ਗੁਰੁ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਸਦਾ ਜਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਹਰੈ ॥
Gur ḏarī▫ā▫o saḏā jal nirmal mili▫ā ḏurmaṯ mail harai.
The Guru is the River, from which the Pure Water is obtained forever; it washes away the filth and pollution of evil-mindedness.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਐ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤਹੁ ਦੇਵ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥
Saṯgur pā▫i▫ai pūrā nāvaṇ pasū pareṯahu ḏev karai. ||2||
Finding the True Guru, the perfect cleansing bath is obtained, which transforms even beasts and ghosts into gods. ||2||
|
ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਲ ਹੀਅਲੁ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
Raṯā sacẖ nām ṯal hī▫al so gur parmal kahī▫ai.
He is said to be the Guru, with the scent of sandalwood, who is imbued with the True Name to the bottom of His Heart.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਵਾਸੁ ਬਨਾਸਪਤਿ ਸਉਰੈ ਤਾਸੁ ਚਰਣ ਲਿਵ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੩॥
Jā kī vās banāspaṯ sa▫urai ṯās cẖaraṇ liv rahī▫ai. ||3||
By His Fragrance, the world of vegetation is perfumed. Lovingly focus yourself on His Feet. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਉਪਜਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
Gurmukẖ jī▫a parān upjahi gurmukẖ siv gẖar jā▫ī▫ai.
The life of the soul wells up for the Gurmukh; the Gurmukh goes to the House of God.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਜ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੬॥
Gurmukẖ Nānak sacẖ samā▫ī▫ai gurmukẖ nij paḏ pā▫ī▫ai. ||4||6||
The Gurmukh, O Nanak, merges in the True One; the Gurmukh attains the exalted state of the self. ||4||6||

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਵੀਚਾਰੈ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Gur parsādī viḏi▫ā vīcẖārai paṛ paṛ pāvai mān.
By Guru's Grace, contemplate spiritual knowledge; read it and study it, and you shall be honored.

ਆਪਾ ਮਧੇ ਆਪੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
Āpā maḏẖe āp pargāsi▫ā pā▫i▫ā amriṯ nām. ||1||
Within the self, the self is revealed, when one is blessed with the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਜਮਾਨੁ ॥
Karṯā ṯū merā jajmān.
O Creator Lord, You alone are my Benefactor.
|
ਇਕ ਦਖਿਣਾ ਹਉ ਤੈ ਪਹਿ ਮਾਗਉ ਦੇਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ik ḏakẖiṇā ha▫o ṯai pėh māga▫o ḏėh āpṇā nām. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I beg for only one blessing from You: please bless me with Your Name. ||1||Pause||

ਪੰਚ ਤਸਕਰ ਧਾਵਤ ਰਾਖੇ ਚੂਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
Pancẖ ṯaskar ḏẖāvaṯ rākẖe cẖūkā man abẖimān.
The five wandering thieves are captured and held, and the egotistical pride of the mind is subdued.

ਦਿਸਟਿ ਬਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਗੀ ਐਸਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੨॥
Ḏisat bikārī ḏurmaṯ bẖāgī aisā barahm gi▫ān. ||2||
Visions of corruption, vice and evil-mindedness run away. Such is the spiritual wisdom of God. ||2||
|
ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਚਾਵਲ ਦਇਆ ਕਣਕ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਪਾਤੀ ਧਾਨੁ ॥
Jaṯ saṯ cẖāval ḏa▫i▫ā kaṇak kar parāpaṯ pāṯī ḏẖān.
Please bless me with the rice of truth and self-restraint, the wheat of compassion, and the leaf-plate of meditation.

ਦੂਧੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਘੀਉ ਕਰਿ ਐਸਾ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
Ḏūḏẖ karam sanṯokẖ gẖī▫o kar aisā māʼnga▫o ḏān. ||3||
Bless me with the milk of good karma, and the clarified butter, the ghee, of compassion. Such are the gifts I beg of You, Lord. ||3||
|
ਖਿਮਾ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਊ ਲਵੇਰੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਛਰਾ ਖੀਰੁ ਪੀਐ ॥
Kẖimā ḏẖīraj kar ga▫ū laverī sėhje bacẖẖrā kẖīr pī▫ai.
Let forgiveness and patience be my milk-cows, and let the calf of my mind intuitively drink in this milk.

ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਰਮ ਕਾ ਕਪੜਾ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਵਤੁ ਰਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥
Sifaṯ saram kā kapṛā māʼnga▫o har guṇ Nānak ravaṯ rahai. ||4||7||
I beg for the clothes of modesty and the Lord's Praise; Nanak chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||7||

ਆਵਤੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਜਾਵਤੁ ਕਿਉ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Āvaṯ kinai na rākẖi▫ā jāvaṯ ki▫o rākẖi▫ā jā▫e.
No one can hold anyone back from coming; how could anyone hold anyone back from going?

ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਸੋਈ ਪਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
Jis ṯe ho▫ā so▫ī par jāṇai jāʼn us hī māhi samā▫e. ||1||
He alone thoroughly understands this, from whom all beings come; all are merged and immersed in Him. ||1||
|
ਤੂਹੈ ਹੈ ਵਾਹੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
Ŧūhai hai vāhu ṯerī rajā▫e.
Waaho! - You are Great, and Wondrous is Your Will.
|
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਪਰੁ ਹੋਇਬਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jo kicẖẖ karahi so▫ī par ho▫ibā avar na karṇā jā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Whatever You do, surely comes to pass. Nothing else can happen. ||1||Pause||

ਜੈਸੇ ਹਰਹਟ ਕੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਟਿੰਡ ਲਗਤ ਹੈ ਇਕ ਸਖਨੀ ਹੋਰ ਫੇਰ ਭਰੀਅਤ ਹੈ ॥
Jaise harhat kī mālā tind lagaṯ hai ik sakẖnī hor fer bẖarī▫aṯ hai.
The buckets on the chain of the Persian wheel rotate; one empties out to fill another.

ਤੈਸੋ ਹੀ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਜਿਉ ਉਸ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
Ŧaiso hī ih kẖel kẖasam kā ji▫o us kī vadi▫ā▫ī. ||2||
This is just like the Play of our Lord and Master; such is His Glorious Greatness. ||2||
|
ਸੁਰਤੀ ਕੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਉਲਟੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੀ ॥
Surṯī kai mārag cẖal kai ultī naḏar pargāsī.
Following the path of intuitive awareness, one turns away from the world, and one's vision is enlightened.

ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਉਨੁ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਕਉਨੁ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥੩॥
Man vīcẖār ḏekẖ barahm gi▫ānī ka▫un girhī ka▫un uḏāsī. ||3||
Contemplate this in your mind, and see, O spiritual teacher. Who is the householder, and who is the renunciate? ||3||
|
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਸਉਪਿ ਕੈ ਏਹੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
Jis kī āsā ṯis hī sa▫up kai ehu rahi▫ā nirbāṇ.
Hope comes from the Lord; surrendering to Him, we remain in the state of nirvaanaa.

ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੮॥
Jis ṯe ho▫ā so▫ī kar māni▫ā Nānak girhī uḏāsī so parvāṇ. ||4||8||
We come from Him; surrendering to Him, O Nanak, one is approved as a householder, and a renunciate. ||4||8||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

ਦਿਸਟਿ ਬਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬਾਂਧੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
Ḏisat bikārī banḏẖan bāʼnḏẖai ha▫o ṯis kai bal jā▫ī.
I am a sacrifice to that one who binds in bondage his evil and corrupted gaze.

ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਭੂਲਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
Pāp punn kī sār na jāṇai bẖūlā firai ajā▫ī. ||1||
One who does not know the difference between vice and virtue wanders around uselessly. ||1||
|
ਬੋਲਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥
Bolhu sacẖ nām karṯār.
Speak the True Name of the Creator Lord.
|
ਫੁਨਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਣ ਵਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Fun bahuṛ na āvaṇ vār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Then, you shall never again have to come into this world. ||1||Pause||
|
ਊਚਾ ਤੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਨੀਚੁ ਕਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਨੀਚ ਕਰੈ ਸੁਲਤਾਨੁ ॥
Ūcẖā ṯe fun nīcẖ karaṯ hai nīcẖ karai sulṯān.
The Creator transforms the high into the low, and makes the lowly into kings.
|
ਜਿਨੀ ਜਾਣੁ ਸੁਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਗਿ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
Jinī jāṇ sujāṇi▫ā jag ṯe pūre parvāṇ. ||2||
Those who know the All-knowing Lord are approved and certified as perfect in this world. ||2||
|
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਸਮਝਾਵਣ ਜਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਭੂਲਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
Ŧā ka▫o samjẖāvaṇ jā▫ī▫ai je ko bẖūlā ho▫ī.
If anyone is mistaken and fooled, you should go to instruct him.
