Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਕਰੈ ਦੁਹਕਰਮ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
करै दुहकरम दिखावै होरु ॥
Karæ ḋuhkaram ḋikʰaavæ hor.
They do their evil deeds, and pretend otherwise;
|
ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਰੁ ॥੧॥
राम की दरगह बाधा चोरु ॥१॥
Raam kee ḋargėh baaḋʰaa chor. ||1||
but in the Court of the Lord, they shall be bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮੈ ਸੋਈ ਰਾਮਾਣਾ ॥
रामु रमै सोई रामाणा ॥
Raam ramæ so▫ee raamaaṇaa.
Those who remember the Lord belong to the Lord.
|
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जलि थलि महीअलि एकु समाणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jal ṫʰal mahee▫al ék samaaṇaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The One Lord is contained in the water, the land and the sky. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
अंतरि बिखु मुखि अमृतु सुणावै ॥
Anṫar bikʰ mukʰ amriṫ suṇaavæ.
Their inner beings are filled with poison, and yet with their mouths, they preach words of Ambrosial Nectar.

ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
जम पुरि बाधा चोटा खावै ॥२॥
Jam pur baaḋʰaa chotaa kʰaavæ. ||2||
Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they are punished and beaten. ||2||
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਪੜਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
अनिक पड़दे महि कमावै विकार ॥
Anik paṛ▫ḋé mėh kamaavæ vikaar.
Hiding behind many screens, they commit acts of corruption,
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੩॥
खिन महि प्रगट होहि संसार ॥३॥
Kʰin mėh pargat hohi sansaar. ||3||
but in an instant, they are revealed to all the world. ||3||
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
अंतरि साचि नामि रसि राता ॥
Anṫar saach naam ras raaṫaa.
Those whose inner beings are true, who are attuned to the ambrosial essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord -

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੭੧॥੧੪੦॥
नानक तिसु किरपालु बिधाता ॥४॥७१॥१४०॥
Naanak ṫis kirpaal biḋʰaaṫaa. ||4||71||140||
O Nanak! The Lord, the Architect of Destiny, is merciful to them. ||4||71||140||

ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਉਤਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
राम रंगु कदे उतरि न जाइ ॥
Raam rang kaḋé uṫar na jaa▫é.
The Lord’s Love shall never leave or depart.
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੧॥
गुरु पूरा जिसु देइ बुझाइ ॥१॥
Gur pooraa jis ḋé▫é bujʰaa▫é. ||1||
They alone understand, unto whom the Perfect Guru gives it. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ॥
हरि रंगि राता सो मनु साचा ॥
Har rang raaṫaa so man saachaa.
One whose mind is attuned to the Lord’s Love is true.
|
ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
लाल रंग पूरन पुरखु बिधाता ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Laal rang pooran purakʰ biḋʰaaṫaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Love of the Beloved, the Architect of Destiny, is perfect. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
संतह संगि बैसि गुन गाइ ॥
Sanṫėh sang bæs gun gaa▫é.
Sitting in the Society of the Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
|
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
ता का रंगु न उतरै जाइ ॥२॥
Ṫaa kaa rang na uṫræ jaa▫é. ||2||
The color of His Love shall never fade away. ||2||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
बिनु हरि सिमरन सुखु नही पाइआ ॥
Bin har simran sukʰ nahee paa▫i▫aa.
Without meditating in remembrance of the Lord, peace is not found.

ਆਨ ਰੰਗ ਫੀਕੇ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
आन रंग फीके सभ माइआ ॥३॥
Aan rang feeké sabʰ maa▫i▫aa. ||3||
All the other loves and tastes of Maya are bland and insipid. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਰੰਗੇ ਸੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
गुरि रंगे से भए निहाल ॥
Gur rangé sé bʰa▫é nihaal.
Those who are imbued with love by the Guru become happy.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੪॥੭੨॥੧੪੧॥
कहु नानक गुर भए है दइआल ॥४॥७२॥१४१॥
Kaho Naanak gur bʰa▫é hæ ḋa▫i▫aal. ||4||72||141||
Says Nanak, the Guru has become merciful to them. ||4||72||141||

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸੇ ॥
सिमरत सुआमी किलविख नासे ॥
Simraṫ su▫aamee kilvikʰ naasé.
Meditating in remembrance of the Lord Master, sinful mistakes are erased,
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਿਵਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
सूख सहज आनंद निवासे ॥१॥
Sookʰ sahj aananḋ nivaasé. ||1||
and one comes to abide in peace, celestial joy and bliss. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਭਰੋਸਾ ॥
राम जना कउ राम भरोसा ॥
Raam janaa ka▫o raam bʰarosaa.
The Lord’s humble servants place their faith in the Lord.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਭੁ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नामु जपत सभु मिटिओ अंदेसा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Naam japaṫ sabʰ miti▫o anḋésaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all anxieties are dispelled. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਭਰਾਤੀ ॥
साधसंगि कछु भउ न भराती ॥
Saaḋʰsang kachʰ bʰa▫o na bʰaraaṫee.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, there is no fear or doubt.
|
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
गुण गोपाल गाईअहि दिनु राती ॥२॥
Guṇ gopaal gaa▫ee▫ah ḋin raaṫee. ||2||
The Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung there, day and night. ||2||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੋਟ ॥
करि किरपा प्रभ बंधन छोट ॥
Kar kirpaa parabʰ banḋʰan chʰot.
Granting His Grace, God has released me from bondage.
|
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਓਟ ॥੩॥
चरण कमल की दीनी ओट ॥३॥
Charaṇ kamal kee ḋeenee ot. ||3||
He has given me the Support of His Lotus Feet. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਈ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
कहु नानक मनि भई परतीति ॥
Kaho Naanak man bʰa▫ee parṫeeṫ.
Says Nanak, faith comes into the mind of His servant,
|
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਸੁ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਨੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੭੩॥੧੪੨॥
निरमल जसु पीवहि जन नीति ॥४॥७३॥१४२॥
Nirmal jas peevėh jan neeṫ. ||4||73||142||
who continually drinks in the Immaculate Praises of the Lord. ||4||73||142||
|
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 5.
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
हरि चरणी जा का मनु लागा ॥
Har charṇee jaa kaa man laagaa.
Those who keep their minds attached to the Lord’s Feet -
|
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
दूखु दरदु भ्रमु ता का भागा ॥१॥
Ḋookʰ ḋaraḋ bʰaram ṫaa kaa bʰaagaa. ||1||
pain, suffering and doubt run away from them. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
हरि धन को वापारी पूरा ॥
Har ḋʰan ko vaapaaree pooraa.
Those who deal in the Lord’s wealth are perfect.
|
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिसहि निवाजे सो जनु सूरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jisahi nivaajé so jan sooraa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Those who are honored by the Lord are the true spiritual heroes. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
जा कउ भए क्रिपाल गुसाई ॥
Jaa ka▫o bʰa▫é kirpaal gusaa▫ee.
Those humble beings, unto whom the Lord of the Universe shows mercy,
|
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
से जन लागे गुर की पाई ॥२॥
Sé jan laagé gur kee paa▫ee. ||2||
fall at the Guru’s Feet. ||2||
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
सूख सहज सांति आनंदा ॥
Sookʰ sahj saaⁿṫ aananḋaa.
They are blessed with peace, celestial bliss, tranquility and ecstasy;
|
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
जपि जपि जीवे परमानंदा ॥३॥
Jap jap jeevé parmaananḋaa. ||3||
chanting and meditating, they live in supreme bliss. ||3||
|
ਨਾਮ ਰਾਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਾਟੀ ॥
नाम रासि साध संगि खाटी ॥
Naam raas saaḋʰ sang kʰaatee.
In the Saadh Sangat, I have earned the wealth of the Naam.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਦਾ ਕਾਟੀ ॥੪॥੭੪॥੧੪੩॥
कहु नानक प्रभि अपदा काटी ॥४॥७४॥१४३॥
Kaho Naanak parabʰ apḋaa kaatee. ||4||74||143||
Says Nanak, God has relieved my pain. ||4||74||143||

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ॥
हरि सिमरत सभि मिटहि कलेस ॥
Har simraṫ sabʰ mitėh kalés.
Meditating in remembrance of the Lord, all suffering is eradicated.
|
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵੇਸ ॥੧॥
चरण कमल मन महि परवेस ॥१॥
Charaṇ kamal man mėh parvés. ||1||
The Lord’s Lotus Feet are enshrined within my mind. ||1||
|
ਉਚਰਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਖ ਬਾਰੀ ॥
उचरहु राम नामु लख बारी ॥
Uchrahu raam naam lakʰ baaree.
Chant the Lord’s Name, hundreds of thousands of times, O my dear,
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अमृत रसु पीवहु प्रभ पिआरी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Amriṫ ras peevhu parabʰ pi▫aaree. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
and drink deeply of the Ambrosial Essence of God. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥
सूख सहज रस महा अनंदा ॥
Sookʰ sahj ras mahaa ananḋaa.
Peace, celestial bliss, pleasures and the greatest ecstasy are obtained;
|
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੨॥
जपि जपि जीवे परमानंदा ॥२॥
Jap jap jeevé parmaananḋaa. ||2||
chanting and meditating, you shall live in supreme bliss. ||2||
|
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਖੋਏ ॥
काम क्रोध लोभ मद खोए ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ lobʰ maḋ kʰo▫é.
Sexual desire, anger, greed and ego are eradicated;
|
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭ ਧੋਏ ॥੩॥
साध कै संगि किलबिख सभ धोए ॥३॥
Saaḋʰ kæ sang kilbikʰ sabʰ ḋʰo▫é. ||3||
in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sinful mistakes are washed away. ||3||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
करि किरपा प्रभ दीन दइआला ॥
Kar kirpaa parabʰ ḋeen ḋa▫i▫aalaa.
Grant Your Grace, O God, O Merciful to the meek.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੭੫॥੧੪੪॥
नानक दीजै साध रवाला ॥४॥७५॥१४४॥
Naanak ḋeejæ saaḋʰ ravaalaa. ||4||75||144||
Please bless Nanak with the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||75||144||
