ਕਾਹੇ ਕਲਰਾ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੁ ॥
काहे कलरा सिंचहु जनमु गवावहु ॥
Kāhe kalrā sincẖahu janam gavāvahu.
Why do you irrigate the barren, alkaline soil? You are wasting your life away!

ਕਾਚੀ ਢਹਗਿ ਦਿਵਾਲ ਕਾਹੇ ਗਚੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
काची ढहगि दिवाल काहे गचु लावहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kācẖī dẖahag ḏivāl kāhe gacẖ lāvhu. ||1|| rahā▫o.
This wall of mud is crumbling. Why bother to patch it with plaster? ||1||Pause||

ਕਰ ਹਰਿਹਟ ਮਾਲ ਟਿੰਡ ਪਰੋਵਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਜੋਵਹੁ ॥
कर हरिहट माल टिंड परोवहु तिसु भीतरि मनु जोवहु ॥
Kar harihat māl tind parovahu ṯis bẖīṯar man jovhu.
Let your hands be the buckets, strung on the chain, and yoke the mind as the ox to pull it; draw the water up from the well.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਭਰਹੁ ਕਿਆਰੇ ਤਉ ਮਾਲੀ ਕੇ ਹੋਵਹੁ ॥੨॥
अम्रितु सिंचहु भरहु किआरे तउ माली के होवहु ॥२॥
Amriṯ sincẖahu bẖarahu ki▫āre ṯa▫o mālī ke hovhu. ||2||
Irrigate your fields with the Ambrosial Nectar, and you shall be owned by God the Gardener. ||2||

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਦੁਇ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਸੋਲੇ ਗੋਡਹੁ ਧਰਤੀ ਭਾਈ ॥
कामु क्रोधु दुइ करहु बसोले गोडहु धरती भाई ॥
Kām kroḏẖ ḏu▫e karahu basole godahu ḏẖarṯī bẖā▫ī.
Let sexual desire and anger be your two shovels, to dig up the dirt of your farm, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਜਿਉ ਗੋਡਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
जिउ गोडहु तिउ तुम्ह सुख पावहु किरतु न मेटिआ जाई ॥३॥
Ji▫o godahu ṯi▫o ṯumĥ sukẖ pāvhu kiraṯ na meti▫ā jā▫ī. ||3||
The more you dig, the more peace you shall find. Your past actions cannot be erased. ||3||

ਬਗੁਲੇ ਤੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੰਸੁਲਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੇ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
बगुले ते फुनि हंसुला होवै जे तू करहि दइआला ॥
Bagule ṯe fun hansulā hovai je ṯū karahi ḏa▫i▫ālā.
The crane is again transformed into a swan, if You so will, O Merciful Lord.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੯॥
प्रणवति नानकु दासनि दासा दइआ करहु दइआला ॥४॥१॥९॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ḏāsan ḏāsā ḏa▫i▫ā karahu ḏa▫i▫ālā. ||4||1||9||
Prays Nanak, the slave of Your slaves: O Merciful Lord, have mercy on me. ||4||1||9||

ਸਾਹੁਰੜੀ ਵਥੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਝੀ ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਧਨ ਵਖੇ ॥
साहुरड़ी वथु सभु किछु साझी पेवकड़ै धन वखे ॥
Sāhuraṛī vath sabẖ kicẖẖ sājẖī pevkaṛai ḏẖan vakẖe.
In the House of the Husband Lord - in the world hereafter, everything is jointly owned; but in this world - in the house of the soul-bride's parents, the soul-bride owns them separately.

ਆਪਿ ਕੁਚਜੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਨ ਦੇਊ ਜਾਣਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਖੇ ॥੧॥
आपि कुचजी दोसु न देऊ जाणा नाही रखे ॥१॥
Āp kucẖjī ḏos na ḏe▫ū jāṇā nāhī rakẖe. ||1||
She herself is ill-mannered; how can she blame anyone else? She does not know how to take care of these things. ||1||
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਹਉ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀ ॥
मेरे साहिबा हउ आपे भरमि भुलाणी ॥
Mere sāhibā ha▫o āpe bẖaram bẖulāṇī.
O my Lord and Master, I am deluded by doubt.

ਅਖਰ ਲਿਖੇ ਸੇਈ ਗਾਵਾ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अखर लिखे सेई गावा अवर न जाणा बाणी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Akẖar likẖe se▫ī gāvā avar na jāṇā baṇī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I sing the Word which You have written; I do not know any other Word. ||1||Pause||

ਕਢਿ ਕਸੀਦਾ ਪਹਿਰਹਿ ਚੋਲੀ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
कढि कसीदा पहिरहि चोली तां तुम्ह जाणहु नारी ॥
Kadẖ kasīḏā pahirahi cẖolī ṯāʼn ṯumĥ jāṇhu nārī.
She alone is known as the Lord's bride, who embroiders her gown in the Name.

ਜੇ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਬੁਰਾ ਨ ਚਾਖਹਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨॥
जे घरु राखहि बुरा न चाखहि होवहि कंत पिआरी ॥२॥
Je gẖar rākẖahi burā na cẖākẖahi hovėh kanṯ pi▫ārī. ||2||
She who preserves and protects the home of her own heart and does not taste of evil, shall be the Beloved of her Husband Lord. ||2||
|
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਪੜਿਆ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਦੁਇ ਅਖਰ ਦੁਇ ਨਾਵਾ ॥
जे तूं पड़िआ पंडितु बीना दुइ अखर दुइ नावा ॥
Je ṯūʼn paṛi▫ā pandiṯ bīnā ḏu▫e akẖar ḏu▫e nāvā.
If you are a learned and wise religious scholar, then make a boat of the letters of the Lord's Name.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਲੰਘਾਏ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਾਂ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੦॥
प्रणवति नानकु एकु लंघाए जे करि सचि समावां ॥३॥२॥१०॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ek langẖā▫e je kar sacẖ samāvāʼn. ||3||2||10||
Prays Nanak, the One Lord shall carry you across, if you merge in the True Lord. ||3||2||10||

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹਿੰਡੋਲ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
बसंतु हिंडोल महला १ ॥

ਰਾਜਾ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਨਗਰੀ ਕਾਚੀ ਦੁਸਟਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
राजा बालकु नगरी काची दुसटा नालि पिआरो ॥
Rājā bālak nagrī kācẖī ḏustā nāl pi▫āro.
The king is just a boy, and his city is vulnerable. He is in love with his wicked enemies.

ਦੁਇ ਮਾਈ ਦੁਇ ਬਾਪਾ ਪੜੀਅਹਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
दुइ माई दुइ बापा पड़ीअहि पंडित करहु बीचारो ॥१॥
Ḏu▫e mā▫ī ḏu▫e bāpā paṛī▫ah pandiṯ karahu bīcẖāro. ||1||
He reads of his two mothers and his two fathers; O Pandit, reflect on this. ||1||
|
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੰਡਿਤਾ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ॥
सुआमी पंडिता तुम्ह देहु मती ॥
Su▫āmī pandiṯā ṯumĥ ḏeh maṯī.
O Master Pandit, teach me about this.

ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਵਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
किन बिधि पावउ प्रानपती ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kin biḏẖ pāva▫o parānpaṯī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
How can I obtain the Lord of life? ||1||Pause||
|
ਭੀਤਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਨਾਸਪਤਿ ਮਉਲੀ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਪੰਡੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
भीतरि अगनि बनासपति मउली सागरु पंडै पाइआ ॥
Bẖīṯar agan banāspaṯ ma▫ulī sāgar pandẖai pā▫i▫ā.
There is fire within the plants which bloom; the ocean is tied into a bundle.

ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
चंदु सूरजु दुइ घर ही भीतरि ऐसा गिआनु न पाइआ ॥२॥
Cẖanḏ sūraj ḏu▫e gẖar hī bẖīṯar aisā gi▫ān na pā▫i▫ā. ||2||
The sun and the moon dwell in the same home in the sky. You have not obtained this knowledge. ||2||
|
ਰਾਮ ਰਵੰਤਾ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਇਕ ਮਾਈ ਭੋਗੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
राम रवंता जाणीऐ इक माई भोगु करेइ ॥
Rām ravanṯā jāṇī▫ai ik mā▫ī bẖog kare▫i.
One who knows the All-pervading Lord, eats up the one mother - Maya.
|
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਲਖਣ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਖਿਮਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੇਇ ॥੩॥
ता के लखण जाणीअहि खिमा धनु संग्रहेइ ॥३॥
Ŧā ke lakẖaṇ jāṇī▫ahi kẖimā ḏẖan sangar▫he▫e. ||3||
Know that the sign of such a person is that he gathers the wealth of compassion. ||3||
|
ਕਹਿਆ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਨ ਖਾਇਆ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਹੀ ਸੇਤੀ ਵਾਸਾ ॥
कहिआ सुणहि न खाइआ मानहि तिन्हा ही सेती वासा ॥
Kahi▫ā suṇėh na kẖā▫i▫ā mānėh ṯinĥā hī seṯī vāsā.
The mind lives with those who do not listen, and do not admit what they eat.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਖਿਨੁ ਤੋਲਾ ਖਿਨੁ ਮਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੧॥
प्रणवति नानकु दासनि दासा खिनु तोला खिनु मासा ॥४॥३॥११॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ḏāsan ḏāsā kẖin ṯolā kẖin māsā. ||4||3||11||
Prays Nanak, the slave of the Lord's slave: one instant the mind is huge, and the next instant, it is tiny. ||4||3||11||

ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
साचा साहु गुरू सुखदाता हरि मेले भुख गवाए ॥
Sācẖā sāhu gurū sukẖ▫ḏāṯa har mele bẖukẖ gavā▫e.
The Guru is the True Banker, the Giver of peace; He unites the mortal with the Lord, and satisfies his hunger.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥
करि किरपा हरि भगति द्रिड़ाए अनदिनु हरि गुण गाए ॥१॥
Kar kirpā har bẖagaṯ driṛ▫ā▫e an▫ḏin har guṇ gā▫e. ||1||
Granting His Grace, He implants devotional worship of the Lord within; and then night and day, we sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਮਤ ਭੂਲਹਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਚੇਤਿ ਹਰੀ ॥
मत भूलहि रे मन चेति हरी ॥
Maṯ bẖūlėh re man cẖeṯ harī.
O my mind, do not forget the Lord; keep Him in your consciousness.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बिनु गुर मुकति नाही त्रै लोई गुरमुखि पाईऐ नामु हरी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bin gur mukaṯ nāhī ṯarai lo▫ī gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai nām harī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the Guru, no one is liberated anywhere in the three worlds. The Gurmukh obtains the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਨਹੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰੀ ॥
बिनु भगती नही सतिगुरु पाईऐ बिनु भागा नही भगति हरी ॥
Bin bẖagṯī nahī saṯgur pā▫ī▫ai bin bẖāgā nahī bẖagaṯ harī.
Without devotional worship, the True Guru is not obtained. Without good destiny, devotional worship of the Lord is not obtained.

ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਸਤਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੀ ॥੨॥
बिनु भागा सतसंगु न पाईऐ करमि मिलै हरि नामु हरी ॥२॥
Bin bẖāgā saṯsang na pā▫ī▫ai karam milai har nām harī. ||2||
Without good destiny, the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, is not obtained. By the grace of one's good karma, the Lord's Name is received. ||2||

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਉਪਾਏ ਵੇਖੈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ॥
घटि घटि गुपतु उपाए वेखै परगटु गुरमुखि संत जना ॥
Gẖat gẖat gupaṯ upā▫e vekẖai pargat gurmukẖ sanṯ janā.
In each and every heart, the Lord is hidden; He creates and watches over all. He reveals Himself in the humble, Saintly Gurmukhs.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਲੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਾ ॥੩॥
हरि हरि करहि सु हरि रंगि भीने हरि जलु अम्रित नामु मना ॥३॥
Har har karahi so har rang bẖīne har jal amriṯ nām manā. ||3||
Those who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, are drenched with the Lord's Love. Their minds are drenched with the Ambrosial Water of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
