His protection;
|
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
आपे बखसे दे वडिआई ॥
Āpe bakẖse ḏe vadi▫ā▫ī.
The Lord Himself forgives him, and blesses him with glorious greatness.
|
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
तिस ते ऊपरि नाही कोइ ॥
Ŧis ṯe ūpar nāhī ko▫e.
There is none higher than Him.
|
ਕਉਣੁ ਡਰੈ ਡਰੁ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥
कउणु डरै डरु किस का होइ ॥४॥
Ka▫uṇ darai dar kis kā ho▫e. ||4||
Why should he be afraid? What should he ever fear? ||4||
|
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਰੀਰ ॥
गुरमती सांति वसै सरीर ॥
Gurmaṯī sāʼnṯ vasai sarīr.
Through the Guru's Teachings, peace and tranquility abide within the body.
|
ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਪੀਰ ॥
सबदु चीन्हि फिरि लगै न पीर ॥
Sabaḏ cẖīnėh fir lagai na pīr.
Remember the Word of the Shabad, and you shall never suffer pain.
|
ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
आवै न जाइ ना दुखु पाए ॥
Āvai na jā▫e nā ḏukẖ pā▫e.
You shall not have to come or go, or suffer in sorrow.
|
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
नामे राते सहजि समाए ॥
Nāme rāṯe sahj samā▫e.
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall merge in celestial peace.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
नानक गुरमुखि वेखै हदूरि ॥
Nānak gurmukẖ vekẖai haḏūr.
O Nanak, the Gurmukh beholds Him ever-present, close at hand.
|
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੫॥
मेरा प्रभु सद रहिआ भरपूरि ॥५॥
Merā parabẖ saḏ rahi▫ā bẖarpūr. ||5||
My God is always fully pervading everywhere. ||5||
|
ਇਕਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਇਕਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥
इकि सेवक इकि भरमि भुलाए ॥
Ik sevak ik bẖaram bẖulā▫e.
Some are selfless servants, while others wander, deluded by doubt.
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
आपे करे हरि आपि कराए ॥
Āpe kare har āp karā▫e.
The Lord Himself does, and causes everything to be done.
|
ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
एको वरतै अवरु न कोइ ॥
Ėko varṯai avar na ko▫e.
The One Lord is all-pervading; there is no other at all.
|
ਮਨਿ ਰੋਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
मनि रोसु कीजै जे दूजा होइ ॥
Man ros kījai je ḏūjā ho▫e.
The mortal might complain, if there were any other.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवे करणी सारी ॥
Saṯgur seve karṇī sārī.
Serve the True Guru; this is the most excellent action.
|
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੬॥
दरि साचै साचे वीचारी ॥६॥
Ḏar sācẖai sācẖe vīcẖārī. ||6||
In the Court of the True Lord, you shall be judged true. ||6||
|
ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸਭਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥
थिती वार सभि सबदि सुहाए ॥
Thiṯī vār sabẖ sabaḏ suhā▫e.
All the lunar days, and the days of the week are beautiful, when one contemplates the Shabad.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवे ता फलु पाए ॥
Saṯgur seve ṯā fal pā▫e.
If one serves the True Guru, he obtains the fruits of his rewards.
|
ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸਭਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
थिती वार सभि आवहि जाहि ॥
Thiṯī vār sabẖ āvahi jāhi.
The omens and days all come and go.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
गुर सबदु निहचलु सदा सचि समाहि ॥
Gur sabaḏ nihcẖal saḏā sacẖ samāhi.
But the Word of the Guru's Shabad is eternal and unchanging. Through it, one merges in the True Lord.
|
ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
थिती वार ता जा सचि राते ॥
Thiṯī vār ṯā jā sacẖ rāṯe.
The days are auspicious, when one is imbued with Truth.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚੇ ॥੭॥
बिनु नावै सभि भरमहि काचे ॥७॥
Bin nāvai sabẖ bẖarmėh kācẖe. ||7||
Without the Name, all the false ones wander deluded. ||7||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਰਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਬਿਗਤੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
मनमुख मरहि मरि बिगती जाहि ॥
Manmukẖ marėh mar bigṯī jāhi.
The self-willed manmukhs die, and dead, they fall into the most evil state.
|
ਏਕੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਹਿ ॥
एकु न चेतहि दूजै लोभाहि ॥
Ėk na cẖīṯėh ḏūjai lobẖāhi.
They do not remember the One Lord; they are deluded by duality.
|
ਅਚੇਤ ਪਿੰਡੀ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥
अचेत पिंडी अगिआन अंधारु ॥
Acẖeṯ pindī agi▫ān anḏẖār.
The human body is unconscious, ignorant and blind.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਏ ਪਾਰੁ ॥
बिनु सबदै किउ पाए पारु ॥
Bin sabḏai ki▫o pā▫e pār.
Without the Word of the Shabad, how can anyone cross over?
|
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
आपि उपाए उपावणहारु ॥
Āp upā▫e upāvaṇhār.
The Creator Himself creates.
|
ਆਪੇ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੮॥
आपे कीतोनु गुर वीचारु ॥८॥
Āpe kīṯon gur vīcẖār. ||8||
He Himself contemplates the Guru's Word. ||8||
|
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥
बहुते भेख करहि भेखधारी ॥
Bahuṯe bẖekẖ karahi bẖekẖ▫ḏẖārī.
The religious fanatics wear all sorts of religious robes.
|
ਭਵਿ ਭਵਿ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
भवि भवि भरमहि काची सारी ॥
Bẖav bẖav bẖarmėh kācẖī sārī.
They roll around and wander around, like the false dice on the board.
|
ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਆਗੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
ऐथै सुखु न आगै होइ ॥
Aithai sukẖ na āgai ho▫e.
They find no peace, here or hereafter.
