ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਰੋਹੈ ॥
दुरमति भागहीन मति फीके नामु सुनत आवै मनि रोहै ॥
Ḋurmaṫ bʰaagheen maṫ feeké naam sunaṫ aavæ man rohæ.
Evil-minded unfortunate and shallow-intellected are they who in their mind feel angry on hearing the Name.

ਕਊਆ ਕਾਗ ਕਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਖਾਇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੋਹੈ ॥੩॥
कऊआ काग कउ अमृत रसु पाईऐ त्रिपतै विसटा खाइ मुखि गोहै ॥३॥
Ka▫oo▫aa kaag ka▫o amriṫ ras paa▫ee▫æ ṫaripṫæ vistaa kʰaa▫é mukʰ gohæ. ||3||
Thou mayest place ambrosial juice before crow and raven but they are satiated only by eating ordure and dung with their mouth.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਤੈ ਕਊਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਹੋਹੈ ॥
अमृत सरु सतिगुरु सतिवादी जितु नातै कऊआ हंसु होहै ॥
Amriṫ sar saṫgur saṫivaaḋee jiṫ naaṫæ ka▫oo▫aa hans hohæ.
True Guru, the Truth -teller is a tank of Nectar by bathing where-in a crow (the perverse) becomes a swan (the Guru-ward).

ਨਾਨਕ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक धनु धंनु वडे वडभागी जिन्ह गुरमति नामु रिदै मलु धोहै ॥४॥२॥
Naanak ḋʰan ḋʰan vadé vadbʰaagee jinĥ gurmaṫ naam riḋæ mal ḋʰohæ. ||4||2||
Nanak, blessed, blessed great and very fortunate are they who wash away their hearts filth with God’s Name, under Guru’s instruction.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੇ ॥
हरि जन ऊतम ऊतम बाणी मुखि बोलहि परउपकारे ॥
Har jan ooṫam ooṫam baṇee mukʰ bolėh par▫upkaaré.
Sublime are God’s slaves and sublime is their speech. What they utter with their mouth is for other’s good.

ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਸਰਧਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
जो जनु सुणै सरधा भगति सेती करि किरपा हरि निसतारे ॥१॥
Jo jan suṇæ sarḋʰaa bʰagaṫ séṫee kar kirpaa har nisṫaaré. ||1||
The persons who hear them with faith and devotion the Lord by showering His benediction saves them.

ਰਾਮ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੇਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
राम मो कउ हरि जन मेलि पिआरे ॥
Raam mo ka▫o har jan mél pi▫aaré.
O Lord cause me to meet the dear saints of God.

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मेरे प्रीतम प्रान सतिगुरु गुरु पूरा हम पापी गुरि निसतारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Méré pareeṫam paraan saṫgur gur pooraa ham paapee gur nisṫaaré. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The True Guru the Perfect Guru is dear to me as my life. He Has saved me, the sinner. Pause.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥
गुरमुखि वडभागी वडभागे जिन हरि हरि नामु अधारे ॥
Gurmukʰ vadbʰaagee vadbʰaagé jin har har naam aḋʰaaré.
Very fortunate, very fortunate are the Guru-wards whose support is the Lord God’s Name.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
हरि हरि अमृतु हरि रसु पावहि गुरमति भगति भंडारे ॥२॥
Har har amriṫ har ras paavahi gurmaṫ bʰagaṫ bʰandaaré. ||2||
By Guru’s instruction they obtain Lord God’s nectar God’s essence and the store house of devotion.

ਜਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
जिन दरसनु सतिगुर सत पुरख न पाइआ ते भागहीण जमि मारे ॥
Jin ḋarsan saṫgur saṫ purakʰ na paa▫i▫aa ṫé bʰaagheeṇ jam maaré.
They who obtain not the vision of Sat-Guru the True Personage are unfortunate and are destroyed by Death’s courier.

ਸੇ ਕੂਕਰ ਸੂਕਰ ਗਰਧਭ ਪਵਹਿ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਦਯਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਮਹਾ ਹਤਿਆਰੇ ॥੩॥
से कूकर सूकर गरधभ पवहि गरभ जोनी दयि मारे महा हतिआरे ॥३॥
Sé kookar sookar garḋʰabʰ pavėh garabʰ jonee ḋa▫yi maaré mahaa haṫi▫aaré. ||3||
They are like curs, pigs and asses and are cast into the womb-existences and the Lord smites them as great murderers.

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਹੁ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥
दीन दइआल होहु जन ऊपरि करि किरपा लेहु उबारे ॥
Ḋeen ḋa▫i▫aal hohu jan oopar kar kirpaa lého ubaaré.
O kind to the poor, have mercy on Thy slave and save him by showering Thine benediction.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥
नानक जन हरि की सरणाई हरि भावै हरि निसतारे ॥४॥३॥
Naanak jan har kee sarṇaa▫ee har bʰaavæ har nisṫaaré. ||4||3||
Serf Nanak has entered God’s Sanctuary. If it pleases Thee O Lord God Thou shalt save Him.

ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
होहु दइआल मेरा मनु लावहु हउ अनदिनु राम नामु नित धिआई ॥
Hohu ḋa▫i▫aal méraa man laavhu ha▫o an▫ḋin raam naam niṫ ḋʰi▫aa▫ee.
Be merciful and so mould my mind O Lord that I may night and day ever meditate on Thy Name.

ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਜਪਿਐ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
सभि सुख सभि गुण सभि निधान हरि जितु जपिऐ दुख भुख सभ लहि जाई ॥१॥
Sabʰ sukʰ sabʰ guṇ sabʰ niḋʰaan har jiṫ japi▫æ ḋukʰ bʰukʰ sabʰ lėh jaa▫ee. ||1||
God is all peace all merit and all wealth and by remembering Him all misery and hunger depart.

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
मन मेरे मेरा राम नामु सखा हरि भाई ॥
Man méré méraa raam naam sakʰaa har bʰaa▫ee.
O my soul Lord God’s Name is my companion and brother.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरमति राम नामु जसु गावा अंति बेली दरगह लए छडाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmaṫ raam naam jas gaavaa anṫ bélee ḋargėh la▫é chʰadaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Under Guru’s instruction I hymn the Lord’s praise and it shall be my helper at the last moment and deliver me in God’s court. Pause.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੋਚ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
तूं आपे दाता प्रभु अंतरजामी करि किरपा लोच मेरै मनि लाई ॥
Ṫooⁿ aapé ḋaaṫaa parabʰ anṫarjaamee kar kirpaa loch méræ man laa▫ee.
O Lord, the Knower of hearts, Thou Thyself art the Giver and Thou hast mercifully infused the longing for Thee in my mind.

ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲੋਚ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲੋਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
मै मनि तनि लोच लगी हरि सेती प्रभि लोच पूरी सतिगुर सरणाई ॥२॥
Mæ man ṫan loch lagee har séṫee parabʰ loch pooree saṫgur sarṇaa▫ee. ||2||
The longing of my soul and body is for God and the Lord has fulfilled my longing since I have entered the sanctuary of the True Guru.

ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
माणस जनमु पुंनि करि पाइआ बिनु नावै ध्रिगु ध्रिगु बिरथा जाई ॥
Maaṇas janam punn kar paa▫i▫aa bin naavæ ḋʰarig ḋʰarig birṫʰaa jaa▫ee.
Human birth is obtained through beneficent acts and accursed, accursed it is without the Name it and goes in vain.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਵੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਥੁਕ ਥੂਕ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥
नाम बिना रस कस दुखु खावै मुखु फीका थुक थूक मुखि पाई ॥३॥
Naam binaa ras kas ḋukʰ kʰaavæ mukʰ feekaa ṫʰuk ṫʰook mukʰ paa▫ee. ||3||
Without the Name one obtains pain as his sweet and saltish dish, insipid remains his mouth and his face is spit, spit upon.

ਜੋ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
जो जन हरि प्रभ हरि हरि सरणा तिन दरगह हरि हरि दे वडिआई ॥
Jo jan har parabʰ har har sarṇaa ṫin ḋargėh har har ḋé vadi▫aa▫ee.
The persons, who have entered the sanctuary of the Lord God, Lord God, them the Lord Master grants glory in His court.

ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਕਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥
धंनु धंनु साबासि कहै प्रभु जन कउ जन नानक मेलि लए गलि लाई ॥४॥४॥
Ḋʰan ḋʰan saabaas kahæ parabʰ jan ka▫o jan Naanak mél la▫é gal laa▫ee. ||4||4||
Blest! Blest! and hail! the Lord says unto His slave. The Lord embraces him and blends him with Himself, O Serf Nanak.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਜੀਵਾਇਆ ॥
गुरमुखि सखी सहेली मेरी मो कउ देवहु दानु हरि प्रान जीवाइआ ॥
Gurmukʰ sakʰee sahélee méree mo ka▫o ḋévhu ḋaan har paraan jeevaa▫i▫aa.
O Guru-wards my friends and mates, give me the gift of God’s Name, which is the life of my very life.

ਹਮ ਹੋਵਹ ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
हम होवह लाले गोले गुरसिखा के जिन्हा अनदिनु हरि प्रभु पुरखु धिआइआ ॥१॥
Ham hovah laalé golé gursikʰaa ké jinĥaa an▫ḋin har parabʰ purakʰ ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa. ||1||
I am the slave and serf of the Guru’s Sikhs, who night and day meditate on the Omnipotent Lord God.

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪਗ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
मेरै मनि तनि बिरहु गुरसिख पग लाइआ ॥
Méræ man ṫan birahu gursikʰ pag laa▫i▫aa.
Within my heart and body, I have imbibed love for the feet of the Guru’s Sikhs.

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਖ ਭਾਈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मेरे प्रान सखा गुर के सिख भाई मो कउ करहु उपदेसु हरि मिलै मिलाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Méré paraan sakʰaa gur ké sikʰ bʰaa▫ee mo ka▫o karahu upḋés har milæ milaa▫i▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Gursikhs, my brothers, you are the friends of my very life. Impart instruction unto me. United by you, I can meet the Lord. Pause.
