ਆਪੇ ਊਚਾ ਊਚੋ ਹੋਈ ॥
आपे ऊचा ऊचो होई ॥
Aapé oochaa oocho ho▫ee.
He Himself is the Highest of the High.

ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਿਖਾਲੇ ਸੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
जिसु आपि विखाले सु वेखै कोई ॥
Jis aap vikʰaalé so vékʰæ ko▫ee.
How rare are those who behold Him. He causes Himself to be seen.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਖਾਲਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੬॥੨੭॥
नानक नामु वसै घट अंतरि आपे वेखि विखालणिआ ॥८॥२६॥२७॥
Naanak naam vasæ gʰat anṫar aapé vékʰ vikʰaalaṇi▫aa. ||8||26||27||
O Nanak! The Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the hearts of those who see the Lord themselves, and inspire others to see Him as well. ||8||26||27||

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ॥
मेरा प्रभु भरपूरि रहिआ सभ थाई ॥
Méraa parabʰ bʰarpoor rahi▫aa sabʰ ṫʰaa▫ee.
My God is pervading and permeating all places.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
गुर परसादी घर ही महि पाई ॥
Gur parsaadee gʰar hee mėh paa▫ee.
By Guru’s Grace, I have found Him within the home of my own heart.

ਸਦਾ ਸਰੇਵੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
सदा सरेवी इक मनि धिआई गुरमुखि सचि समावणिआ ॥१॥
Saḋaa sarévee ik man ḋʰi▫aa▫ee gurmukʰ sach samaavaṇi▫aa. ||1||
I serve Him constantly, and I meditate on Him single-mindedly. As Gurmukh, I am absorbed in the True One. ||1||

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
हउ वारी जीउ वारी जगजीवनु मंनि वसावणिआ ॥
Ha▫o vaaree jee▫o vaaree jagjeevan man vasaavaṇi▫aa.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Lord, the Life of the World, within their minds.

ਹਰਿ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि जगजीवनु निरभउ दाता गुरमति सहजि समावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har jagjeevan nirbʰa▫o ḋaaṫaa gurmaṫ sahj samaavaṇi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Through the Guru’s Teachings, I merge with intuitive ease into the Lord, the Life of the World, the Fearless One, the Great Giver. ||1||Pause||
|
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਧਉਲੁ ਪਾਤਾਲਾ ॥
घर महि धरती धउलु पाताला ॥
Gʰar mėh ḋʰarṫee ḋʰa▫ul paaṫaalaa.
Within the home of the self is the earth, its support and the nether regions of the underworld.
|
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
घर ही महि प्रीतमु सदा है बाला ॥
Gʰar hee mėh pareeṫam saḋaa hæ baalaa.
Within the home of the self is the Eternally Young Beloved.
|
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
सदा अनंदि रहै सुखदाता गुरमति सहजि समावणिआ ॥२॥
Saḋaa anand rahæ sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa gurmaṫ sahj samaavaṇi▫aa. ||2||
The Giver of peace is eternally blissful. Through the Guru’s Teachings, we are absorbed in intuitive peace. ||2||
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
काइआ अंदरि हउमै मेरा ॥
Kaa▫i▫aa anḋar ha▫umæ méraa.
When the body is filled with ego and selfishness,
|
ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥
जंमण मरणु न चूकै फेरा ॥
Jamaṇ maraṇ na chookæ féraa.
the cycle of birth and death does not end.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
गुरमुखि होवै सु हउमै मारे सचो सचु धिआवणिआ ॥३॥
Gurmukʰ hovæ so ha▫umæ maaré sacho sach ḋʰi▫aavaṇi▫aa. ||3||
One who becomes Gurmukh subdues egotism, and meditates on the Truest of the True. ||3||
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥
काइआ अंदरि पापु पुंनु दुइ भाई ॥
Kaa▫i▫aa anḋar paap punn ḋu▫é bʰaa▫ee.
Within this body are the two brothers, sin and virtue.

ਦੁਹੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
दुही मिलि कै स्रिसटि उपाई ॥
Ḋuhee mil kæ sarisat upaa▫ee.
When the two joined together, the Universe was produced.
|
ਦੋਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
दोवै मारि जाइ इकतु घरि आवै गुरमति सहजि समावणिआ ॥४॥
Ḋovæ maar jaa▫é ikaṫ gʰar aavæ gurmaṫ sahj samaavaṇi▫aa. ||4||
Subduing both, and entering into the Home of the One, through the Guru’s Teachings, we are absorbed in intuitive peace. ||4||
|
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਅਨੇਰਾ ॥
घर ही माहि दूजै भाइ अनेरा ॥
Gʰar hee maahi ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é anéraa.
Within the home of the self is the darkness of the love of duality.
|
ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਛੋਡੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
चानणु होवै छोडै हउमै मेरा ॥
Chaanaṇ hovæ chʰodæ ha▫umæ méraa.
When the Divine Light dawns, ego and selfishness are dispelled.
|
ਪਰਗਟੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
परगटु सबदु है सुखदाता अनदिनु नामु धिआवणिआ ॥५॥
Pargat sabaḋ hæ sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa an▫ḋin naam ḋʰi▫aavaṇi▫aa. ||5||
The Giver of peace is revealed through the Shabad, meditating upon the Naam, night and day. ||5||
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
अंतरि जोति परगटु पासारा ॥
Anṫar joṫ pargat paasaaraa.
Deep within the self is the Light of God; It radiates throughout the expanse of His creation.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
गुर साखी मिटिआ अंधिआरा ॥
Gur saakʰee miti▫aa anḋʰi▫aaraa.
Through the Guru’s Teachings, the darkness of spiritual ignorance is dispelled.
|
ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਾਸਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
कमलु बिगासि सदा सुखु पाइआ जोती जोति मिलावणिआ ॥६॥
Kamal bigaas saḋaa sukʰ paa▫i▫aa joṫee joṫ milaavaṇi▫aa. ||6||
The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and eternal peace is obtained, as one’s light merges into the Light. ||6||
|
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲ ਰਤਨੀ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
अंदरि महल रतनी भरे भंडारा ॥
Anḋar mahal raṫnee bʰaré bʰandaaraa.
Within the mansion is the treasure house, overflowing with jewels.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
गुरमुखि पाए नामु अपारा ॥
Gurmukʰ paa▫é naam apaaraa.
The Gurmukh obtains the Infinite Naam, the Name of the Lord.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜੇ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
गुरमुखि वणजे सदा वापारी लाहा नामु सद पावणिआ ॥७॥
Gurmukʰ vaṇjé saḋaa vaapaaree laahaa naam saḋ paavṇi▫aa. ||7||
The Gurmukh, the trader, always purchases the merchandise of the Naam, and always reaps profits. ||7||
|
ਆਪੇ ਵਥੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
आपे वथु राखै आपे देइ ॥
Aapé vaṫʰ raakʰæ aapé ḋé▫é.
The Lord Himself keeps this merchandise in stock, and He Himself distributes it.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜਹਿ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥
गुरमुखि वणजहि केई केइ ॥
Gurmukʰ vaṇjahi ké▫ee ké▫é.
Rare is that Gurmukh who trades in this.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੭॥੨੮॥
नानक जिसु नदरि करे सो पाए करि किरपा मंनि वसावणिआ ॥८॥२७॥२८॥
Naanak jis naḋar karé so paa▫é kar kirpaa man vasaavaṇi▫aa. ||8||27||28||
O Nanak! Those upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, obtain it. Through His Mercy, it is enshrined in the mind. ||8||27||28||

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
हरि आपे मेले सेव कराए ॥
Har aapé mélé sév karaa▫é.
The Lord Himself leads us to merge with Him and serve Him.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਜਾਏ ॥
गुर कै सबदि भाउ दूजा जाए ॥
Gur kæ sabaḋ bʰaa▫o ḋoojaa jaa▫é.
Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the love of duality is eradicated.
|
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
हरि निरमलु सदा गुणदाता हरि गुण महि आपि समावणिआ ॥१॥
Har nirmal saḋaa guṇḋaaṫaa har guṇ mėh aap samaavaṇi▫aa. ||1||
The Immaculate Lord is the Bestower of eternal virtue. The Lord Himself leads us to merge in His Virtuous Goodness. ||1||
|
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
हउ वारी जीउ वारी सचु सचा हिरदै वसावणिआ ॥
Ha▫o vaaree jee▫o vaaree sach sachaa hirḋæ vasaavaṇi▫aa.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Truest of the True within their hearts.

ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सचा नामु सदा है निरमलु गुर सबदी मंनि वसावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sachaa naam saḋaa hæ nirmal gur sabḋee man vasaavaṇi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The True Name is eternally pure and immaculate. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, it is enshrined within the mind. ||1||Pause||
|
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
आपे गुरु दाता करमि बिधाता ॥
Aapé gur ḋaaṫaa karam biḋʰaaṫaa.
The Guru Himself is the Giver, the Architect of Destiny.
|
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
सेवक सेवहि गुरमुखि हरि जाता ॥
Sévak sévėh gurmukʰ har jaaṫaa.
The Gurmukh, the humble servant who serves the Lord, comes to know Him.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
अमृत नामि सदा जन सोहहि गुरमति हरि रसु पावणिआ ॥२॥
Amriṫ naam saḋaa jan sohėh gurmaṫ har ras paavṇi▫aa. ||2||
Those humble beings look beautiful forever in the Ambrosial Naam. Through the Guru’s Teachings, they receive the sublime essence of the Lord. ||2||
|
ਇਸੁ ਗੁਫਾ ਮਹਿ ਇਕੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥
इसु गुफा महि इकु थानु सुहाइआ ॥
Is gufaa mėh ik ṫʰaan suhaa▫i▫aa.
Within the cave of this body, there is one beautiful place.
|
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
पूरै गुरि हउमै भरमु चुकाइआ ॥
Pooræ gur ha▫umæ bʰaram chukaa▫i▫aa.
Through the Perfect Guru, ego and doubt are dispelled.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
अनदिनु नामु सलाहनि रंगि राते गुर किरपा ते पावणिआ ॥३॥
An▫ḋin naam salaahan rang raaṫé gur kirpaa ṫé paavṇi▫aa. ||3||
Night and day, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; imbued with the Lord’s Love, by Guru’s Grace, you shall find Him. ||3||
|
