ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਅਉਰੁ ਨ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੮॥੧॥
राम नाम तुलि अउरु न उपमा जन नानक क्रिपा करीजै ॥८॥१॥
Rām nām ṯul a▫or na upmā jan Nānak kirpā karījai. ||8||1||
Nothing else can equal the Glory of the Lord's Name; please bless servant Nanak with Your Grace. ||8||1||

ਰਾਮ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਰਸੁ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
राम गुरु पारसु परसु करीजै ॥
Rām gur pāras paras karījai.
O Lord, please bless me with the Touch of the Guru, the Philosopher's Stone.

ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੀ ਮਨੂਰ ਅਤਿ ਫੀਕੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हम निरगुणी मनूर अति फीके मिलि सतिगुर पारसु कीजै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ham nirguṇī manūr aṯ fīke mil saṯgur pāras kījai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I was unworthy, utterly useless, rusty slag; meeting with the True Guru, I was transformed by the Philosopher's Stone. ||1||Pause||

ਸੁਰਗ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਸਭਿ ਬਾਂਛਹਿ ਨਿਤਿ ਆਸਾ ਆਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
सुरग मुकति बैकुंठ सभि बांछहि निति आसा आस करीजै ॥
Surag mukaṯ baikunṯẖ sabẖ bāʼncẖẖėh niṯ āsā ās karījai.
Everyone longs for paradise, liberation and heaven; all place their hopes in them.

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਮਾਂਗਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਜੈ ॥੧॥
हरि दरसन के जन मुकति न मांगहि मिलि दरसन त्रिपति मनु धीजै ॥१॥
Har ḏarsan ke jan mukaṯ na māʼngėh mil ḏarsan ṯaripaṯ man ḏẖījai. ||1||
The humble long for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; they do not ask for liberation. Their minds are satisfied and comforted by His Darshan. ||1||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਲੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਾਲਖ ਦਾਗ ਲਗੀਜੈ ॥
माइआ मोहु सबलु है भारी मोहु कालख दाग लगीजै ॥
Mā▫i▫ā moh sabal hai bẖārī moh kālakẖ ḏāg lagījai.
Emotional attachment to Maya is very powerful; this attachment is a black stain which sticks.

ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਅਲਿਪਤ ਹੈ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਜਿਉ ਮੁਰਗਾਈ ਪੰਕੁ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
मेरे ठाकुर के जन अलिपत है मुकते जिउ मुरगाई पंकु न भीजै ॥२॥
Mere ṯẖākur ke jan alipaṯ hai mukṯe ji▫o murgā▫ī pank na bẖījai. ||2||
The humble servants of my Lord and Master are unattached and liberated. They are like ducks, whose feathers do not get wet. ||2||

ਚੰਦਨ ਵਾਸੁ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਵੇੜੀ ਕਿਵ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
चंदन वासु भुइअंगम वेड़ी किव मिलीऐ चंदनु लीजै ॥
Cẖanḏan vās bẖu▫i▫angam veṛī kiv milī▫ai cẖanḏan lījai.
The fragrant sandalwood tree is encircled by snakes; how can anyone get to the sandalwood?

ਕਾਢਿ ਖੜਗੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਛੇਦਿ ਛੇਦਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੩॥
काढि खड़गु गुर गिआनु करारा बिखु छेदि छेदि रसु पीजै ॥३॥
Kādẖ kẖaṛag gur gi▫ān karārā bikẖ cẖẖeḏ cẖẖeḏ ras pījai. ||3||
Drawing out the Mighty Sword of the Guru's Spiritual Wisdom, I slaughter and kill the poisonous snakes, and drink in the Sweet Nectar. ||3||

ਆਨਿ ਆਨਿ ਸਮਧਾ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਨੀ ਪਲੁ ਬੈਸੰਤਰ ਭਸਮ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
आनि आनि समधा बहु कीनी पलु बैसंतर भसम करीजै ॥
Ān ān samḏẖā baho kīnī pal baisanṯar bẖasam karījai.
You may gather wood and stack it in a pile, but in an instant, fire reduces it to ashes.

ਮਹਾ ਉਗ੍ਰ ਪਾਪ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਕੀਨੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਲੂਕੀ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥
महा उग्र पाप साकत नर कीने मिलि साधू लूकी दीजै ॥४॥
Mahā ugar pāp sākaṯ nar kīne mil sāḏẖū lūkī ḏījai. ||4||
The faithless cynic gathers the most horrendous sins, but meeting with the Holy Saint, they are placed in the fire. ||4||
|
ਸਾਧੂ ਸਾਧ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥
साधू साध साध जन नीके जिन अंतरि नामु धरीजै ॥
Sāḏẖū sāḏẖ sāḏẖ jan nīke jin anṯar nām ḏẖarījai.
The Holy, Saintly devotees are sublime and exalted. They enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, deep within.

ਪਰਸ ਨਿਪਰਸੁ ਭਏ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ਦਿਖੀਜੈ ॥੫॥
परस निपरसु भए साधू जन जनु हरि भगवानु दिखीजै ॥५॥
Paras nipras bẖa▫e sāḏẖū jan jan har bẖagvān ḏikẖījai. ||5||
By the touch of the Holy and the humble servants of the Lord, the Lord God is seen. ||5||

ਸਾਕਤ ਸੂਤੁ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਰਝੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਤਾਨੁ ਤਨੀਜੈ ॥
साकत सूतु बहु गुरझी भरिआ किउ करि तानु तनीजै ॥
Sākaṯ sūṯ baho gurjẖī bẖari▫ā ki▫o kar ṯān ṯanījai.
The thread of the faithless cynic is totally knotted and tangled; how can anything be woven with it?

ਤੰਤੁ ਸੂਤੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੬॥
तंतु सूतु किछु निकसै नाही साकत संगु न कीजै ॥६॥
Ŧanṯ sūṯ kicẖẖ niksai nāhī sākaṯ sang na kījai. ||6||
This thread cannot be woven into yarn; do not associate with those faithless cynics. ||6||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਨੀਕੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ॥
सतिगुर साधसंगति है नीकी मिलि संगति रामु रवीजै ॥
Saṯgur sāḏẖsangaṯ hai nīkī mil sangaṯ rām ravījai.
The True Guru and the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, are exalted and sublime. Joining the Congregation, meditate on the Lord.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਤਨ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਮਾਣਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੭॥
अंतरि रतन जवेहर माणक गुर किरपा ते लीजै ॥७॥
Anṯar raṯan javehar māṇak gur kirpā ṯe lījai. ||7||
The gems, jewels and precious stones are deep within; by Guru's Grace, they are found. ||7||
|
ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਵਡਾ ਵਡਾ ਹੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਹ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ ॥
मेरा ठाकुरु वडा वडा है सुआमी हम किउ करि मिलह मिलीजै ॥
Merā ṯẖākur vadā vadā hai su▫āmī ham ki▫o kar milah milījai.
My Lord and Master is Glorious and Great. How can I be united in His Union?

ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੮॥੨॥
नानक मेलि मिलाए गुरु पूरा जन कउ पूरनु दीजै ॥८॥२॥
Nānak mel milā▫e gur pūrā jan ka▫o pūran ḏījai. ||8||2||
O Nanak, the Perfect Guru unites His humble servant in His Union, and blesses him with perfection. ||8||2||

ਰਾਮਾ ਰਮ ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ॥
रामा रम रामो रामु रवीजै ॥
Rāmā ram rāmo rām ravījai.
Chant the Name of the Lord, the Lord, the All-pervading Lord.

ਸਾਧੂ ਸਾਧ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
साधू साध साध जन नीके मिलि साधू हरि रंगु कीजै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sāḏẖū sāḏẖ sāḏẖ jan nīke mil sāḏẖū har rang kījai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Holy, the humble and Holy, are noble and sublime. Meeting with the Holy, I joyfully love the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਹੈ ਜੇਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਡੋਲਤ ਡੋਲ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
जीअ जंत सभु जगु है जेता मनु डोलत डोल करीजै ॥
Jī▫a janṯ sabẖ jag hai jeṯā man dolaṯ dol karījai.
The minds of all the beings and creatures of the world waver unsteadily.

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਧੁ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਥੰਮਨ ਕਉ ਥੰਮੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੧॥
क्रिपा क्रिपा करि साधु मिलावहु जगु थमन कउ थमु दीजै ॥१॥
Kirpā kirpā kar sāḏẖ milāvhu jag thamman ka▫o thamm ḏījai. ||1||
Please take pity on them, be merciful to them, and unite them with the Holy; establish this support to support the world. ||1||
|
ਬਸੁਧਾ ਤਲੈ ਤਲੈ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਨ ਰੁਲੀਜੈ ॥
बसुधा तलै तलै सभ ऊपरि मिलि साधू चरन रुलीजै ॥
Basuḏẖā ṯalai ṯalai sabẖ ūpar mil sāḏẖū cẖaran rulījai.
The earth is beneath us, and yet its dust falls down on all; let yourself be covered by the dust of the feet of the Holy.

ਅਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਅਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਚਰਨ ਤਲ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
अति ऊतम अति ऊतम होवहु सभ सिसटि चरन तल दीजै ॥२॥
Aṯ ūṯam aṯ ūṯam hovhu sabẖ sisat cẖaran ṯal ḏījai. ||2||
You shall be utterly exalted, the most noble and sublime of all; the whole world will place itself at your feet. ||2||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਭਲੀ ਸਿਵ ਨੀਕੀ ਆਨਿ ਪਾਨੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਭਰੀਜੈ ॥
गुरमुखि जोति भली सिव नीकी आनि पानी सकति भरीजै ॥
Gurmukẖ joṯ bẖalī siv nīkī ān pānī sakaṯ bẖarījai.
The Gurmukhs are blessed with the Divine Light of the Lord; Maya comes to serve them.

ਮੈਨਦੰਤ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸਾਰੁ ਚਬਿ ਚਬਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੩॥
मैनदंत निकसे गुर बचनी सारु चबि चबि हरि रसु पीजै ॥३॥
Mainḏanṯ nikse gur bacẖnī sār cẖab cẖab har ras pījai. ||3||
Through the Word of the Guru's Teachings, they bite with teeth of wax and chew iron, drinking in the Sublime Essence of the Lord. ||3||
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ ॥
राम नाम अनुग्रहु बहु कीआ गुर साधू पुरख मिलीजै ॥
Rām nām anūgrahu baho kī▫ā gur sāḏẖū purakẖ milījai.
The Lord has shown great mercy, and bestowed His Name; I have met with the Holy Guru, the Primal Being.

ਗੁਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਸਥੀਰਨ ਕੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਨ ਜਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥
गुन राम नाम बिसथीरन कीए हरि सगल भवन जसु दीजै ॥४॥
Gun rām nām bisthīran kī▫e har sagal bẖavan jas ḏījai. ||4||
The Glorious Praises of the Lord's Name have spread out everywhere; the Lord bestows fame all over the world. ||4||
|
ਸਾਧੂ ਸਾਧ ਸਾਧ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਜੈ ॥
साधू साध साध मनि प्रीतम बिनु देखे रहि न सकीजै ॥
Sāḏẖū sāḏẖ sāḏẖ man parīṯam bin ḏekẖe rėh na sakījai.
The Beloved Lord is within the minds of the Holy, the Holy Saadhus; without seeing Him, they cannot survive.

ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਮੀਨ ਜਲੰ ਜਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਫੂਟਿ ਮਰੀਜੈ ॥੫॥
जिउ जल मीन जलं जल प्रीति है खिनु जल बिनु फूटि मरीजै ॥५॥
Ji▫o jal mīn jalaʼn jal parīṯ hai kẖin jal bin fūt marījai. ||5||
The fish in the water loves only the water. Without water, it bursts and dies in an instant. ||5||
