Millions upon millions offer millions of sermons and stories.

Ḋéḋaa ḋé læḋé ṫʰak paahi.
The Great Giver keeps on giving, while those who receive grow weary of receiving.

Aakʰahi mangahi ḋéhi ḋéhi ḋaaṫ karé ḋaaṫaar.
People beg and pray, “Give to us, give to us”, and the Great Giver gives His Gifts.

ਫੇਰਿ ਕਿ ਅਗੈ ਰਖੀਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਸੈ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥

फेरि कि अगै रखीऐ जितु दिसै दरबारु ॥
Fér kė agæ rakʰee▫æ jiṫ ḋisæ ḋarbaar.
So, what offering can we place before Him, by which we might see the Darbaar of His Court?

ਮੁਹੌ ਕਿ ਬੋਲਣੁ ਬੋਲੀਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

Muhou kė bolaṇ bolee▫æ jiṫ suṇ ḋʰaré pi▫aar.
What words can we speak to evoke His Love?

Amriṫ vélaa sach naa▫o vadi▫aa▫ee veechaar.
In the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours before dawn, chant the True Name, and contemplate His Glorious Greatness.

ਕਰਮੀ ਆਵੈ ਕਪੜਾ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੋਖੁ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥

करमी आवै कपड़ा नदरी मोखु दुआरु ॥
Karmee aavæ kapṛaa naḋree mokʰ ḋu▫aar.
By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found.

ਨਾਨਕ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੪॥

Ḋukʰ par▫har sukʰ gʰar læ jaa▫é.
Your pain shall be sent far away, and peace shall come to your home.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਦੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਦੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥

गुरमुखि नादं गुरमुखि वेदं गुरमुखि रहिआ समाई ॥
Gurmukʰ naaḋaⁿ gurmukʰ véḋaⁿ gurmukʰ rahi▫aa samaa▫ee.
The Guru’s Word is the Sound-current of the Naad; the Guru’s Word is the Wisdom of the Vedas; the Guru’s Word is all-pervading.

ਗੁਰੁ ਈਸਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਬਰਮਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਮਾਈ ॥

गुरु ईसरु गुरु गोरखु बरमा गुरु पारबती माई ॥
Gur eesar gur gorakʰ barmaa gur paarbaṫee maa▫ee.
The Guru is Shiva, the Guru is Vishnu and Brahma; the Guru is Paarvati and Lakhshmi.

ਜੇ ਹਉ ਜਾਣਾ ਆਖਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

जे हउ जाणा आखा नाही कहणा कथनु न जाई ॥
Jé ha▫o jaaṇaa aakʰaa naahee kahṇaa kaṫʰan na jaa▫ee.
Even knowing God, I cannot describe Him; He cannot be described in words.

Sabʰnaa jee▫aa kaa ik ḋaaṫaa so mæ visar na jaa▫ee. ||5||

ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਣੇ ਕਿ ਨਾਇ ਕਰੀ ॥

तीरथि नावा जे तिसु भावा विणु भाणे कि नाइ करी ॥
Ṫiraṫʰ naavaa jé ṫis bʰaavaa viṇ bʰaaṇé kė naa▫é karee.
If I am pleasing to Him, then that is my pilgrimage and cleansing bath. Without pleasing Him, what good are ritual cleansings?

ਜੇਤੀ ਸਿਰਠਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਵੇਖਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਲਈ ॥

जेती सिरठि उपाई वेखा विणु करमा कि मिलै लई ॥
Jéṫee siratʰ upaa▫ee vékʰaa viṇ karmaa kė milæ la▫ee.
I gaze upon all the created beings: without the karma of good actions, what are they given to receive?

ਮਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਤਨ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮਾਣਿਕ ਜੇ ਇਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣੀ ॥

मति विचि रतन जवाहर माणिक जे इक गुर की सिख सुणी ॥
Maṫ vich raṫan javaahar maaṇik jé ik gur kee sikʰ suṇee.
Within the mind are gems, jewels and rubies, if you listen to the Guru’s Teachings, even once.

Even if you could live throughout the four ages, or even ten times more,

ਨਵਾ ਖੰਡਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

नवा खंडा विचि जाणीऐ नालि चलै सभु कोइ ॥
Navaa kʰanda vich jaaṇee▫æ naal chalæ sabʰ ko▫é.
and even if you were known throughout the nine continents and followed by all,

ਚੰਗਾ ਨਾਉ ਰਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਸੁ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਲੇਇ ॥

चंगा नाउ रखाइ कै जसु कीरति जगि लेइ ॥
Changa naa▫o rakʰaa▫é kæ jas keeraṫ jag lé▫é.
with a good name and reputation, with praise and fame throughout the world-

ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤ ਵਾਤ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਕੇ ॥

जे तिसु नदरि न आवई त वात न पुछै के ॥
Jé ṫis naḋar na aavee ṫa vaaṫ na puchʰæ ké.
still, if the Lord does not bless you with His Glance of Grace, then who cares? What is the use?

ਕੀਟਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕੀਟੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੋਸੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇ ॥

कीटा अंदरि कीटु करि दोसी दोसु धरे ॥
Keetaa anḋar keet kar ḋosee ḋos ḋʰaré.
Among worms, you would be considered a lowly worm, and even contemptible sinners would hold you in contempt.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਗੁਣਿ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਣਵੰਤਿਆ ਗੁਣੁ ਦੇ ॥

नानक निरगुणि गुणु करे गुणवंतिआ गुणु दे ॥
Naanak nirguṇ guṇ karé guṇvanṫi▫aa guṇ ḋé.
O Nanak! God blesses the unworthy with virtue, and bestows virtue on the virtuous.

ਤੇਹਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਜਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਕੋਇ ਕਰੇ ॥੭॥

तेहा कोइ न सुझई जि तिसु गुणु कोइ करे ॥७॥
Ṫéhaa ko▫é na sujʰ▫ee jė ṫis guṇ ko▫é karé. ||7||
No one can even imagine anyone who can bestow virtue upon Him. ||7||

Listening-the Siddhas, the spiritual teachers, the heroic warriors, the yogic masters.

Suṇi▫æ ḋʰaraṫ ḋʰaval aakaas.
Listening-the earth, its support and the Akashic ethers.

ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੀਪ ਲੋਅ ਪਾਤਾਲ ॥

Suṇi▫æ ḋeep lo▫a paaṫaal.
Listening-the oceans, the lands of the world and the nether regions of the underworld.

Listening-Death cannot even touch you.

Listening-pain and sin are erased. ||8||
