ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਓਲਾ ॥
मन मेरे गहु हरि नाम का ओला ॥
Man mere gahu har nām kā olā.
O my mind, hold tight to the Support of the Lord's Name.

ਤੁਝੈ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਾਤਾ ਝੋਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तुझै न लागै ताता झोला ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧujẖai na lāgai ṯāṯā jẖolā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The hot winds shall never even touch you. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਿਉ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
जिउ बोहिथु भै सागर माहि ॥
Ji▫o bohith bẖai sāgar māhi.
Like a boat in the ocean of fear;
|
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਦੀਪਾਹਿ ॥
अंधकार दीपक दीपाहि ॥
Anḏẖkār ḏīpak ḏīpāhi.
like a lamp which illumines the darkness;
|
ਅਗਨਿ ਸੀਤ ਕਾ ਲਾਹਸਿ ਦੂਖ ॥
अगनि सीत का लाहसि दूख ॥
Agan sīṯ kā lāhas ḏūkẖ.
like fire which takes away the pain of cold -
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੂਖ ॥੨॥
नामु जपत मनि होवत सूख ॥२॥
Nām japaṯ man hovaṯ sūkẖ. ||2||
just so, chanting the Name, the mind becomes peaceful. ||2||
|
ਉਤਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
उतरि जाइ तेरे मन की पिआस ॥
Uṯar jā▫e ṯere man kī pi▫ās.
The thirst of your mind shall be quenched,
|
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਗਲੀ ਆਸ ॥
पूरन होवै सगली आस ॥
Pūran hovai saglī ās.
and all hopes shall be fulfilled.
|
ਡੋਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
डोलै नाही तुमरा चीतु ॥
Dolai nāhī ṯumrā cẖīṯ.
Your consciousness shall not waver.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
अम्रित नामु जपि गुरमुखि मीत ॥३॥
Amriṯ nām jap gurmukẖ mīṯ. ||3||
Meditate on the Ambrosial Naam as Gurmukh, O my friend. ||3||
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
नामु अउखधु सोई जनु पावै ॥
Nām a▫ukẖaḏẖ so▫ī jan pāvai.
He alone receives the panacea, the medicine of the Naam,
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਵੈ ॥
करि किरपा जिसु आपि दिवावै ॥
Kar kirpā jis āp ḏivāvai.
unto whom the Lord, in His Grace, bestows it.
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸੈ ॥
हरि हरि नामु जा कै हिरदै वसै ॥
Har har nām jā kai hirḏai vasai.
One whose heart is filled with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har -
|
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਸੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੭੯॥
दूखु दरदु तिह नानक नसै ॥४॥१०॥७९॥
Ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ ṯih Nānak nasai. ||4||10||79||
O Nanak, his pains and sorrows are eliminated. ||4||10||79||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ५ ॥
Ga▫oṛī gu▫ārerī mėhlā 5.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦਰਬੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਅਘਾਨਾ ॥
बहुतु दरबु करि मनु न अघाना ॥
Bahuṯ ḏarab kar man na agẖānā.
Even with vast sums of wealth, the mind is not satisfied.
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਹ ਪਤੀਆਨਾ ॥
अनिक रूप देखि नह पतीआना ॥
Anik rūp ḏekẖ nah paṯī▫ānā.
Gazing upon countless beauties, the man is not satisfied.
|
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਜਾਨਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
पुत्र कलत्र उरझिओ जानि मेरी ॥
Puṯar kalṯar urjẖi▫o jān merī.
He is so involved with his wife and sons - he believes that they belong to him.
|
ਓਹ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਓਇ ਭਸਮੈ ਢੇਰੀ ॥੧॥
ओह बिनसै ओइ भसमै ढेरी ॥१॥
Oh binsai o▫e bẖasmai dẖerī. ||1||
That wealth shall pass away, and those relatives shall be reduced to ashes. ||1||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਦੇਖਉ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੇ ॥
बिनु हरि भजन देखउ बिललाते ॥
Bin har bẖajan ḏekẖ▫a▫u billāṯe.
Without meditating and vibrating on the Lord, they are crying out in pain.

ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਤਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ध्रिगु तनु ध्रिगु धनु माइआ संगि राते ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏẖarig ṯan ḏẖarig ḏẖan mā▫i▫ā sang rāṯe. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Their bodies are cursed, and their wealth is cursed - they are imbued with Maya. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਿਉ ਬਿਗਾਰੀ ਕੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੀਜਹਿ ਦਾਮ ॥
जिउ बिगारी कै सिरि दीजहि दाम ॥
Ji▫o bigārī kai sir ḏījėh ḏām.
The servant carries the bags of money on his head,
|
ਓਇ ਖਸਮੈ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਉਨ ਦੂਖ ਸਹਾਮ ॥
ओइ खसमै कै ग्रिहि उन दूख सहाम ॥
O▫e kẖasmai kai garihi un ḏūkẖ sahām.
but it goes to his master's house, and he receives only pain.
|
ਜਿਉ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਹੋਇ ਬੈਸਤ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
जिउ सुपनै होइ बैसत राजा ॥
Ji▫o supnai ho▫e baisaṯ rājā.
The man sits as a king in his dreams,
|
ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪਸਾਰੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਾਰਥ ਕਾਜਾ ॥੨॥
नेत्र पसारै ता निरारथ काजा ॥२॥
Neṯar pasārai ṯā nirārath kājā. ||2||
but when he opens his eyes, he sees that it was all in vain. ||2||
|
ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਾ ਖੇਤ ਊਪਰਿ ਪਰਾਏ ॥
जिउ राखा खेत ऊपरि पराए ॥
Ji▫o rākẖā kẖeṯ ūpar parā▫e.
The watchman oversees the field of another,
|
ਖੇਤੁ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਏ ॥
खेतु खसम का राखा उठि जाए ॥
Kẖeṯ kẖasam kā rākẖā uṯẖ jā▫e.
but the field belongs to his master, while he must get up and depart.
|
ਉਸੁ ਖੇਤ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਰਾਖਾ ਕੜੈ ॥
उसु खेत कारणि राखा कड़ै ॥
Us kẖeṯ kāraṇ rākẖā kaṛai.
He works so hard, and suffers for that field,
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪਾਲੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪੜੈ ॥੩॥
तिस कै पालै कछू न पड़ै ॥३॥
Ŧis kai pālai kacẖẖū na paṛai. ||3||
but still, nothing comes into his hands. ||3||
|
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਰਾਜੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥
जिस का राजु तिसै का सुपना ॥
Jis kā rāj ṯisai kā supnā.
The dream is His, and the kingdom is His;
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਨੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਲਾਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥
जिनि माइआ दीनी तिनि लाई त्रिसना ॥
Jin mā▫i▫ā ḏīnī ṯin lā▫ī ṯarisnā.
He who has given the wealth of Maya, has infused the desire for it.
|
ਆਪਿ ਬਿਨਾਹੇ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
आपि बिनाहे आपि करे रासि ॥
Āp bināhe āp kare rās.
He Himself annihilates, and He Himself restores.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੮੦॥
नानक प्रभ आगै अरदासि ॥४॥११॥८०॥
Nānak parabẖ āgai arḏās. ||4||11||80||
Nanak offers this prayer to God. ||4||11||80||

ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੇਖੀ ॥
बहु रंग माइआ बहु बिधि पेखी ॥
Baho rang mā▫i▫ā baho biḏẖ pekẖī.
I have gazed upon the many forms of Maya, in so many ways.
|
ਕਲਮ ਕਾਗਦ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਲੇਖੀ ॥
कलम कागद सिआनप लेखी ॥
Kalam kāgaḏ si▫ānap lekẖī.
With pen and paper, I have written clever things.
|
ਮਹਰ ਮਲੂਕ ਹੋਇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਖਾਨ ॥
महर मलूक होइ देखिआ खान ॥
Mahar malūk ho▫e ḏekẖi▫ā kẖān.
I have seen what it is to be a chief, a king, and an emperor,
|
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨ ॥੧॥
ता ते नाही मनु त्रिपतान ॥१॥
Ŧā ṯe nāhī man ṯaripṯān. ||1||
but they do not satisfy the mind. ||1||
|
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਸੰਤ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ॥
सो सुखु मो कउ संत बतावहु ॥
So sukẖ mo ka▫o sanṯ baṯāvhu.
Show me that peace, O Saints,
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
त्रिसना बूझै मनु त्रिपतावहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧarisnā būjẖai man ṯaripṯāvho. ||1|| rahā▫o.
which will quench my thirst and satisfy my mind. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਸੁ ਪਵਨ ਹਸਤਿ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
असु पवन हसति असवारी ॥
As pavan hasaṯ asvārī.
You may have horses as fast as the wind, elephants to ride on,
|
ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਸੇਜ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
चोआ चंदनु सेज सुंदरि नारी ॥
Cẖo▫ā cẖanḏan sej sunḏar nārī.
sandalwood oil, and beautiful women in bed,
|
ਨਟ ਨਾਟਿਕ ਆਖਾਰੇ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
नट नाटिक आखारे गाइआ ॥
Nat nātik ākẖāre gā▫i▫ā.
actors in dramas, singing in theaters -
|
ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
ता महि मनि संतोखु न पाइआ ॥२॥
Ŧā mėh man sanṯokẖ na pā▫i▫ā. ||2||
but even with them, the mind does not find contentment. ||2||
|
ਤਖਤੁ ਸਭਾ ਮੰਡਨ ਦੋਲੀਚੇ ॥
तखतु सभा मंडन दोलीचे ॥
Ŧakẖaṯ sabẖā mandan ḏolīcẖe.
You may have a throne at the royal court, with beautiful decorations and soft carpets,
|
ਸਗਲ ਮੇਵੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਗੀਚੇ ॥
सगल मेवे सुंदर बागीचे ॥
Sagal meve sunḏar bāgīcẖe.
all sorts of luscious fruits and beautiful gardens,
|
ਆਖੇੜ ਬਿਰਤਿ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਲੀਲਾ ॥
आखेड़ बिरति राजन की लीला ॥
Ākẖeṛ biraṯ rājan kī līlā.
the excitement of the chase and princely pleasures -
|
ਮਨੁ ਨ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਹੀਲਾ ॥੩॥
मनु न सुहेला परपंचु हीला ॥३॥
Man na suhelā parpancẖ hīlā. ||3||
but still, the mind is not made happy by such illusory diversions. ||3||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
करि किरपा संतन सचु कहिआ ॥
Kar kirpā sanṯan sacẖ kahi▫ā.
In their kindness, the Saints have told me of the True One,
|
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਇਹੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਲਹਿਆ ॥
सरब सूख इहु आनंदु लहिआ ॥
Sarab sūkẖ ih ānanḏ lahi▫ā.
and so I have obtained all comforts and joy.
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
साधसंगि हरि कीरतनु गाईऐ ॥
Sāḏẖsang har kīrṯan gā▫ī▫ai.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੪॥
कहु नानक वडभागी पाईऐ ॥४॥
Kaho Nānak vadbẖāgī pā▫ī▫ai. ||4||
Says Nanak, through great good fortune, I have found this. ||4||
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
जा कै हरि धनु सोई सुहेला ॥
Jā kai har ḏẖan so▫ī suhelā.
One who obtains the wealth of the Lord becomes happy.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧੨॥੮੧॥
प्रभ किरपा ते साधसंगि मेला ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥१२॥८१॥
Parabẖ kirpā ṯe sāḏẖsang melā. ||1|| Rahā▫o ḏūjā. ||12||81||
By God's Grace, I have joined the Saadh Sangat. ||1||Second. Pause||12||81||
