ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਸਾ ਜੀਉ
सतिगुर पूछउ जाइ नामु धिआइसा जीउ ॥
Saṯgur pūcẖẖa▫o jā▫e nām ḏẖi▫ā▫isā jī▫o.
I shall go and ask the True Guru, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਸਾਚੁ ਚਵਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ
सचु नामु धिआई साचु चवाई गुरमुखि साचु पछाणा ॥
Sacẖ nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī sācẖ cẖavā▫ī gurmukẖ sācẖ pacẖẖāṇā.
I meditate on the True Name, chant the True Name, and as Gurmukh, I realize the True Name.

ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ
दीना नाथु दइआलु निरंजनु अनदिनु नामु वखाणा ॥
Ḏīnā nāth ḏa▫i▫āl niranjan an▫ḏin nām vakẖāṇā.
Night and day, I chant the Name of the merciful, immaculate Lord, the Master of the poor.

ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀ
करणी कार धुरहु फुरमाई आपि मुआ मनु मारी ॥
Karṇī kār ḏẖarahu furmā▫ī āp mu▫ā man mārī.
The Primal Lord has ordained the tasks to be done; self-conceit is overcome, and the mind is subdued.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੨॥
नानक नामु महा रसु मीठा त्रिसना नामि निवारी ॥५॥२॥
Nānak nām mahā ras mīṯẖā ṯarisnā nām nivārī. ||5||2||
O Nanak, the Naam is the sweetest essence; through the Naam, thirst and desire are stilled. ||5||2||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ
धनासरी छंत महला १ ॥
Ḏẖanāsrī cẖẖanṯ mėhlā 1.
Dhanaasaree, Chhant, First Mehl:

ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੂਠੜੀਏ ਖਬਰਿ ਪਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ
पिर संगि मूठड़ीए खबरि न पाईआ जीउ ॥
Pir sang mūṯẖ▫ṛī▫e kẖabar na pā▫ī▫ā jī▫o.
Your Husband Lord is with you, O deluded soul-bride, but you do are not aware of Him.

ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਅੜਾ ਲੇਖੁ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ
मसतकि लिखिअड़ा लेखु पुरबि कमाइआ जीउ ॥
Masṯak likẖi▫aṛā lekẖ purab kamā▫i▫ā jī▫o.
Your destiny is written on your forehead, according to your past actions.

ਲੇਖੁ ਮਿਟਈ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਸੀ
लेखु न मिटई पुरबि कमाइआ किआ जाणा किआ होसी ॥
Lekẖ na mit▫ī purab kamā▫i▫ā ki▫ā jāṇā ki▫ā hosī.
This inscription of past deeds cannot be erased; what do I know about what will happen?

ਗੁਣੀ ਅਚਾਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਬਹਿ ਬਹਿ ਰੋਸੀ
गुणी अचारि नही रंगि राती अवगुण बहि बहि रोसी ॥
Guṇī acẖār nahī rang rāṯī avguṇ bahi bahi rosī.
You have not adopted a virtuous lifestyle, and you are not attuned to the Lord's Love; you sit there, crying over your past misdeeds.

ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਆਕ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਏ ਦਿਨ ਪੁੰਨਿਆ
धनु जोबनु आक की छाइआ बिरधि भए दिन पुंनिआ ॥
Ḏẖan joban āk kī cẖẖā▫i▫ā biraḏẖ bẖa▫e ḏin punni▫ā.
Wealth and youth are like the shade of the bitter swallow-wort plant; you are growing old, and your days are coming to their end.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਛੂਟੀ ਝੂਠਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੧॥
नानक नाम बिना दोहागणि छूटी झूठि विछुंनिआ ॥१॥
Nānak nām binā ḏohāgaṇ cẖẖūtī jẖūṯẖ vicẖẖunni▫ā. ||1||
O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall end up as a discarded, divorced bride; your own falsehood shall separate you from the Lord. ||1||

ਬੂਡੀ ਘਰੁ ਘਾਲਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਚਲੋ
बूडी घरु घालिओ गुर कै भाइ चलो ॥
Būdī gẖar gẖāli▫o gur kai bẖā▫e cẖalo.
You have drowned, and your house is ruined; walk in the Way of the Guru's Will.

ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਮਹਲੋ
साचा नामु धिआइ पावहि सुखि महलो ॥
Sācẖā nām ḏẖi▫ā▫e pāvahi sukẖ mahlo.
Meditate on the True Name, and you shall find peace in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰੇ
हरि नामु धिआए ता सुखु पाए पेईअड़ै दिन चारे ॥
Har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫e ṯā sukẖ pā▫e pe▫ī▫aṛai ḏin cẖāre.
Meditate on the Lord's Name, and you shall find peace; your stay in this world shall last only four days.

ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਏ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ
निज घरि जाइ बहै सचु पाए अनदिनु नालि पिआरे ॥
Nij gẖar jā▫e bahai sacẖ pā▫e an▫ḏin nāl pi▫āre.
Sit in the home of your own being, and you shall find Truth; night and day, be with your Beloved.

ਵਿਣੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਹੋਵੀ ਸੁਣਿਅਹੁ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ
विणु भगती घरि वासु न होवी सुणिअहु लोक सबाए ॥
viṇ bẖagṯī gẖar vās na hovī suṇi▫ahu lok sabā▫e.
Without loving devotion, you cannot dwell in your own home - listen, everyone!

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਸੀ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਏ ॥੨॥
नानक सरसी ता पिरु पाए राती साचै नाए ॥२॥
Nānak sarsī ṯā pir pā▫e rāṯī sācẖai nā▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, she is happy, and she obtains her Husband Lord, if she is attuned to the True Name. ||2||

ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ
पिरु धन भावै ता पिर भावै नारी जीउ ॥
Pir ḏẖan bẖāvai ṯā pir bẖāvai nārī jī▫o.
If the soul-bride is pleasing to her Husband Lord, then the Husband Lord will love His bride.

ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ
रंगि प्रीतम राती गुर कै सबदि वीचारी जीउ ॥
Rang parīṯam rāṯī gur kai sabaḏ vīcẖārī jī▫o.
Imbued with the love of her Beloved, she contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਈ
गुर सबदि वीचारी नाह पिआरी निवि निवि भगति करेई ॥
Gur sabaḏ vīcẖārī nāh pi▫ārī niv niv bẖagaṯ kare▫ī.
She contemplates the Guru's Shabads, and her Husband Lord loves her; in deep humility, she worships Him in loving devotion.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਲਾਏ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਰੇਈ
माइआ मोहु जलाए प्रीतमु रस महि रंगु करेई ॥
Mā▫i▫ā moh jalā▫e parīṯam ras mėh rang kare▫ī.
She burns away her emotional attachment to Maya, and in love, she loves her Beloved.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੇਤੀ ਲਾਲ ਭਈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀ
प्रभ साचे सेती रंगि रंगेती लाल भई मनु मारी ॥
Parabẖ sācẖe seṯī rang rangeṯī lāl bẖa▫ī man mārī.
She is imbued and drenched with the Love of the True Lord; she has become beautiful, by conquering her mind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਵਸੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਪਿਰ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੩॥
नानक साचि वसी सोहागणि पिर सिउ प्रीति पिआरी ॥३॥
Nānak sācẖ vasī sohagaṇ pir si▫o parīṯ pi▫ārī. ||3||
O Nanak, the happy soul-bride abides in Truth; she loves to love her Husband Lord. ||3||

ਪਿਰ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਨਾਰਿ ਜੇ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵਏ ਜੀਉ
पिर घरि सोहै नारि जे पिर भावए जीउ ॥
Pir gẖar sohai nār je pir bẖāv▫e jī▫o.
The soul-bride looks so beautiful in the home of her Husband Lord, if she is pleasing to Him.

ਝੂਠੇ ਵੈਣ ਚਵੇ ਕਾਮਿ ਆਵਏ ਜੀਉ
झूठे वैण चवे कामि न आवए जीउ ॥
Jẖūṯẖe vaiṇ cẖave kām na āv▫e jī▫o.
It is of no use at all to speak false words.

ਝੂਠੁ ਅਲਾਵੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਨੈਣੀ
झूठु अलावै कामि न आवै ना पिरु देखै नैणी ॥
Jẖūṯẖ alāvai kām na āvai nā pir ḏekẖai naiṇī.
If she speaks false, it is of no use to her, and she does not see her Husband Lord with her eyes.

ਅਵਗੁਣਿਆਰੀ ਕੰਤਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੀ ਛੂਟੀ ਵਿਧਣ ਰੈਣੀ
अवगुणिआरी कंति विसारी छूटी विधण रैणी ॥
Avguṇi▫ārī kanṯ visārī cẖẖūtī viḏẖaṇ raiṇī.
Worthless, forgotten and abandoned by her Husband Lord, she passes her life-night without her Lord and Master.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੀ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਏ
गुर सबदु न मानै फाही फाथी सा धन महलु न पाए ॥
Gur sabaḏ na mānai fāhī fāthī sā ḏẖan mahal na pā▫e.
Such a wife does not believe in the Word of the Guru's Shabad; she is caught in the net of the world, and does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥
नानक आपे आपु पछाणै गुरमुखि सहजि समाए ॥४॥
Nānak āpe āp pacẖẖāṇai gurmukẖ sahj samā▫e. ||4||
O Nanak, if she understands her own self, then, as Gurmukh, she merges in celestial peace. ||4||

ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜੀਉ
धन सोहागणि नारि जिनि पिरु जाणिआ जीउ ॥
Ḏẖan sohagaṇ nār jin pir jāṇi▫ā jī▫o.
Blessed is that soul-bride, who knows her Husband Lord.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਣਿਆ ਜੀਉ
नाम बिना कूड़िआरि कूड़ु कमाणिआ जीउ ॥
Nām binā kūṛi▫ār kūṛ kamāṇi▫ā jī▫o.
Without the Naam, she is false, and her actions are false as well.

ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਵੀ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਤੀ
हरि भगति सुहावी साचे भावी भाइ भगति प्रभ राती ॥
Har bẖagaṯ suhāvī sācẖe bẖāvī bẖā▫e bẖagaṯ parabẖ rāṯī.
Devotional worship of the Lord is beautiful; the True Lord loves it. So immerse yourself in loving devotional worship of God.

ਪਿਰੁ ਰਲੀਆਲਾ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਬਾਲਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ
पिरु रलीआला जोबनि बाला तिसु रावे रंगि राती ॥
Pir ralī▫ālā joban bālā ṯis rāve rang rāṯī.
My Husband Lord is playful and innocent; imbued with His Love, I enjoy Him.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਾਸੀ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ
गुर सबदि विगासी सहु रावासी फलु पाइआ गुणकारी ॥
Gur sabaḏ vigāsī saho rāvāsī fal pā▫i▫ā guṇkārī.
She blossoms forth through the Word of the Guru's Shabad; she ravishes her Husband Lord, and obtains the most noble reward.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਿਰ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੩॥
नानक साचु मिलै वडिआई पिर घरि सोहै नारी ॥५॥३॥
Nānak sācẖ milai vadi▫ā▫ī pir gẖar sohai nārī. ||5||3||
O Nanak, in Truth, she obtains glory; in her Husband's home, the soul-bride looks beautiful. ||5||3||
