ਤਤੁ ਨ ਚੀਨਹਿ ਬੰਨਹਿ ਪੰਡ ਪਰਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
ततु न चीनहि बंनहि पंड पराला ॥२॥
Ŧaṯ na cẖīnėh banėh pand parālā. ||2||
They do not understand the essence of reality, and they gather their worthless bundles of straw. ||2||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਕੁਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
मनमुख अगिआनि कुमारगि पाए ॥
Manmukẖ agi▫ān kumārag pā▫e.
The self-willed manmukhs, in ignorance, take the path of evil.
|
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
हरि नामु बिसारिआ बहु करम द्रिड़ाए ॥
Har nām bisāri▫ā baho karam driṛ▫ā▫e.
They forget the Lord's Name, and in its place, they establish all sorts of rituals.

ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ॥੩॥
भवजलि डूबे दूजै भाए ॥३॥
Bẖavjal dūbe ḏūjai bẖā▫e. ||3||
They drown in the terrifying world-ocean, in the love of duality. ||3||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੁ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
माइआ का मुहताजु पंडितु कहावै ॥
Mā▫i▫ā kā muhṯāj pandiṯ kahāvai.
Driven crazy, infatuated by Maya, they call themselves Pandits - religious scholars;
|
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਾਤਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
बिखिआ राता बहुतु दुखु पावै ॥
Bikẖi▫ā rāṯā bahuṯ ḏukẖ pāvai.
stained with corruption, they suffer terrible pain.
|
ਜਮ ਕਾ ਗਲਿ ਜੇਵੜਾ ਨਿਤ ਕਾਲੁ ਸੰਤਾਵੈ ॥੪॥
जम का गलि जेवड़ा नित कालु संतावै ॥४॥
Jam kā gal jevṛā niṯ kāl sanṯāvai. ||4||
The noose of the Messenger of Death is around their necks; they are constantly tormented by death. ||4||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
गुरमुखि जमकालु नेड़ि न आवै ॥
Gurmukẖ jamkāl neṛ na āvai.
The Messenger of Death does not even approach the Gurmukhs.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਵੈ ॥
हउमै दूजा सबदि जलावै ॥
Ha▫umai ḏūjā sabaḏ jalāvai.
Through the Word of the Shabad, they burn away their ego and duality.
|
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੫॥
नामे राते हरि गुण गावै ॥५॥
Nāme rāṯe har guṇ gāvai. ||5||
Attuned to the Name, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||5||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾਸੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
माइआ दासी भगता की कार कमावै ॥
Mā▫i▫ā ḏāsī bẖagṯā kī kār kamāvai.
Maya is the slave of the Lord's devotees; it works for them.
|
ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
चरणी लागै ता महलु पावै ॥
Cẖarṇī lāgai ṯā mahal pāvai.
One who falls at their feet attains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
|
ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
सद ही निरमलु सहजि समावै ॥६॥
Saḏ hī nirmal sahj samāvai. ||6||
He is forever immaculate; he is absorbed in intuitive peace. ||6||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਦਿਸਹਿ ਜੁਗ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
हरि कथा सुणहि से धनवंत दिसहि जुग माही ॥
Har kathā suṇėh se ḏẖanvanṯ ḏisėh jug māhī.
Those who listen to the Lord's Sermon are seen to be the wealthy people in this world.
|
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਹੀ ॥
तिन कउ सभि निवहि अनदिनु पूज कराही ॥
Ŧin ka▫o sabẖ nivėh an▫ḏin pūj karāhī.
Everyone bows down to them, and adores them, night and day.
|
ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੭॥
सहजे गुण रवहि साचे मन माही ॥७॥
Sėhje guṇ ravėh sācẖe man māhī. ||7||
They intuitively savor the Glories of the True Lord within their minds. ||7||
|
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥
पूरै सतिगुरि सबदु सुणाइआ ॥
Pūrai saṯgur sabaḏ suṇā▫i▫ā.
The Perfect True Guru has revealed the Shabad;

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਟੇ ਚਉਥੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
त्रै गुण मेटे चउथै चितु लाइआ ॥
Ŧarai guṇ mete cẖa▫uthai cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā.
it eradicates the three qualities, and attunes the consciousness to the fourth state.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੪॥
नानक हउमै मारि ब्रहम मिलाइआ ॥८॥४॥
Nānak ha▫umai mār barahm milā▫i▫ā. ||8||4||
O Nanak, subduing egotism, one is absorbed into God. ||8||4||

Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 3.
Gauree, Third Mehl:

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵੇਦੁ ਪੜੈ ਵਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
ब्रहमा वेदु पड़ै वादु वखाणै ॥
Barahmā veḏ paṛai vāḏ vakẖāṇai.
Brahma studied the Vedas, but these lead only to debates and disputes.
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਾਮਸੁ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
अंतरि तामसु आपु न पछाणै ॥
Anṯar ṯāmas āp na pacẖẖāṇai.
He is filled with darkness; he does not understand himself.
|
ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੧॥
ता प्रभु पाए गुर सबदु वखाणै ॥१॥
Ŧā parabẖ pā▫e gur sabaḏ vakẖāṇai. ||1||
And yet, if he chants the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he finds God. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥
गुर सेवा करउ फिरि कालु न खाइ ॥
Gur sevā kara▫o fir kāl na kẖā▫e.
So serve the Guru, and you shall not be consumed by death.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਖਾਧੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मनमुख खाधे दूजै भाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Manmukẖ kẖāḏẖe ḏūjai bẖā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The self-willed manmukhs have been consumed by the love of duality. ||1||Pause||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਸੀਧੇ ॥
गुरमुखि प्राणी अपराधी सीधे ॥
Gurmukẖ parāṇī aprāḏẖī sīḏẖe.
Becoming Gurmukh, the sinful mortals are purified.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਰੀਧੇ ॥
गुर कै सबदि अंतरि सहजि रीधे ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ anṯar sahj rīḏẖe.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they find intuitive peace and poise deep within.
|
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੀਧੇ ॥੨॥
मेरा प्रभु पाइआ गुर कै सबदि सीधे ॥२॥
Merā parabẖ pā▫i▫ā gur kai sabaḏ sīḏẖe. ||2||
I have found my God, through the Guru's Shabad, and I have been reformed. ||2||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरि मेले प्रभि आपि मिलाए ॥
Saṯgur mele parabẖ āp milā▫e.
God Himself unites us in Union with the True Guru,
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
मेरे प्रभ साचे कै मनि भाए ॥
Mere parabẖ sācẖe kai man bẖā▫e.
when we become pleasing to the Mind of my True God.
|
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੩॥
हरि गुण गावहि सहजि सुभाए ॥३॥
Har guṇ gāvahi sahj subẖā▫e. ||3||
They sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, in the poise of celestial peace. ||3||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥
बिनु गुर साचे भरमि भुलाए ॥
Bin gur sācẖe bẖaram bẖulā▫e.
Without the True Guru, they are deluded by doubt.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਏ ॥
मनमुख अंधे सदा बिखु खाए ॥
Manmukẖ anḏẖe saḏā bikẖ kẖā▫e.
The blind, self-willed manmukhs constantly eat poison.
|
ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ਸਹਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥
जम डंडु सहहि सदा दुखु पाए ॥४॥
Jam dand sahėh saḏā ḏukẖ pā▫e. ||4||
They are beaten by the Messenger of Death with his rod, and they suffer in constant pain. ||4||
|
ਜਮੂਆ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
जमूआ न जोहै हरि की सरणाई ॥
Jamū▫ā na johai har kī sarṇā▫ī.
The Messenger of Death does not catch sight of those who enter the Sanctuary of the Lord.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
हउमै मारि सचि लिव लाई ॥
Ha▫umai mār sacẖ liv lā▫ī.
Subduing egotism, they lovingly center their consciousness on the True Lord.
|
ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੫॥
सदा रहै हरि नामि लिव लाई ॥५॥
Saḏā rahai har nām liv lā▫ī. ||5||
They keep their consciousness constantly focused on the Lord's Name. ||5||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਵਿਤਾ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवहि से जन निरमल पविता ॥
Saṯgur sevėh se jan nirmal paviṯā.
Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are pure and immaculate.
|
ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤਾ ॥
मन सिउ मनु मिलाइ सभु जगु जीता ॥
Man si▫o man milā▫e sabẖ jag jīṯā.
Merging their minds into the Mind, they conquer the entire world.
|
ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੬॥
इन बिधि कुसलु तेरै मेरे मीता ॥६॥
In biḏẖ kusal ṯerai mere mīṯā. ||6||
In this way, you too shall find happiness, O my friend. ||6||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरू सेवे सो फलु पाए ॥
Saṯgurū seve so fal pā▫e.
Those who serve the True Guru are blessed with fruitful rewards.
|
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
हिरदै नामु विचहु आपु गवाए ॥
Hirḏai nām vicẖahu āp gavā▫e.
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides in their hearts; selfishness and conceit depart from within them.
|
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਏ ॥੭॥
अनहद बाणी सबदु वजाए ॥७॥
Anhaḏ baṇī sabaḏ vajā▫e. ||7||
The unstruck melody of the Shabad vibrates for them. ||7||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਨ ਸੀਧੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
सतिगुर ते कवनु कवनु न सीधो मेरे भाई ॥
Saṯgur ṯe kavan kavan na sīḏẖo mere bẖā▫ī.
Who - who has not been purified by the True Guru, O my Siblings of Destiny?

ਭਗਤੀ ਸੀਧੇ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
भगती सीधे दरि सोभा पाई ॥
Bẖagṯī sīḏẖe ḏar sobẖā pā▫ī.
The devotees are purified, and honored in His Court.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੮॥੫॥
नानक राम नामि वडिआई ॥८॥५॥
Nānak rām nām vadi▫ā▫ī. ||8||5||
O Nanak, greatness is in the Lord's Name. ||8||5||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
गउड़ी महला ३ ॥

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

Ŧarai guṇ vakẖāṇai bẖaram na jā▫e.
Those who speak of the three qualities - their doubts do not depart.

ਬੰਧਨ ਨ ਤੂਟਹਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
बंधन न तूटहि मुकति न पाइ ॥
Banḏẖan na ṯūtėh mukaṯ na pā▫e.
Their bonds are not broken, and they do not obtain liberation.
|
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
मुकति दाता सतिगुरु जुग माहि ॥१॥
Mukaṯ ḏāṯā saṯgur jug māhi. ||1||
The True Guru is the Bestower of liberation in this age. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
गुरमुखि प्राणी भरमु गवाइ ॥
Gurmukẖ parāṇī bẖaram gavā▫e.
Those mortals who become Gurmukh give up their doubts.
|
ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सहज धुनि उपजै हरि लिव लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sahj ḏẖun upjai har liv lā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The celestial music wells up, when they lovingly attune their consciousness to the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਾਲੈ ਕੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰਾ ॥
त्रै गुण कालै की सिरि कारा ॥
Ŧarai guṇ kālai kī sir kārā.
Those who are controlled by the three qualities have death hovering over their heads.
