ਆਗੈ ਸਹ ਭਾਵਾ ਕਿ ਨ ਭਾਵਾ ॥੨॥
आगै सह भावा कि न भावा ॥२॥
Āgai sah bẖāvā kė na bẖāvā. ||2||
but I do not know whether He will be pleased with me or not. ||2||
|
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਾ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
किआ जाना किआ होइगा री माई ॥
Ki▫ā jānā ki▫ā ho▫igā rī mā▫ī.
How do I know what will happen to me, O my mother?

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि दरसन बिनु रहनु न जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har ḏarsan bin rahan na jā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, I cannot survive. ||1||Pause||
|
ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਿਸ ਨ ਬੁਝਾਨੀ ॥
प्रेमु न चाखिआ मेरी तिस न बुझानी ॥
Parem na cẖākẖi▫ā merī ṯis na bujẖānī.
I have not tasted His Love, and my thirst is not quenched.

ਗਇਆ ਸੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਧਨ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
गइआ सु जोबनु धन पछुतानी ॥३॥
Ga▫i▫ā so joban ḏẖan pacẖẖuṯānī. ||3||
My beautiful youth has run away, and now I, the soul-bride, repent and regret. ||3||
|
ਅਜੈ ਸੁ ਜਾਗਉ ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸੀ ॥
अजै सु जागउ आस पिआसी ॥
Ajai so jāga▫o ās pi▫āsī.
Even now, I am held by hope and desire.
|
ਭਈਲੇ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਰਹਉ ਨਿਰਾਸੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
भईले उदासी रहउ निरासी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bẖa▫īle uḏāsī raha▫o nirāsī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I am depressed; I have no hope at all. ||1||Pause||
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਖੋਇ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
हउमै खोइ करे सीगारु ॥
Ha▫umai kẖo▫e kare sīgār.
She overcomes her egotism, and adorns herself;
|
ਤਉ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸੇਜੈ ਰਵੈ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥੪॥
तउ कामणि सेजै रवै भतारु ॥४॥
Ŧa▫o kāmaṇ sejai ravai bẖaṯār. ||4||
the Husband Lord now ravishes and enjoys the soul-bride on His Bed. ||4||
|
ਤਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੰਤੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
तउ नानक कंतै मनि भावै ॥
Ŧa▫o Nānak kanṯai man bẖāvai.
Then, O Nanak, the bride becomes pleasing to the Mind of her Husband Lord;

ਛੋਡਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਅਪਣੇ ਖਸਮ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੨੬॥
छोडि वडाई अपणे खसम समावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥२६॥
Cẖẖod vadā▫ī apṇe kẖasam samāvai. ||1|| rahā▫o. ||26||
she sheds her self-conceit, and is absorbed in her Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||26||

आसा महला १ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 1.
Aasaa, First Mehl:
|
ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਧਨ ਖਰੀ ਇਆਣੀ ॥
पेवकड़ै धन खरी इआणी ॥
Pevkaṛai ḏẖan kẖarī i▫āṇī.
In this world of my father's house, I, the soul-bride, have been very childish;
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਹ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
तिसु सह की मै सार न जाणी ॥१॥
Ŧis sah kī mai sār na jāṇī. ||1||
I did not realize the value of my Husband Lord. ||1||
|
ਸਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ॥
सहु मेरा एकु दूजा नही कोई ॥
Saho merā ek ḏūjā nahī ko▫ī.
My Husband is the One; there is no other like Him.
|
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नदरि करे मेलावा होई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Naḏar kare melāvā ho▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
If He bestows His Glance of Grace, then I shall meet Him. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਧਨ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥
साहुरड़ै धन साचु पछाणिआ ॥
Sāhurṛai ḏẖan sācẖ pacẖẖāṇi▫ā.
In the next world of my in-law's house, I, the soul-bride, shall realize Truth;
|
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਅਪਣਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
सहजि सुभाइ अपणा पिरु जाणिआ ॥२॥
Sahj subẖā▫e apṇā pir jāṇi▫ā. ||2||
I shall come to know the celestial peace of my Husband Lord. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਐਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
गुर परसादी ऐसी मति आवै ॥
Gur parsādī aisī maṯ āvai.
By Guru's Grace, such wisdom comes to me,
|
ਤਾਂ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕੰਤੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
तां कामणि कंतै मनि भावै ॥३॥
Ŧāʼn kāmaṇ kanṯai man bẖāvai. ||3||
so that the soul-bride becomes pleasing to the Mind of the Husband Lord. ||3||
|
ਕਹਤੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭੈ ਭਾਵ ਕਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
कहतु नानकु भै भाव का करे सीगारु ॥
Kahaṯ Nānak bẖai bẖāv kā kare sīgār.
Says Nanak, she who adorns herself with the Love and the Fear of God,
|
ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੇਜੈ ਰਵੈ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੭॥
सद ही सेजै रवै भतारु ॥४॥२७॥
Saḏ hī sejai ravai bẖaṯār. ||4||27||
enjoys her Husband Lord forever on His Bed. ||4||27||
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Aasaa, First Mehl:
|
ਨ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਪੂਤੁ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
न किस का पूतु न किस की माई ॥
Na kis kā pūṯ na kis kī mā▫ī.
No one is anyone else's son, and no one is anyone else's mother.

ਝੂਠੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
झूठै मोहि भरमि भुलाई ॥१॥
Jẖūṯẖai mohi bẖaram bẖulā▫ī. ||1||
Through false attachments, people wander around in doubt. ||1||
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹਉ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
मेरे साहिब हउ कीता तेरा ॥
Mere sāhib ha▫o kīṯā ṯerā.
O My Lord and Master, I am created by You.
|
ਜਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਜਪੀ ਨਾਉ ਤੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जां तूं देहि जपी नाउ तेरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jāʼn ṯūʼn ḏėh japī nā▫o ṯerā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
If You give it to me, I will chant Your Name. ||1||Pause||
|
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਅਉਗਣ ਕੂਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
बहुते अउगण कूकै कोई ॥
Bahuṯe a▫ugaṇ kūkai ko▫ī.
That person who is filled with all sorts of sins may pray at the Lord's Door,
|
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਖਸੇ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
जा तिसु भावै बखसे सोई ॥२॥
Jā ṯis bẖāvai bakẖse so▫ī. ||2||
but he is forgiven only when the Lord so wills. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥
गुर परसादी दुरमति खोई ॥
Gur parsādī ḏurmaṯ kẖo▫ī.
By Guru's Grace, evil-mindedness is destroyed.
|
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
जह देखा तह एको सोई ॥३॥
Jah ḏekẖā ṯah eko so▫ī. ||3||
Wherever I look, there I find the One Lord. ||3||
|
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
कहत नानक ऐसी मति आवै ॥
Kahaṯ Nānak aisī maṯ āvai.
Says Nanak, if one comes to such an understanding,
|
ਤਾਂ ਕੋ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੨੮॥
तां को सचे सचि समावै ॥४॥२८॥
Ŧāʼn ko sacẖe sacẖ samāvai. ||4||28||
then he is absorbed into the Truest of the True. ||4||28||
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਦੁਪਦੇ ॥
आसा महला १ दुपदे ॥
Āsā mėhlā 1 ḏupḏe.
Aasaa, First Mehl, Du-Padas:

ਤਿਤੁ ਸਰਵਰੜੈ ਭਈਲੇ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਕੀਆ ॥
तितु सरवरड़ै भईले निवासा पाणी पावकु तिनहि कीआ ॥
Ŧiṯ saravraṛai bẖa▫īle nivāsā pāṇī pāvak ṯinėh kī▫ā.
In that pool of the world, the people have their homes; there, the Lord has created water and fire.

ਪੰਕਜੁ ਮੋਹ ਪਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਚਾਲੈ ਹਮ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਡੂਬੀਅਲੇ ॥੧॥
पंकजु मोह पगु नही चालै हम देखा तह डूबीअले ॥१॥
Pankaj moh pag nahī cẖālai ham ḏekẖā ṯah dūbī▫ale. ||1||
In the mud of earthly attachment, their feet have become mired, and I have seen them drowning there. ||1||
|
ਮਨ ਏਕੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਮੂੜ ਮਨਾ ॥
मन एकु न चेतसि मूड़ मना ॥
Man ek na cẖeṯas mūṛ manā.
O foolish people, why don't you remember the One Lord?
|
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਲਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि बिसरत तेरे गुण गलिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har bisraṯ ṯere guṇ gali▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Forgetting the Lord, your virtues shall wither away. ||1||Pause||
|
ਨਾ ਹਉ ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਨਹੀ ਪੜਿਆ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
ना हउ जती सती नही पड़िआ मूरख मुगधा जनमु भइआ ॥
Nā ha▫o jaṯī saṯī nahī paṛi▫ā mūrakẖ mugḏẖā janam bẖa▫i▫ā.
I am not a celibate, nor am I truthful, nor a scholar; I was born foolish and ignorant.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਤੂੰ ਨਾਹੀ ਵੀਸਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੨੯॥
प्रणवति नानक तिन्ह की सरणा जिन्ह तूं नाही वीसरिआ ॥२॥२९॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ṯinĥ kī sarṇā jinĥ ṯūʼn nāhī vīsri▫ā. ||2||29||
Prays Nanak, I seek the Sanctuary of those who do not forget You, Lord. ||2||29||

ਛਿਅ ਘਰ ਛਿਅ ਗੁਰ ਛਿਅ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥
छिअ घर छिअ गुर छिअ उपदेस ॥
Cẖẖi▫a gẖar cẖẖi▫a gur cẖẖi▫a upḏes.
There are six systems of philosophy, six teachers, and six doctrines;
|
ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਸ ਅਨੇਕ ॥੧॥
गुर गुरु एको वेस अनेक ॥१॥
Gur gur eko ves anek. ||1||
but the Teacher of teachers is the One Lord, who appears in so many forms. ||1||
|
ਜੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
जै घरि करते कीरति होइ ॥
Jai gẖar karṯe kīraṯ ho▫e.
That system, where the Praises of the Creator are sung -
|
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सो घरु राखु वडाई तोहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
So gẖar rākẖ vadā▫ī ṯohi. ||1|| rahā▫o.
follow that system; in it rests greatness. ||1||Pause||
|
ਵਿਸੁਏ ਚਸਿਆ ਘੜੀਆ ਪਹਰਾ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਹੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
विसुए चसिआ घड़ीआ पहरा थिती वारी माहु भइआ ॥
visu▫e cẖasi▫ā gẖaṛī▫ā pahrā thiṯī vārī māhu bẖa▫i▫ā.
As the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weekdays, months,
|
ਸੂਰਜੁ ਏਕੋ ਰੁਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
सूरजु एको रुति अनेक ॥
Sūraj eko ruṯ anek.
and seasons, all originate from the one sun,
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਵੇਸ ॥੨॥੩੦॥
नानक करते के केते वेस ॥२॥३०॥
Nānak karṯe ke keṯe ves. ||2||30||
O Nanak, so do all forms originate from the One Creator. ||2||30||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
