ਜਿਨਾ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਜਾਣੇ ॥੧੧॥
जिना आपे गुरमुखि दे वडिआई से जन सची दरगहि जाणे ॥११॥
Jinā āpe gurmukẖ ḏe vadi▫ā▫ī se jan sacẖī ḏargahi jāṇe. ||11||
The man, whom Thou blesseth with greatness, through the Guru, are renowned in Thy True court O Lord.

ਕਲਿ ਕਲਵਾਲੀ ਕਾਮੁ ਮਦੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਪੀਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
कलि कलवाली कामु मदु मनूआ पीवणहारु ॥
Kal kalvālī kām maḏ manū▫ā pīvaṇhār.
The Dark age is the vessel filled with the wine of lust and the mind is the tippler.

ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਟੋਰੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਭਰੀ ਪੀਲਾਵਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
क्रोध कटोरी मोहि भरी पीलावा अहंकारु ॥
Kroḏẖ katorī mohi bẖarī pīlāvā ahaʼnkār.
Wrath is the cup, filled Wrath is the cup, filled with worldly love and pride is the server.

ਮਜਲਸ ਕੂੜੇ ਲਬ ਕੀ ਪੀ ਪੀ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
मजलस कूड़े लब की पी पी होइ खुआरु ॥
Majlas kūṛe lab kī pī pī ho▫e kẖu▫ār.
Through excessive drinking in the company of falsehood and avarice the mortal is ruined.

ਕਰਣੀ ਲਾਹਣਿ ਸਤੁ ਗੁੜੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
करणी लाहणि सतु गुड़ु सचु सरा करि सारु ॥
Karṇī lāhaṇ saṯ guṛ sacẖ sarā kar sār.
Let good deeds be thy still, truth thy molasses and therewith make thou the sublime wine of the True Name.

ਗੁਣ ਮੰਡੇ ਕਰਿ ਸੀਲੁ ਘਿਉ ਸਰਮੁ ਮਾਸੁ ਆਹਾਰੁ ॥
गुण मंडे करि सीलु घिउ सरमु मासु आहारु ॥
Guṇ mande kar sīl gẖi▫o saram mās āhār.
Make virtue thy thin loaves civility thy clarified butter and modesty thy meat to eat.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਖਾਧੈ ਜਾਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥੧॥
गुरमुखि पाईऐ नानका खाधै जाहि बिकार ॥१॥
Gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai nānkā kẖāḏẖai jāhi bikār. ||1||
Such delicacies, O Nanak, are obtained through the Guru, by partaking which, the sins depart.

ਕਾਇਆ ਲਾਹਣਿ ਆਪੁ ਮਦੁ ਮਜਲਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਧਾਤੁ ॥
काइआ लाहणि आपु मदु मजलस त्रिसना धातु ॥
Kā▫i▫ā lāhaṇ āp maḏ majlas ṯarisnā ḏẖāṯ.
The human body is the vat, self conceit the wine and the society is of the mammonish desires.

ਮਨਸਾ ਕਟੋਰੀ ਕੂੜਿ ਭਰੀ ਪੀਲਾਏ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ॥
मनसा कटोरी कूड़ि भरी पीलाए जमकालु ॥
Mansā katorī kūṛ bẖarī pīlā▫e jamkāl.
The cup of mind's longings is full to brim with falsehood and Death's courier is the cup-bearer.

ਇਤੁ ਮਦਿ ਪੀਤੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਖਟੀਅਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
इतु मदि पीतै नानका बहुते खटीअहि बिकार ॥
Iṯ maḏ pīṯai nānkā bahuṯe kẖatī▫ah bikār.
By drinking this wine, O Nanak, the mortal earns multiple sins.

ਗਿਆਨੁ ਗੁੜੁ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਮੰਡੇ ਭਉ ਮਾਸੁ ਆਹਾਰੁ ॥
गिआनु गुड़ु सालाह मंडे भउ मासु आहारु ॥
Gi▫ān guṛ sālāh mande bẖa▫o mās āhār.
Make gnosis thy molasses, praise of God thy bread and the Lord's fear thy meat to eat.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
नानक इहु भोजनु सचु है सचु नामु आधारु ॥२॥
Nānak ih bẖojan sacẖ hai sacẖ nām āḏẖār. ||2||
Nanak, this is the true (spiritual) food, whereby the True Name shall become thy prop.

ਕਾਂਯਾਂ ਲਾਹਣਿ ਆਪੁ ਮਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧਾਰ ॥
कांयां लाहणि आपु मदु अम्रित तिस की धार ॥
Kāʼnyāʼn lāhaṇ āp maḏ amriṯ ṯis kī ḏẖār.
If body be the vat and self-realisation the wine, then the Name-Nectar becomes the stream thereof.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਲਾਪੁ ਹੋਇ ਲਿਵ ਕਟੋਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਰੀ ਪੀ ਪੀ ਕਟਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
सतसंगति सिउ मेलापु होइ लिव कटोरी अम्रित भरी पी पी कटहि बिकार ॥३॥
Saṯsangaṯ si▫o melāp ho▫e liv katorī amriṯ bẖarī pī pī katėh bikār. ||3||
By meeting with the saints society, the cup of Lord's love is filled with the Name-Nectar. By drinking it continually the sins are blotted out.

ਆਪੇ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬਾ ਆਪੇ ਖਟ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
आपे सुरि नर गण गंधरबा आपे खट दरसन की बाणी ॥
Āpe sur nar gaṇ ganḏẖarbā āpe kẖat ḏarsan kī baṇī.
Himself the Lord is the good man, heavenly herald and the celestial singer and Himself the utterer of the six schools of philosophy.

ਆਪੇ ਸਿਵ ਸੰਕਰ ਮਹੇਸਾ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
आपे सिव संकर महेसा आपे गुरमुखि अकथ कहाणी ॥
Āpe siv sankar mahesā āpe gurmukẖ akath kahāṇī.
The Lord Himself is the god of creation, the god of death and the god the nutrition. Through the Guru, He Himself narrates the unnarratable story.

ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗੀ ਆਪੇ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਿਬਾਣੀ ॥
आपे जोगी आपे भोगी आपे संनिआसी फिरै बिबाणी ॥
Āpe jogī āpe bẖogī āpe sani▫āsī firai bibāṇī.
He Himself is the renunciator, Himself and enjoyer and Himself, becoming a solitarian, wanders about in wildernesses.

ਆਪੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਗੋਸਟਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਸਿਆਣੀ ॥
आपै नालि गोसटि आपि उपदेसै आपे सुघड़ु सरूपु सिआणी ॥
Āpai nāl gosat āp upḏesai āpe sugẖaṛ sarūp si▫āṇī.
The Lord discourses with himself, Himself He instructs and Himself is discreet, graceful and wise.

ਆਪਣਾ ਚੋਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧੨॥
आपणा चोजु करि वेखै आपे आपे सभना जीआ का है जाणी ॥१२॥
Āpṇā cẖoj kar vekẖai āpe āpe sabẖnā jī▫ā kā hai jāṇī. ||12||
Staging His Play, He Himself beholds it. The Lord Himself is the knower of all the creatures.

ਏਹਾ ਸੰਧਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
एहा संधिआ परवाणु है जितु हरि प्रभु मेरा चिति आवै ॥
Ėhā sanḏẖi▫ā parvāṇ hai jiṯ har parabẖ merā cẖiṯ āvai.
This vesper prayer, which recalls my Lord God to my mind, is acceptable.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਲਾਵੈ ॥
हरि सिउ प्रीति ऊपजै माइआ मोहु जलावै ॥
Har si▫o parīṯ ūpjai mā▫i▫ā moh jalāvai.
It produces attachment with God and burns off the love of mammon.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਸੰਧਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
गुर परसादी दुबिधा मरै मनूआ असथिरु संधिआ करे वीचारु ॥
Gur parsādī ḏubiḏẖā marai manū▫ā asthir sanḏẖi▫ā kare vīcẖār.
By Guru's grace, duality is smothered, the mind becomes stable and man makes Lord meditation his twilight prayer.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਧਿਆ ਕਰੈ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਜੀਉ ਨ ਟਿਕੈ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥
नानक संधिआ करै मनमुखी जीउ न टिकै मरि जमै होइ खुआरु ॥१॥
Nānak sanḏẖi▫ā karai manmukẖī jī▫o na tikai mar jammai ho▫e kẖu▫ār. ||1||
Nanak, while reciting the evening prayer the mind of the perverse is not fully engaged in it and they are ruined in transmigration.

ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਕਰਤੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਫਿਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
प्रिउ प्रिउ करती सभु जगु फिरी मेरी पिआस न जाइ ॥
Pari▫o pari▫o karṯī sabẖ jag firī merī pi▫ās na jā▫e.
I wandered through the whole world calling out Love, my Love, but my thirst is quenched not.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਗਈ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਘਰਿ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
नानक सतिगुरि मिलिऐ मेरी पिआस गई पिरु पाइआ घरि आइ ॥२॥
Nānak saṯgur mili▫ai merī pi▫ās ga▫ī pir pā▫i▫ā gẖar ā▫e. ||2||
On meeting the True Guru, my desire is sated, O Nanak, and I have found my Beloved in my home, on return.

ਆਪੇ ਤੰਤੁ ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
आपे तंतु परम तंतु सभु आपे आपे ठाकुरु दासु भइआ ॥
Āpe ṯanṯ param ṯanṯ sabẖ āpe āpe ṯẖākur ḏās bẖa▫i▫ā.
The Lord Himself is the essence and all by Himself is the supreme essence. Himself is He the Lord and the slave.

ਆਪੇ ਦਸ ਅਠ ਵਰਨ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਜੁ ਲਇਆ ॥
आपे दस अठ वरन उपाइअनु आपि ब्रहमु आपि राजु लइआ ॥
Āpe ḏas aṯẖ varan upā▫i▫an āp barahm āp rāj la▫i▫ā.
Himself has He created the people of the eighteen castes, and the Exalted Lord, Himself has acquired His domain.

ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਛੋਡੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਕਰੇ ਦਇਆ ॥
आपे मारे आपे छोडै आपे बखसे करे दइआ ॥
Āpe māre āpe cẖẖodai āpe bakẖse kare ḏa▫i▫ā.
Himself He destroys, Himself He redeems and by His grace, Himself He pardons.

ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਨ ਭੁਲੈ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਸਚੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਥਿਆ ॥
आपि अभुलु न भुलै कब ही सभु सचु तपावसु सचु थिआ ॥
Āp abẖul na bẖulai kab hī sabẖ sacẖ ṯapāvas sacẖ thi▫ā.
He is infallible and strays never. Thoroughly even is the True Lord's justice.

ਆਪੇ ਜਿਨਾ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ॥੧੩॥
आपे जिना बुझाए गुरमुखि तिन अंदरहु दूजा भरमु गइआ ॥१३॥
Āpe jinā bujẖā▫e gurmukẖ ṯin anḏrahu ḏūjā bẖaram ga▫i▫ā. ||13||
Whom the Lord Himself instructs through the Guru, from within them duality and doubt depart.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤੈ ਤਨਿ ਉਡੈ ਖੇਹ ॥
हरि नामु न सिमरहि साधसंगि तै तनि उडै खेह ॥
Har nām na simrahi sāḏẖsang ṯai ṯan udai kẖeh.
The body, which meditates not on the God's Name in the saints' congregation, disintegrates like the dust.

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਿਸੈ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਫਿਟੁ ਅਲੂਣੀ ਦੇਹ ॥੧॥
जिनि कीती तिसै न जाणई नानक फिटु अलूणी देह ॥१॥
Jin kīṯī ṯisai na jāṇ▫ī Nānak fit alūṇī ḏeh. ||1||
Accursed and insipid is the body, O Nanak, which knows not Him, who created it.
