ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥
गिआन अंजनु सतिगुर ते होइ ॥
Gi▫ān anjan saṯgur ṯe ho▫e.
The ointment of spiritual wisdom is obtained from the True Guru.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥੩॥
राम नामु रवि रहिआ तिहु लोइ ॥३॥
Rām nām rav rahi▫ā ṯihu lo▫e. ||3||
The Lord's Name is pervading the three worlds. ||3||

ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਏਕੁ ਹੋਰ ਰੁਤਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
कलिजुग महि हरि जीउ एकु होर रुति न काई ॥
Kalijug mėh har jī▫o ek hor ruṯ na kā▫ī.
In Kali Yuga, it is the time for the One Dear Lord; it is not the time for anything else.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਜਮਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
नानक गुरमुखि हिरदै राम नामु लेहु जमाई ॥४॥१०॥
Nānak gurmukẖ hirḏai rām nām leho jamā▫ī. ||4||10||
O Nanak, as Gurmukh, let the Lord's Name grow within your heart. ||4||10||

ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਹਿ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ॥
दुबिधा मनमुख रोगि विआपे त्रिसना जलहि अधिकाई ॥
Ḏubiḏẖā manmukẖ rog vi▫āpe ṯarisnā jalėh aḏẖikā▫ī.
The self-willed manmukhs are afflicted with the disease of duality; they are burnt by the intense fire of desire.

ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧॥
मरि मरि जमहि ठउर न पावहि बिरथा जनमु गवाई ॥१॥
Mar mar jamėh ṯẖa▫ur na pāvahi birthā janam gavā▫ī. ||1||
They die and die again, and are reborn; they find no place of rest. They waste their lives uselessly. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇਹੁ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
मेरे प्रीतम करि किरपा देहु बुझाई ॥
Mere parīṯam kar kirpā ḏeh bujẖā▫ī.
O my Beloved, grant Your Grace, and give me understanding.

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੀ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हउमै रोगी जगतु उपाइआ बिनु सबदै रोगु न जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ha▫umai rogī jagaṯ upā▫i▫ā bin sabḏai rog na jā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The world was created in the disease of egotism; without the Word of the Shabad, the disease is not cured. ||1||Pause||

ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੜਹਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
सिम्रिति सासत्र पड़हि मुनि केते बिनु सबदै सुरति न पाई ॥
Simriṯ sāsṯar paṛėh mun keṯe bin sabḏai suraṯ na pā▫ī.
There are so many silent sages, who read the Simritees and the Shaastras; without the Shabad, they have no clear awareness.

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਭੇ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਮਮਤਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੨॥
त्रै गुण सभे रोगि विआपे ममता सुरति गवाई ॥२॥
Ŧarai guṇ sabẖe rog vi▫āpe mamṯā suraṯ gavā▫ī. ||2||
All those under the influence of the three qualities are afflicted with the disease; through possessiveness, they lose their awareness. ||2||
|
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਾਏ ॥
इकि आपे काढि लए प्रभि आपे गुर सेवा प्रभि लाए ॥
Ik āpe kādẖ la▫e parabẖ āpe gur sevā parabẖ lā▫e.
O God, you save some, and you enjoin others to serve the Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੋ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥੩॥
हरि का नामु निधानो पाइआ सुखु वसिआ मनि आए ॥३॥
Har kā nām niḏẖāno pā▫i▫ā sukẖ vasi▫ā man ā▫e. ||3||
They obtain the treasure of the Name of the Lord; peace comes to abide within their minds. ||3||

ਚਉਥੀ ਪਦਵੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
चउथी पदवी गुरमुखि वरतहि तिन निज घरि वासा पाइआ ॥
Cẖa▫uthī paḏvī gurmukẖ varṯėh ṯin nij gẖar vāsā pā▫i▫ā.
The Gurmukhs dwell in the fourth state; they obtain a dwelling in the home of their own inner being.

ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਨੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
पूरै सतिगुरि किरपा कीनी विचहु आपु गवाइआ ॥४॥
Pūrai saṯgur kirpā kīnī vicẖahu āp gavā▫i▫ā. ||4||
The Perfect True Guru shows His Mercy to them; they eradicate their self-conceit from within. ||4||

ਏਕਸੁ ਕੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਏਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਰੁਦ੍ਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
एकसु की सिरि कार एक जिनि ब्रहमा बिसनु रुद्रु उपाइआ ॥
Ėkas kī sir kār ek jin barahmā bisan ruḏar upā▫i▫ā.
Everyone must serve the One Lord, who created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੋ ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੧॥
नानक निहचलु साचा एको ना ओहु मरै न जाइआ ॥५॥१॥११॥
Nānak nihcẖal sācẖā eko nā oh marai na jā▫i▫ā. ||5||1||11||
O Nanak, the One True Lord is permanent and stable. He does not die, and He is not born. ||5||1||11||

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਰੋਗੀ ਰੋਗੀ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
मनमुखि दुबिधा सदा है रोगी रोगी सगल संसारा ॥
Manmukẖ ḏubiḏẖā saḏā hai rogī rogī sagal sansārā.
The self-willed manmukh is afflicted with the disease of duality forever; the entire universe is diseased.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
गुरमुखि बूझहि रोगु गवावहि गुर सबदी वीचारा ॥१॥
Gurmukẖ būjẖėh rog gavāvėh gur sabḏī vīcẖārā. ||1||
The Gurmukh understands, and is cured of the disease, contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾਇ ॥
हरि जीउ सतसंगति मेलाइ ॥
Har jī▫o saṯsangaṯ melā▫e.
O Dear Lord, please let me join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नानक तिस नो देइ वडिआई जो राम नामि चितु लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nānak ṯis no ḏe▫e vadi▫ā▫ī jo rām nām cẖiṯ lā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
O Nanak, the Lord blesses with glorious greatness, those who focus their consciousness on the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||

ਮਮਤਾ ਕਾਲਿ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰਾ ॥
ममता कालि सभि रोगि विआपे तिन जम की है सिरि कारा ॥
Mamṯā kāl sabẖ rog vi▫āpe ṯin jam kī hai sir kārā.
Death takes all those who are afflicted with the disease of possessiveness. They are subject to the Messenger of Death.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
गुरमुखि प्राणी जमु नेड़ि न आवै जिन हरि राखिआ उरि धारा ॥२॥
Gurmukẖ parāṇī jam neṛ na āvai jin har rākẖi▫ā ur ḏẖārā. ||2||
The Messenger of Death does not even approach that mortal who, as Gurmukh, enshrines the Lord within his heart. ||2||

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਆਇਆ ॥
जिन हरि का नामु न गुरमुखि जाता से जग महि काहे आइआ ॥
Jin har kā nām na gurmukẖ jāṯā se jag mėh kāhe ā▫i▫ā.
One who does not know the Lord's Name, and who does not become Gurmukh - why did he even come into the world?

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
गुर की सेवा कदे न कीनी बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥३॥
Gur kī sevā kaḏe na kīnī birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā. ||3||
He never serves the Guru; he wastes his life uselessly. ||3||
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
नानक से पूरे वडभागी सतिगुर सेवा लाए ॥
Nānak se pūre vadbẖāgī saṯgur sevā lā▫e.
O Nanak, those whom the True Guru enjoins to His service, have perfect good fortune.

ਜੋ ਇਛਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੨॥
जो इछहि सोई फलु पावहि गुरबाणी सुखु पाए ॥४॥२॥१२॥
Jo icẖẖėh so▫ī fal pāvahi gurbāṇī sukẖ pā▫e. ||4||2||12||
They obtain the fruits of their desires, and find peace in the Word of the Guru's Bani. ||4||2||12||

ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਦੁਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
दुख विचि जमै दुखि मरै दुख विचि कार कमाइ ॥
Ḏukẖ vicẖ jammai ḏukẖ marai ḏukẖ vicẖ kār kamā▫e.
In pain he is born, in pain he dies, and in pain he does his deeds.

ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
गरभ जोनी विचि कदे न निकलै बिसटा माहि समाइ ॥१॥
Garabẖ jonī vicẖ kaḏe na niklai bistā māhi samā▫e. ||1||
He is never released from the womb of reincarnation; he rots away in manure. ||1||
|
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
ध्रिगु ध्रिगु मनमुखि जनमु गवाइआ ॥
Ḏẖarig ḏẖarig manmukẖ janam gavā▫i▫ā.
Cursed, cursed is the self-willed manmukh, who wastes his life away.

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पूरे गुर की सेव न कीनी हरि का नामु न भाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pūre gur kī sev na kīnī har kā nām na bẖā▫i▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He does not serve the Perfect Guru; he does not love the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ਗਵਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਲਾਏ ॥
गुर का सबदु सभि रोग गवाए जिस नो हरि जीउ लाए ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ sabẖ rog gavā▫e jis no har jī▫o lā▫e.
The Word of the Guru's Shabad cures all diseases; he alone is attached to it, whom the Dear Lord attaches.
