ਸੂਹੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਲਲਿਤ ॥

ਥਾਕੇ ਨੈਨ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਥਾਕੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਕਾਇਆ ॥
Thāke nain sarvan sun thāke thākī sunḏar kā▫i▫ā.
My eyes are exhausted, and my ears are tired of hearing; my beautiful body is exhausted.

ਜਰਾ ਹਾਕ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਮਤਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਏਕ ਨ ਥਾਕਸਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Jarā hāk ḏī sabẖ maṯ thākī ek na thākas mā▫i▫ā. ||1||
Driven forward by old age, all my senses are exhausted; only my attachment to Maya is not exhausted. ||1||
|
ਬਾਵਰੇ ਤੈ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Bāvre ṯai gi▫ān bīcẖār na pā▫i▫ā.
O mad man, you have not obtained spiritual wisdom and meditation.

ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You have wasted this human life, and lost. ||1||Pause||
|
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਤਿਸੈ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਸਾ ॥
Ŧab lag parānī ṯisai sarevhu jab lag gẖat mėh sāsā.
O mortal, serve the Lord, as long as the breath of life remains in the body.

ਜੇ ਘਟੁ ਜਾਇ ਤ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
Je gẖat jā▫e ṯa bẖā▫o na jāsī har ke cẖaran nivāsā. ||2||
And even when your body dies, your love for the Lord shall not die; you shall dwell at the Feet of the Lord. ||2||
|
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਬਸਾਵੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚੂਕੈ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥
Jis ka▫o sabaḏ basāvai anṯar cẖūkai ṯisėh pi▫āsā.
When the Word of the Shabad abides deep within, thirst and desire are quenched.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਚਉਪੜਿ ਖੇਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣਿ ਢਾਲੇ ਪਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
Hukmai būjẖai cẖa▫upaṛ kẖelai man jiṇ dẖāle pāsā. ||3||
When one understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command, he plays the game of chess with the Lord; throwing the dice, he conquers his own mind. ||3||
|
ਜੋ ਜਨ ਜਾਨਿ ਭਜਹਿ ਅਬਿਗਤ ਕਉ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਨਾਸਾ ॥
Jo jan jān bẖajėh abigaṯ ka▫o ṯin kā kacẖẖū na nāsā.
Those humble beings, who know the Imperishable Lord and meditate on Him, are not destroyed at all.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਹਾਰਹਿ ਢਾਲਿ ਜੁ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਪਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੪॥
Kaho Kabīr ṯe jan kabahu na hārėh dẖāl jo jānėh pāsā. ||4||4||
Says Kabeer, those humble beings who know how to throw these dice, never lose the game of life. ||4||4||

ਸੂਹੀ ਲਲਿਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ॥

ਏਕੁ ਕੋਟੁ ਪੰਚ ਸਿਕਦਾਰਾ ਪੰਚੇ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਹਾਲਾ ॥
Ėk kot pancẖ sikḏārā pancẖe māgėh hālā.
In the one fortress of the body, there are five rulers, and all five demand payment of taxes.

ਜਿਮੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਕਿਸੀ ਕੀ ਬੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਦੇਨੁ ਦੁਖਾਲਾ ॥੧॥
Jimī nāhī mai kisī kī bo▫ī aisā ḏen ḏukẖālā. ||1||
I have not farmed anyone's land, so such payment is difficult for me to pay. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗਾ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਨੀਤਿ ਡਸੈ ਪਟਵਾਰੀ ॥
Har ke logā mo ka▫o nīṯ dasai patvārī.
O people of the Lord, the tax-collector is constantly torturing me!

ਊਪਰਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਉ ਲੀਆ ਉਬਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ūpar bẖujā kar mai gur pėh pukāri▫ā ṯin ha▫o lī▫ā ubārī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Raising my arms up, I complained to my Guru, and He has saved me. ||1||Pause||
|
ਨਉ ਡਾਡੀ ਦਸ ਮੁੰਸਫ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਰਈਅਤਿ ਬਸਨ ਨ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
Na▫o dādī ḏas munsaf ḏẖāvėh ra▫ī▫aṯ basan na ḏehī.
The nine tax-assessors and the ten magistrates go out; they do not allow their subjects to live in peace.

ਡੋਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਾਪਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਸਟਾਲਾ ਲੇਹੀ ॥੨॥
Dorī pūrī māpėh nāhī baho bistālā lehī. ||2||
They do not measure with a full tape, and they take huge amounts in bribes. ||2||
|
ਬਹਤਰਿ ਘਰ ਇਕੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਉਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਿਖਾਈ ॥
Bahṯar gẖar ik purakẖ samā▫i▫ā un ḏī▫ā nām likẖā▫ī.
The One Lord is contained in the seventy-two chambers of the body, and He has written off my account.

ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਾ ਦਫਤਰੁ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਬਾਕੀ ਰਿਜਮ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥੩॥
Ḏẖaram rā▫e kā ḏafṯar soḏẖi▫ā bākī rijam na kā▫ī. ||3||
The records of the Righteous Judge of Dharma have been searched, and I owe absolutely nothing. ||3||
|
ਸੰਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਤਿ ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਰਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਏਕੋੁ ॥
Sanṯā ka▫o maṯ ko▫ī ninḏahu sanṯ rām hai eko.
Let no one slander the Saints, because the Saints and the Lord are as one.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ਬਿਬੇਕੋੁ ॥੪॥੫॥
Kaho Kabīr mai so gur pā▫i▫ā jā kā nā▫o bibeko. ||4||5||
Says Kabeer, I have found that Guru, whose Name is Clear Understanding. ||4||5||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਹ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Sah kī sār suhāgan jānai.
The happy soul-bride knows the worth of her Husband Lord.
|
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਸੁਖ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
Ŧaj abẖimān sukẖ ralī▫ā mānai.
Renouncing pride, she enjoys peace and pleasure.
|
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Ŧan man ḏe▫e na anṯar rākẖai.
She surrenders her body and mind to Him, and does not remain separate from Him.
|
ਅਵਰਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਸੁਨੈ ਅਭਾਖੈ ॥੧॥
Avrā ḏekẖ na sunai abẖākẖai. ||1||
She does not see or hear, or speak to another. ||1||
|
ਸੋ ਕਤ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੀਰ ਪਰਾਈ ॥
So kaṯ jānai pīr parā▫ī.
How can anyone know the pain of another,
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦਰਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jā kai anṯar ḏaraḏ na pā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
if there is no compassion and sympathy within? ||1||Pause||
|
ਦੁਖੀ ਦੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਦੁਇ ਪਖ ਹੀਨੀ ॥
Ḏukẖī ḏuhāgan ḏu▫e pakẖ hīnī.
The discarded bride is miserable, and loses both worlds;
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਹ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
Jin nāh niranṯar bẖagaṯ na kīnī.
she does not worship her Husband Lord.
|
ਪੁਰ ਸਲਾਤ ਕਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
Pur salāṯ kā panth ḏuhelā.
The bridge over the fire of hell is difficult and treacherous.
|
ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਸਾਥੀ ਗਵਨੁ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥੨॥
Sang na sāthī gavan ikelā. ||2||
No one will accompany you there; you will have to go all alone. ||2||
|
ਦੁਖੀਆ ਦਰਦਵੰਦੁ ਦਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
Ḏukẖī▫ā ḏaraḏvanḏ ḏar ā▫i▫ā.
Suffering in pain, I have come to Your Door, O Compassionate Lord.
|
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਬਾਬੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Bahuṯ pi▫ās jabāb na pā▫i▫ā.
I am so thirsty for You, but You do not answer me.
|
ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਸਰਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
Kahi Raviḏās saran parabẖ ṯerī.
Says Ravi Daas, I seek Your Sanctuary, God;
|
ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਕਰੁ ਗਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੩॥੧॥
Ji▫o jānhu ṯi▫o kar gaṯ merī. ||3||1||
as You know me, so will You save me. ||3||1||

ਜੋ ਦਿਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਦਿਨ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
Jo ḏin āvahi so ḏin jāhī.
That day which comes, that day shall go.
|
ਕਰਨਾ ਕੂਚੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Karnā kūcẖ rahan thir nāhī.
You must march on; nothing remains stable.
|
ਸੰਗੁ ਚਲਤ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਭੀ ਚਲਨਾ ॥
Sang cẖalaṯ hai ham bẖī cẖalnā.
Our companions are leaving, and we must leave as well.
|
ਦੂਰਿ ਗਵਨੁ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੧॥
Ḏūr gavan sir ūpar marnā. ||1||
We must go far away. Death is hovering over our heads. ||1||
