ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਾਰ ॥
प्रभ साचे की साची कार ॥
Parabʰ saaché kee saachee kaar.
True is service to the True Lord God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥੪॥੪॥
नानक नामि सवारणहार ॥४॥४॥
Naanak naam savaaraṇhaar. ||4||4||
O Nanak! The Naam is the Embellisher. ||4||4||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
धनासरी महला ३ ॥
Ḋʰanaasree mėhlaa 3.
Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl:
|
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
जो हरि सेवहि तिन बलि जाउ ॥
Jo har sévėh ṫin bal jaa▫o.
I am a sacrifice to those who serve the Lord.
|
ਤਿਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
तिन हिरदै साचु सचा मुखि नाउ ॥
Ṫin hirḋæ saach sachaa mukʰ naa▫o.
The Truth is in their hearts, and the True Name is on their lips.
|
ਸਾਚੋ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮਾਲਿਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
साचो साचु समालिहु दुखु जाइ ॥
Saacho saach samaalihu ḋukʰ jaa▫é.
Dwelling upon the Truest of the True, their pains are dispelled.

ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
साचै सबदि वसै मनि आइ ॥१॥
Saachæ sabaḋ vasæ man aa▫é. ||1||
Through the True Word of the Shabad, the Lord comes to dwell in their minds. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
गुरबाणी सुणि मैलु गवाए ॥
Gurbaaṇee suṇ mæl gavaa▫é.
Listening to the Word of Gurbani, filth is washed off,
|
ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सहजे हरि नामु मंनि वसाए ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sėhjé har naam man vasaa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
and they naturally enshrine the Lord’s Name in their minds. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
कूड़ु कुसतु त्रिसना अगनि बुझाए ॥
Kooṛ kusaṫ ṫarisnaa agan bujʰaa▫é.
One who conquers fraud, deceit and the fire of desire
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
अंतरि सांति सहजि सुखु पाए ॥
Anṫar saaⁿṫ sahj sukʰ paa▫é.
finds tranquility, peace and pleasure within.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਤਾ ਆਪੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
गुर कै भाणै चलै ता आपु जाइ ॥
Gur kæ bʰaaṇæ chalæ ṫaa aap jaa▫é.
If one walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will, he eliminates his self-conceit.
|
ਸਾਚੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥
साचु महलु पाए हरि गुण गाइ ॥२॥
Saach mahal paa▫é har guṇ gaa▫é. ||2||
He finds the True Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
|
ਨ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
न सबदु बूझै न जाणै बाणी ॥
Na sabaḋ boojʰæ na jaaṇæ baṇee.
The blind, self-willed Manmukh does not understand the Shabad; he does not know the Word of the Guru’s Bani,
|
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥
मनमुखि अंधे दुखि विहाणी ॥
Manmukʰ anḋʰé ḋukʰ vihaaṇee.
and so he passes his life in misery.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरु भेटे ता सुखु पाए ॥
Saṫgur bʰété ṫaa sukʰ paa▫é.
But if he meets the True Guru, then he finds peace,
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥੩॥
हउमै विचहु ठाकि रहाए ॥३॥
Ha▫umæ vichahu tʰaak rahaa▫é. ||3||
and the ego within is silenced. ||3||
|
ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਦਾਤਾ ਇਕੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
किस नो कहीऐ दाता इकु सोइ ॥
Kis no kahee▫æ ḋaaṫaa ik so▫é.
Who else should I speak to? The One Lord is the Giver of all.
|
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
किरपा करे सबदि मिलावा होइ ॥
Kirpaa karé sabaḋ milaavaa ho▫é.
When He grants His Grace, then we obtain the Word of the Shabad.

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥
मिलि प्रीतम साचे गुण गावा ॥
Mil pareeṫam saaché guṇ gaavaa.
Meeting with my Beloved, I sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੫॥
नानक साचे साचा भावा ॥४॥५॥
Naanak saaché saachaa bʰaavaa. ||4||5||
O Nanak! Becoming truthful, I have become pleasing to the True Lord. ||4||5||

ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਧਾਤੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
मनु मरै धातु मरि जाइ ॥
Man maræ ḋʰaaṫ mar jaa▫é.
When the mind is conquered, its turbulent wanderings are stopped.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਮਨ ਮੂਏ ਕੈਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
बिनु मन मूए कैसे हरि पाइ ॥
Bin man moo▫é kæsé har paa▫é.
Without conquering the mind, how can the Lord be found?
|
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਦਾਰੂ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
इहु मनु मरै दारू जाणै कोइ ॥
Ih man maræ ḋaaroo jaaṇæ ko▫é.
Rare is the one who knows the medicine to conquer the mind.
|
ਮਨੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
मनु सबदि मरै बूझै जनु सोइ ॥१॥
Man sabaḋ maræ boojʰæ jan so▫é. ||1||
The mind is conquered through the Word of the Shabad; this is known to the Lord’s humble servant. ||1||
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਖਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
जिस नो बखसे हरि दे वडिआई ॥
Jis no bakʰsé har ḋé vadi▫aa▫ee.
The Lord forgives him, and blesses him with glory.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर परसादि वसै मनि आई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur parsaaḋ vasæ man aa▫ee. Rahaa▫o.
By Guru’s Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||Pause||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
गुरमुखि करणी कार कमावै ॥
Gurmukʰ karṇee kaar kamaavæ.
The Gurmukh does good deeds,
|
ਤਾ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
ता इसु मन की सोझी पावै ॥
Ṫaa is man kee sojʰee paavæ.
and so, he comes to understand this mind.
|
ਮਨੁ ਮੈ ਮਤੁ ਮੈਗਲ ਮਿਕਦਾਰਾ ॥
मनु मै मतु मैगल मिकदारा ॥
Man mæ maṫ mægal mikḋaaraa.
The mind is intoxicated, like the elephant with wine.
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਕਸੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
गुरु अंकसु मारि जीवालणहारा ॥२॥
Gur ankas maar jeevaalaṇhaaraa. ||2||
The Guru places the harness upon it, and rejuvenates it. ||2||
|
ਮਨੁ ਅਸਾਧੁ ਸਾਧੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
मनु असाधु साधै जनु कोई ॥
Man asaaḋʰ saaḋʰæ jan ko▫ee.
The mind is undisciplined; only a rare few can discipline it.
|
ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
अचरु चरै ता निरमलु होई ॥
Achar charæ ṫaa nirmal ho▫ee.
If some one controls the difficult mind, then he becomes immaculate.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਇਆ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
गुरमुखि इहु मनु लइआ सवारि ॥
Gurmukʰ ih man la▫i▫aa savaar.
As Gurmukh, his mind is embellished.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਤਜੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
हउमै विचहु तजै विकार ॥३॥
Ha▫umæ vichahu ṫajæ vikaar. ||3||
Egotism and corruption are eradicated from within. ||3||
|
ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਰਖਿਅਨੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
जो धुरि रखिअनु मेलि मिलाइ ॥
Jo ḋʰur rakʰi▫an mél milaa▫é.
Those whom the Primal Lord keeps united in His Union,
|
ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
कदे न विछुड़हि सबदि समाइ ॥
Kaḋé na vichʰuṛėh sabaḋ samaa▫é.
shall never be separated from Him; they are merged in the Word of the Shabad.
|
ਆਪਣੀ ਕਲਾ ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
आपणी कला आपे प्रभु जाणै ॥
Aapṇee kalaa aapé parabʰ jaaṇæ.
Only God Himself knows His own power.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੪॥੬॥
नानक गुरमुखि नामु पछाणै ॥४॥६॥
Naanak gurmukʰ naam pachʰaaṇæ. ||4||6||
O Nanak! The Gurmukh realizes the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||6||
|
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
धनासरी महला ३ ॥

ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥
काचा धनु संचहि मूरख गावार ॥
Kaachaa ḋʰan saⁿchėh moorakʰ gaavaar.
The ignorant fools amass false wealth.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਅੰਧ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥
मनमुख भूले अंध गावार ॥
Manmukʰ bʰoolé anḋʰ gaavaar.
The blind, foolish, self-willed Manmukhs have gone astray.
|
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਧਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
बिखिआ कै धनि सदा दुखु होइ ॥
Bikʰi▫aa kæ ḋʰan saḋaa ḋukʰ ho▫é.
Poisonous wealth brings constant pain.
|
ਨਾ ਸਾਥਿ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
ना साथि जाइ न परापति होइ ॥१॥
Naa saaṫʰ jaa▫é na paraapaṫ ho▫é. ||1||
It will not go with you, and it will not yield any profit. ||1||
|
ਸਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
साचा धनु गुरमती पाए ॥
Saachaa ḋʰan gurmaṫee paa▫é.
True wealth is obtained through the Guru’s Teachings.
|
ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
काचा धनु फुनि आवै जाए ॥ रहाउ ॥
Kaachaa ḋʰan fun aavæ jaa▫é. Rahaa▫o.
False wealth continues coming and going. ||Pause||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
मनमुखि भूले सभि मरहि गवार ॥
Manmukʰ bʰoolé sabʰ marėh gavaar.
The foolish self-willed Manmukhs all go astray and die.
|
ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬੇ ਨ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
भवजलि डूबे न उरवारि न पारि ॥
Bʰavjal doobé na urvaar na paar.
They drown in the terrifying world-ocean, and they cannot reach either this shore, or the one beyond.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ॥
सतिगुरु भेटे पूरै भागि ॥
Saṫgur bʰété pooræ bʰaag.
But by perfect destiny, they meet the True Guru;
|
ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ॥੨॥
साचि रते अहिनिसि बैरागि ॥२॥
Saach raṫé ahinis bæraag. ||2||
imbued with the True Name, day and night, they remain detached from the world. ||2||
|
ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
चहु जुग महि अमृतु साची बाणी ॥
Chahu jug mėh amriṫ saachee baṇee.
Throughout the four ages, the True Bani of His Word is Ambrosial Nectar.

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
पूरै भागि हरि नामि समाणी ॥
Pooræ bʰaag har naam samaaṇee.
By perfect destiny, one is absorbed in the True Name.
|
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤਰਸਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਇ ॥
सिध साधिक तरसहि सभि लोइ ॥
Siḋʰ saaḋʰik ṫarsėh sabʰ lo▫é.
The Siddhas, the seekers and all men long for the Name.
|
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
पूरै भागि परापति होइ ॥३॥
Pooræ bʰaag paraapaṫ ho▫é. ||3||
It is obtained only by perfect destiny. ||3||
|
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
सभु किछु साचा साचा है सोइ ॥
Sabʰ kichʰ saachaa saachaa hæ so▫é.
The True Lord is everything; He is True.
|
ਊਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ऊतम ब्रहमु पछाणै कोइ ॥
Ooṫam barahm pachʰaaṇæ ko▫é.
Only a few realize the exalted Lord God.
|
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
सचु साचा सचु आपि द्रिड़ाए ॥
Sach saachaa sach aap driṛ▫aa▫é.
He is the Truest of the True; He Himself implants the True Name within.
