ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਠਠਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਠਾਹਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ
ठठा मनूआ ठाहहि नाही ॥
Ŧẖaṯẖā manū▫ā ṯẖāhėh nāhī.
T'HAT'HA: They do not make trouble for anyone's mind,

ਜੋ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਏਕਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਹੀ
जो सगल तिआगि एकहि लपटाही ॥
Jo sagal ṯi▫āg ekėh laptāhī.
who have abandoned all else and who cling to the One Lord alone.

ਠਹਕਿ ਠਹਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੂਏ
ठहकि ठहकि माइआ संगि मूए ॥
Ŧẖahak ṯẖahak mā▫i▫ā sang mū▫e.
Those who are totally absorbed and preoccupied with Maya are dead;

ਉਆ ਕੈ ਕੁਸਲ ਕਤਹੂ ਹੂਏ
उआ कै कुसल न कतहू हूए ॥
U▫ā kai kusal na kaṯhū hū▫e.
they do not find happiness anywhere.

ਠਾਂਢਿ ਪਰੀ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਿਆ
ठांढि परी संतह संगि बसिआ ॥
Ŧẖāʼndẖ parī sanṯėh sang basi▫ā.
One who dwells in the Society of the Saints finds a great peace;

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਹਾ ਜੀਅ ਰਸਿਆ
अम्रित नामु तहा जीअ रसिआ ॥
Amriṯ nām ṯahā jī▫a rasi▫ā.
the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam becomes sweet to his soul.

ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਇਆ
ठाकुर अपुने जो जनु भाइआ ॥
Ŧẖākur apune jo jan bẖā▫i▫ā.
That humble being, who is pleasing to his Lord and Master -

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਆ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੮॥
नानक उआ का मनु सीतलाइआ ॥२८॥
Nānak u▫ā kā man sīṯlā▫i▫ā. ||28||
O Nanak, his mind is cooled and soothed. ||28||

Shalok:

ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਬੰਦਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥ
डंडउति बंदन अनिक बार सरब कला समरथ ॥
Dand▫uṯ banḏan anik bār sarab kalā samrath.
I bow down, and fall to the ground in humble adoration, countless times, to the All-powerful Lord, who possesses all powers.

ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਥ ॥੧॥
डोलन ते राखहु प्रभू नानक दे करि हथ ॥१॥
Dolan ṯe rākẖo parabẖū Nānak ḏe kar hath. ||1||
Please protect me, and save me from wandering, God. Reach out and give Nanak Your Hand. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਡਡਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਇਹੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਹ ਡੇਰਾ ਤਹ ਜਾਨੁ
डडा डेरा इहु नही जह डेरा तह जानु ॥
Dadā derā ih nahī jah derā ṯah jān.
DADDA: This is not your true place; you must know where that place really is.

ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨੁ
उआ डेरा का संजमो गुर कै सबदि पछानु ॥
U▫ā derā kā sanjamo gur kai sabaḏ pacẖẖān.
You shall come to realize the way to that place, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਇਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਉ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਘਾਲੈ
इआ डेरा कउ स्रमु करि घालै ॥
I▫ā derā ka▫o saram kar gẖālai.
This place, here, is established by hard work,

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਤਸੂ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ
जा का तसू नही संगि चालै ॥
Jā kā ṯasū nahī sang cẖālai.
but not one iota of this shall go there with you.

ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕੀ ਸੋ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ
उआ डेरा की सो मिति जानै ॥
U▫ā derā kī so miṯ jānai.
The value of that place beyond is known only to those,

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ
जा कउ द्रिसटि पूरन भगवानै ॥
Jā ka▫o ḏarisat pūran bẖagvānai.
upon whom the Perfect Lord God casts His Glance of Grace.

ਡੇਰਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਾਇਆ
डेरा निहचलु सचु साधसंग पाइआ ॥
Derā nihcẖal sacẖ sāḏẖsang pā▫i▫ā.
That permanent and true place is obtained in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਹ ਡੋਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੯॥
नानक ते जन नह डोलाइआ ॥२९॥
Nānak ṯe jan nah dolā▫i▫ā. ||29||
O Nanak, those humble beings do not waver or wander. ||29||

ਸਲੋਕੁ

Salok.
Shalok:

ਢਾਹਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਿਨਹਿ ਘਾਲਿਓ ਬੰਧ
ढाहन लागे धरम राइ किनहि न घालिओ बंध ॥
Dẖāhan lāge ḏẖaram rā▫e kinėh na gẖāli▫o banḏẖ.
When the Righteous Judge of Dharma begins to destroy someone, no one can place any obstacle in His Way.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਨਬੰਧ ॥੧॥
नानक उबरे जपि हरी साधसंगि सनबंध ॥१॥
Nānak ubre jap harī sāḏẖsang san▫banḏẖ. ||1||
O Nanak, those who join the Saadh Sangat and meditate on the Lord are saved. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਢਢਾ ਢੂਢਤ ਕਹ ਫਿਰਹੁ ਢੂਢਨੁ ਇਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ
ढढा ढूढत कह फिरहु ढूढनु इआ मन माहि ॥
Dẖadẖā dẖūdẖaṯ kah firahu dẖūdẖan i▫ā man māhi.
DHADHA: Where are you going, wandering and searching? Search instead within your own mind.

ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਸੈ ਬਨੁ ਬਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਫਿਰਾਹਿ
संगि तुहारै प्रभु बसै बनु बनु कहा फिराहि ॥
Sang ṯuhārai parabẖ basai ban ban kahā firāhi.
God is with you, so why do you wander around from forest to forest?

ਢੇਰੀ ਢਾਹਹੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ
ढेरी ढाहहु साधसंगि अह्मबुधि बिकराल ॥
Dẖerī ḏẖahhu sāḏẖsang ahaʼn▫buḏẖ bikrāl.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, tear down the mound of your frightful, egotistical pride.

ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਸਹੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ
सुखु पावहु सहजे बसहु दरसनु देखि निहाल ॥
Sukẖ pāvhu sėhje bashu ḏarsan ḏekẖ nihāl.
You shall find peace, and abide in intuitive bliss; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan, you shall be delighted.

ਢੇਰੀ ਜਾਮੈ ਜਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇ
ढेरी जामै जमि मरै गरभ जोनि दुख पाइ ॥
Dẖerī jāmai jam marai garabẖ jon ḏukẖ pā▫e.
One who has such a mound as this, dies and suffers the pain of reincarnation through the womb.

ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਲਪਟਤ ਰਹੈ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ
मोह मगन लपटत रहै हउ हउ आवै जाइ ॥
Moh magan laptaṯ rahai ha▫o ha▫o āvai jā▫e.
One who is intoxicated by emotional attachment, entangled in egotism, selfishness and conceit, shall continue coming and going in reincarnation.

ਢਹਤ ਢਹਤ ਅਬ ਢਹਿ ਪਰੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਸਰਨਾਇ
ढहत ढहत अब ढहि परे साध जना सरनाइ ॥
Dẖahaṯ dẖahaṯ ab dẖėh pare sāḏẖ janā sarnā▫e.
Slowly and steadily, I have now surrendered to the Holy Saints; I have come to their Sanctuary.

ਦੁਖ ਕੇ ਫਾਹੇ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੀਏ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩੦॥
दुख के फाहे काटिआ नानक लीए समाइ ॥३०॥
Ḏukẖ ke fāhe kāti▫ā Nānak lī▫e samā▫e. ||30||
God has cut away the noose of my pain; O Nanak, He has merged me into Himself. ||30||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਜਹ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੀਤ
जह साधू गोबिद भजनु कीरतनु नानक नीत ॥
Jah sāḏẖū gobiḏ bẖajan kīrṯan Nānak nīṯ.
Where the Holy people constantly vibrate the Kirtan of the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, O Nanak -

ਣਾ ਹਉ ਣਾ ਤੂੰ ਣਹ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਜਾਈਅਹੁ ਦੂਤ ॥੧॥
णा हउ णा तूं णह छुटहि निकटि न जाईअहु दूत ॥१॥
Ņā ha▫o ṇā ṯūʼn ṇah cẖẖutėh nikat na jā▫ī▫ahu ḏūṯ. ||1||
the Righteous Judge says, "Do not approach that place, O Messenger of Death, or else neither you nor I shall escape!" ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਣਾਣਾ ਰਣ ਤੇ ਸੀਝੀਐ ਆਤਮ ਜੀਤੈ ਕੋਇ
णाणा रण ते सीझीऐ आतम जीतै कोइ ॥
Ņāṇā raṇ ṯe sījẖī▫ai āṯam jīṯai ko▫e.
NANNA: One who conquers his own soul, wins the battle of life.

ਹਉਮੈ ਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋ ਸੋਭਾ ਦੂ ਹੋਇ
हउमै अन सिउ लरि मरै सो सोभा दू होइ ॥
Ha▫umai an si▫o lar marai so sobẖā ḏū ho▫e.
One who dies, while fighting against egotism and alienation, becomes sublime and beautiful.

ਮਣੀ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ
मणी मिटाइ जीवत मरै गुर पूरे उपदेस ॥
Maṇī mitā▫e jīvaṯ marai gur pūre upḏes.
One who eradicates his ego, remains dead while yet alive, through the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.

ਮਨੂਆ ਜੀਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੂਰਤਣ ਵੇਸ
मनूआ जीतै हरि मिलै तिह सूरतण वेस ॥
Manū▫ā jīṯai har milai ṯih sūrṯaṇ ves.
He conquers his mind, and meets the Lord; he is dressed in robes of honor.

ਣਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਣੋ ਏਕਹਿ ਟੇਕ ਅਧਾਰ
णा को जाणै आपणो एकहि टेक अधार ॥
Ņā ko jāṇai āpṇo ekėh tek aḏẖār.
He does not claim anything as his own; the One Lord is his Anchor and Support.

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਣਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰ
रैणि दिणसु सिमरत रहै सो प्रभु पुरखु अपार ॥
Raiṇ ḏiṇas simraṯ rahai so parabẖ purakẖ apār.
Night and day, he continually contemplates the Almighty, Infinite Lord God.

ਰੇਣ ਸਗਲ ਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਏਊ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ
रेण सगल इआ मनु करै एऊ करम कमाइ ॥
Reṇ sagal i▫ā man karai e▫ū karam kamā▫e.
He makes his mind the dust of all; such is the karma of the deeds he does.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥੩੧॥
हुकमै बूझै सदा सुखु नानक लिखिआ पाइ ॥३१॥
Hukmai būjẖai saḏā sukẖ Nānak likẖi▫ā pā▫e. ||31||
Understanding the Hukam of the Lord's Command, he attains everlasting peace. O Nanak, such is his pre-ordained destiny. ||31||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮੋਹਿ
तनु मनु धनु अरपउ तिसै प्रभू मिलावै मोहि ॥
Ŧan man ḏẖan arpa▫o ṯisai parabẖū milāvai mohi.
I offer my body, mind and wealth to anyone who can unite me with God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੋਹ ॥੧॥
नानक भ्रम भउ काटीऐ चूकै जम की जोह ॥१॥
Nānak bẖaram bẖa▫o kātī▫ai cẖūkai jam kī joh. ||1||
O Nanak, my doubts and fears have been dispelled, and the Messenger of Death does not see me any longer. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ

ਤਤਾ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਰਾਇ
तता ता सिउ प्रीति करि गुण निधि गोबिद राइ ॥
Ŧaṯā ṯā si▫o parīṯ kar guṇ niḏẖ gobiḏ rā▫e.
TATTA: Embrace love for the Treasure of Excellence, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe.

ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਛਤੇ ਤਪਤਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਇ
फल पावहि मन बाछते तपति तुहारी जाइ ॥
Fal pāvahi man bācẖẖ▫ṯe ṯapaṯ ṯuhārī jā▫e.
You shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires, and your burning thirst shall be quenched.
