नानक नामि रते निहकेवल निरबाणी ॥४॥१३॥३३॥
Naanak naam raṫé nihkéval nirbaaṇee. ||4||13||33||
O Nanak! Attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they are detached, in the perfect balance of Nirvana. ||4||13||33||

गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ३ ॥

Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥
सतिगुरु मिलै वडभागि संजोग ॥
Saṫgur milæ vadbʰaag sanjog.
Through great good fortune and high destiny, one meets the True Guru.

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥੧॥
हिरदै नामु नित हरि रस भोग ॥१॥
Hirḋæ naam niṫ har ras bʰog. ||1||
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is constantly within the heart, and one enjoys the sublime essence of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
गुरमुखि प्राणी नामु हरि धिआइ ॥
Gurmukʰ paraaṇee naam har ḋʰi▫aa▫é.
O mortal, become Gurmukh, and meditate on the Name of the Lord.

ਜਨਮੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जनमु जीति लाहा नामु पाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Janam jeeṫ laahaa naam paa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Be victorious in the game of life, and earn the profit of the Naam. ||1||Pause||
|
ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
गिआनु धिआनु गुर सबदु है मीठा ॥
Gi▫aan ḋʰi▫aan gur sabaḋ hæ meetʰaa.
Spiritual wisdom and meditation come to those unto whom the Word of the Guru’s Shabad is sweet.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਚਖਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੨॥
गुर किरपा ते किनै विरलै चखि डीठा ॥२॥
Gur kirpaa ṫé kinæ virlæ chakʰ deetʰaa. ||2||
By Guru’s Grace, a few have tasted, and seen it. ||2||
|
ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਚਾਰ ॥
करम कांड बहु करहि अचार ॥
Karam kaaⁿd baho karahi achaar.
They may perform all sorts of religious rituals and good actions,
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
बिनु नावै ध्रिगु ध्रिगु अहंकार ॥३॥
Bin naavæ ḋʰarig ḋʰarig ahaⁿkaar. ||3||
but without the Name, the egotistical ones are cursed and doomed. ||3||
|
ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਮਾਇਆ ਫਾਸ ॥
बंधनि बाधिओ माइआ फास ॥
Banḋʰan baaḋʰi▫o maa▫i▫aa faas.
They are bound and gagged, and hung by Maya’s noose;

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਛੂਟੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੩੪॥
जन नानक छूटै गुर परगास ॥४॥१४॥३४॥
Jan Naanak chʰootæ gur pargaas. ||4||14||34||
O servant Nanak! They shall be released only by Guru’s Grace. ||4||14||34||

ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ॥
महला ३ गउड़ी बैरागणि ॥

ਜੈਸੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਊਪਰਿਮੇਘੁਲਾ ਬਰਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਧਰਤੀ ਮਧੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
जैसी धरती ऊपरिमेघुला बरसतु है किआ धरती मधे पाणी नाही ॥
Jæsee ḋʰarṫee oopar mégʰulaa barsaṫ hæ ki▫aa ḋʰarṫee maḋʰé paaṇee naahee.
The clouds pour their rain down upon the earth, but isn’t there water within the earth as well?

ਜੈਸੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਮਧੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਗਾ ਵਰਸਤ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
जैसे धरती मधे पाणी परगासिआ बिनु पगा वरसत फिराही ॥१॥
Jæsé ḋʰarṫee maḋʰé paaṇee pargaasi▫aa bin pagaa varsaṫ firaa▫ee. ||1||
Water is contained within the earth; without feet, the clouds run around and let down their rain. ||1||
|
ਬਾਬਾ ਤੂੰ ਐਸੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਹੀ ॥
बाबा तूं ऐसे भरमु चुकाही ॥
Baabaa ṫooⁿ æsé bʰaram chukaahee.
O Baba, get rid of your doubts like this.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਕੋਈ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਤੈਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जो किछु करतु है सोई कोई है रे तैसे जाइ समाही ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jo kichʰ karaṫ hæ so▫ee ko▫ee hæ ré ṫæsé jaa▫é samaahee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
As you act, so shall you become, and so you shall go and mingle. ||1||Pause||

ਇਸਤਰੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਕਿਆ ਓਇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹੀ ॥
इसतरी पुरख होइ कै किआ ओइ करम कमाही ॥
Isṫaree purakʰ ho▫é kæ ki▫aa o▫é karam kamaahee.
As a woman or man, what can anyone do?

ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਸਦਾ ਹਹਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
नाना रूप सदा हहि तेरे तुझ ही माहि समाही ॥२॥
Naanaa roop saḋaa hėh ṫéré ṫujʰ hee maahi samaahee. ||2||
The many and various forms are always Yours, O Lord; they shall merge again into You. ||2||
|
ਇਤਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਭੂਲਿ ਪਰੇ ਸੇ ਜਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਭੂਲੇ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
इतने जनम भूलि परे से जा पाइआ ता भूले नाही ॥
Iṫné janam bʰool paré sé jaa paa▫i▫aa ṫaa bʰoolé naahee.
In countless incarnations, I went astray. Now that I have found You, I shall no longer wander.

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸੋਈ ਪਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੩॥
जा का कारजु सोई परु जाणै जे गुर कै सबदि समाही ॥३॥
Jaa kaa kaaraj so▫ee par jaaṇæ jé gur kæ sabaḋ samaahee. ||3||
It is His work; those who are absorbed in the Word of the Guru’s Shabad come to know it well. ||3||
|
ਤੇਰਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਹਹਿ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਹਾਹੀ ॥
तेरा सबदु तूंहै हहि आपे भरमु कहाही ॥
Ṫéraa sabaḋ ṫooⁿhæ hėh aapé bʰaram kahaahee.
The Shabad is Yours; You are Yourself. Where is there any doubt?

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੁ ਤਤ ਸਿਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਹੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੫॥੩੫॥
नानक ततु तत सिउ मिलिआ पुनरपि जनमि न आही ॥४॥१॥१५॥३५॥
Naanak ṫaṫ ṫaṫ si▫o mili▫aa punrap janam na aahee. ||4||1||15||35||
O Nanak! One whose essence is merged with the Lord’s essence does not have to enter the cycle of reincarnation again. ||4||1||15||35||

गउड़ी बैरागणि महला ३ ॥

ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਕਾਲੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਬਾਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
सभु जगु कालै वसि है बाधा दूजै भाइ ॥
Sabʰ jag kaalæ vas hæ baaḋʰaa ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é.
The whole world is under the power of Death, bound by the love of duality.

ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
हउमै करम कमावदे मनमुखि मिलै सजाइ ॥१॥
Ha▫umæ karam kamaavḋé manmukʰ milæ sajaa▫é. ||1||
The self-willed Manmukhs do their deeds in ego; they receive their just rewards. ||1||
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
मेरे मन गुर चरणी चितु लाइ ॥
Méré man gur charṇee chiṫ laa▫é.
O my mind! Focus your consciousness on the Guru’s Feet.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਲੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरमुखि नामु निधानु लै दरगह लए छडाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmukʰ naam niḋʰaan læ ḋargėh la▫é chʰadaa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
As Gurmukh, you shall be awarded the treasure of the Naam. In the Court of the Lord, you shall be saved. ||1||Pause||

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਭਰਮਦੇ ਮਨਹਠਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
लख चउरासीह भरमदे मनहठि आवै जाइ ॥
Lakʰ cha▫oraaseeh bʰaramḋé manhatʰ aavæ jaa▫é.
Through 8.4 million incarnations, people wander lost; in stubborn-mindedness, they come and go.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਚੀਨਿਓ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
गुर का सबदु न चीनिओ फिरि फिरि जोनी पाइ ॥२॥
Gur kaa sabaḋ na cheeni▫o fir fir jonee paa▫é. ||2||
They do not realize the Word of the Guru’s Shabad; they are reincarnated over and over again. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
गुरमुखि आपु पछाणिआ हरि नामु वसिआ मनि आइ ॥
Gurmukʰ aap pachʰaaṇi▫aa har naam vasi▫aa man aa▫é.
The Gurmukh understands his own self. The Lord’s Name comes to dwell within the mind.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
अनदिनु भगती रतिआ हरि नामे सुखि समाइ ॥३॥
An▫ḋin bʰagṫee raṫi▫aa har naamé sukʰ samaa▫é. ||3||
Imbued with devotion to the Lord’s Name, night and day, he merges in peace. ||3||
|
ਮਨੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
मनु सबदि मरै परतीति होइ हउमै तजे विकार ॥
Man sabaḋ maræ parṫeeṫ ho▫é ha▫umæ ṫajé vikaar.
When one’s mind dies in the Shabad, one radiates faith and confidence, shedding egotism and corruption.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੬॥੩੬॥
जन नानक करमी पाईअनि हरि नामा भगति भंडार ॥४॥२॥१६॥३६॥
Jan Naanak karmee paa▫ee▫an har naamaa bʰagaṫ bʰandaar. ||4||2||16||36||
O servant Nanak! Through the karma of good actions, the treasure of devotional worship and the Name of the Lord are attained. ||4||2||16||36||

ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
पेईअड़ै दिन चारि है हरि हरि लिखि पाइआ ॥
Pé▫ee▫aṛæ ḋin chaar hæ har har likʰ paa▫i▫aa.
The Lord, Har, Har, has ordained that the soul is to stay in her parents’ home for only a few short days.
|
ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
सोभावंती नारि है गुरमुखि गुण गाइआ ॥
Sobʰaavanṫee naar hæ gurmukʰ guṇ gaa▫i▫aa.
Glorious is that soul-bride, who as Gurmukh, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਮਲੈ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਵਾਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
पेवकड़ै गुण संमलै साहुरै वासु पाइआ ॥
Pévkaṛæ guṇ sammlæ saahuræ vaas paa▫i▫aa.
She who cultivates virtue in her parents’ home, shall obtain a home at her in-laws.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
गुरमुखि सहजि समाणीआ हरि हरि मनि भाइआ ॥१॥
Gurmukʰ sahj samaaṇee▫aa har har man bʰaa▫i▫aa. ||1||
The Gurmukhs are intuitively absorbed into the Lord. The Lord is pleasing to their minds. ||1||
|
ਸਸੁਰੈ ਪੇਈਐ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਸੈ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
ससुरै पेईऐ पिरु वसै कहु कितु बिधि पाईऐ ॥
Sasuræ pé▫ee▫æ pir vasæ kaho kiṫ biḋʰ paa▫ee▫æ.
Our Husband Lord dwells in this world, and in the world beyond. Tell me, how can He be found?

ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
आपि निरंजनु अलखु है आपे मेलाईऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Aap niranjan alakʰ hæ aapé mélaa▫ee▫æ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Immaculate Lord Himself is unseen. He unites us with Himself. ||1||Pause||
