ਇਸੁ ਗਰਬ ਤੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
इसु गरब ते चलहि बहुतु विकारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Is garab ṯe cẖalėh bahuṯ vikārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
So much sin and corruption comes from this pride. ||1||Pause||
|
ਚਾਰੇ ਵਰਨ ਆਖੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
चारे वरन आखै सभु कोई ॥
Cẖāre varan ākẖai sabẖ ko▫ī.
Everyone says that there are four castes, four social classes.
|
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਓਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
ब्रहमु बिंद ते सभ ओपति होई ॥२॥
Barahm binḏ ṯe sabẖ opaṯ ho▫ī. ||2||
They all emanate from the drop of God's Seed. ||2||
|
ਮਾਟੀ ਏਕ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
माटी एक सगल संसारा ॥
Mātī ek sagal sansārā.
The entire universe is made of the same clay.
|
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਘੜੈ ਕੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
बहु बिधि भांडे घड़ै कुम्हारा ॥३॥
Baho biḏẖ bẖāʼnde gẖaṛai kumĥārā. ||3||
The Potter has shaped it into all sorts of vessels. ||3||
|
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਕਾ ਆਕਾਰਾ ॥
पंच ततु मिलि देही का आकारा ॥
Pancẖ ṯaṯ mil ḏehī kā ākārā.
The five elements join together, to make up the form of the human body.

ਘਟਿ ਵਧਿ ਕੋ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
घटि वधि को करै बीचारा ॥४॥
Gẖat vaḏẖ ko karai bīcẖārā. ||4||
Who can say which is less, and which is more? ||4||
|
ਕਹਤੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਕਰਮ ਬੰਧੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
कहतु नानक इहु जीउ करम बंधु होई ॥
Kahaṯ Nānak ih jī▫o karam banḏẖ ho▫ī.
Says Nanak, this soul is bound by its actions.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥੧॥
बिनु सतिगुर भेटे मुकति न होई ॥५॥१॥
Bin saṯgur bẖete mukaṯ na ho▫ī. ||5||1||
Without meeting the True Guru, it is not liberated. ||5||1||

ਜੋਗੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥
जोगी ग्रिही पंडित भेखधारी ॥
Jogī garihī pandiṯ bẖekẖ▫ḏẖārī.
The Yogis, the householders, the Pandits, the religious scholars, and the beggars in religious robes -
|
ਏ ਸੂਤੇ ਅਪਣੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
ए सूते अपणै अहंकारी ॥१॥
Ė sūṯe apṇai ahaʼnkārī. ||1||
they are all asleep in egotism. ||1||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
माइआ मदि माता रहिआ सोइ ॥
Mā▫i▫ā maḏ māṯā rahi▫ā so▫e.
They are asleep, intoxicated with the wine of Maya.
|
ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਮੂਸੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जागतु रहै न मूसै कोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jāgaṯ rahai na mūsai ko▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Only those who remain awake and aware are not robbed. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥
सो जागै जिसु सतिगुरु मिलै ॥
So jāgai jis saṯgur milai.
One who has met the True Guru, remains awake and aware.
|
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਓਹੁ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥
पंच दूत ओहु वसगति करै ॥२॥
Pancẖ ḏūṯ oh vasgaṯ karai. ||2||
Such a person overpowers the five thieves. ||2||
|
ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜੋ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
सो जागै जो ततु बीचारै ॥
So jāgai jo ṯaṯ bīcẖārai.
One who contemplates the essence of reality remains awake and aware.
|
ਆਪਿ ਮਰੈ ਅਵਰਾ ਨਹ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
आपि मरै अवरा नह मारै ॥३॥
Āp marai avrā nah mārai. ||3||
He kills his self-conceit, and does not kill anyone else. ||3||
|
ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜੋ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
सो जागै जो एको जाणै ॥
So jāgai jo eko jāṇai.
One who knows the One Lord remains awake and aware.
|
ਪਰਕਿਰਤਿ ਛੋਡੈ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੪॥
परकिरति छोडै ततु पछाणै ॥४॥
Parkiraṯ cẖẖodai ṯaṯ pacẖẖāṇai. ||4||
He abandons the service of others, and realizes the essence of reality. ||4||
|
ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
चहु वरना विचि जागै कोइ ॥
Cẖahu varnā vicẖ jāgai ko▫e.
Of the four castes, whoever remains awake and aware
|
ਜਮੈ ਕਾਲੈ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੫॥
जमै कालै ते छूटै सोइ ॥५॥
Jamai kālai ṯe cẖẖūtai so▫e. ||5||
is released from birth and death. ||5||
|
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
कहत नानक जनु जागै सोइ ॥
Kahaṯ Nānak jan jāgai so▫e.
Says Nanak, that humble being remains awake and aware,
|
ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਨੇਤ੍ਰੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥੨॥
गिआन अंजनु जा की नेत्री होइ ॥६॥२॥
Gi▫ān anjan jā kī neṯrī ho▫e. ||6||2||
who applies the ointment of spiritual wisdom to his eyes. ||6||2||

ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
भैरउ महला ३ ॥
Bẖairo mėhlā 3.
Bhairao, Third Mehl:

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਪਣੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
जा कउ राखै अपणी सरणाई ॥
Jā ka▫o rākẖai apṇī sarṇā▫ī.
Whoever the Lord keeps in His Sanctuary,
|
ਸਾਚੇ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
साचे लागै साचा फलु पाई ॥१॥
Sācẖe lāgai sācẖā fal pā▫ī. ||1||
is attached to the Truth, and receives the fruit of Truth. ||1||
|
ਰੇ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ॥
रे जन कै सिउ करहु पुकारा ॥
Re jan kai si▫o karahu pukārā.
O mortal, unto whom will you complain?
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੋਆ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हुकमे होआ हुकमे वरतारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Hukme ho▫ā hukme varṯārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Hukam of the Lord's Command is pervasive; by the Hukam of His Command, all things happen. ||1||Pause||
|
ਏਹੁ ਆਕਾਰੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਧਾਰਾ ॥
एहु आकारु तेरा है धारा ॥
Ėhu ākār ṯerā hai ḏẖārā.
This Creation was established by You.
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਕਰਤ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਬਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
खिन महि बिनसै करत न लागै बारा ॥२॥
Kẖin mėh binsai karaṯ na lāgai bārā. ||2||
In an instant You destroy it, and You create it again without a moment's delay. ||2||
|
ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੁ ਇਕੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
करि प्रसादु इकु खेलु दिखाइआ ॥
Kar parsāḏ ik kẖel ḏikẖā▫i▫ā.
By His Grace, He has staged this Play.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
गुर किरपा ते परम पदु पाइआ ॥३॥
Gur kirpā ṯe param paḏ pā▫i▫ā. ||3||
By the Guru's Merciful Grace, I have obtained the supreme status. ||3||
|
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
कहत नानकु मारि जीवाले सोइ ॥
Kahaṯ Nānak mār jīvāle so▫e.
Says Nanak, He alone kills and revives.

ਐਸਾ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥
ऐसा बूझहु भरमि न भूलहु कोइ ॥४॥३॥
Aisā būjẖhu bẖaram na bẖūlahu ko▫e. ||4||3||
Understand this well - do not be confused by doubt. ||4||3||

ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
भैरउ महला ३ ॥

Bhairao, Third Mehl:

ਮੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੰਤੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
मै कामणि मेरा कंतु करतारु ॥
Mai kāmaṇ merā kanṯ karṯār.
I am the bride; the Creator is my Husband Lord.
|
ਜੇਹਾ ਕਰਾਏ ਤੇਹਾ ਕਰੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
जेहा कराए तेहा करी सीगारु ॥१॥
Jehā karā▫e ṯehā karī sīgār. ||1||
As He inspires me, I adorn myself. ||1||
|
ਜਾਂ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਰੇ ਭੋਗੁ ॥
जां तिसु भावै तां करे भोगु ॥
Jāʼn ṯis bẖāvai ṯāʼn kare bẖog.
When it pleases Him, He enjoys me.

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तनु मनु साचे साहिब जोगु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧan man sācẖe sāhib jog. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I am joined, body and mind, to my True Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||
|
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਈ ॥
उसतति निंदा करे किआ कोई ॥
Usṯaṯ ninḏā kare ki▫ā ko▫ī.
How can anyone praise or slander anyone else?
|
ਜਾਂ ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
जां आपे वरतै एको सोई ॥२॥
Jāʼn āpe varṯai eko so▫ī. ||2||
The One Lord Himself is pervading and permeating all. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਿਰਮ ਕਸਾਈ ॥
गुर परसादी पिरम कसाई ॥
Gur parsādī piram kasā▫ī.
By Guru's Grace, I am attracted by His Love.
|
ਮਿਲਉਗੀ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
मिलउगी दइआल पंच सबद वजाई ॥३॥
Mila▫ugī ḏa▫i▫āl pancẖ sabaḏ vajā▫ī. ||3||
I shall meet with my Merciful Lord, and vibrate the Panch Shabad, the Five Primal Sounds. ||3||
|
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਇ ॥
भनति नानकु करे किआ कोइ ॥
Bẖanaṯ Nānak kare ki▫ā ko▫e.
Prays Nanak, what can anyone do?
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੪॥
जिस नो आपि मिलावै सोइ ॥४॥४॥
Jis no āp milāvai so▫e. ||4||4||
He alone meets with the Lord, whom the Lord Himself meets. ||4||4||

ਸੋ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
सो मुनि जि मन की दुबिधा मारे ॥
So mun jė man kī ḏubiḏẖā māre.
He alone is a silent sage, who subdues his mind's duality.
|
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
दुबिधा मारि ब्रहमु बीचारे ॥१॥
Ḏubiḏẖā mār barahm bīcẖāre. ||1||
Subduing his duality, he contemplates God. ||1||
|
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
इसु मन कउ कोई खोजहु भाई ॥
Is man ka▫o ko▫ī kẖojahu bẖā▫ī.
Let each person examine his own mind, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਮਨੁ ਖੋਜਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मनु खोजत नामु नउ निधि पाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Man kẖojaṯ nām na▫o niḏẖ pā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Examine your mind, and you shall obtain the nine treasures of the Naam. ||1||Pause||
|
ਮੂਲੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
मूलु मोहु करि करतै जगतु उपाइआ ॥
Mūl moh kar karṯai jagaṯ upā▫i▫ā.
The Creator created the world, upon the foundation of worldly love and attachment.
|
ਮਮਤਾ ਲਾਇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੋੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
ममता लाइ भरमि भोलाइआ ॥२॥
Mamṯā lā▫e bẖaram bẖolā▫i▫ā. ||2||
Attaching it to possessiveness, He has led it into confusion with doubt. ||2||
|
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਪਿੰਡ ਪਰਾਣਾ ॥
इसु मन ते सभ पिंड पराणा ॥
Is man ṯe sabẖ pind parāṇā.
From this Mind come all bodies, and the breath of life.
|
ਮਨ ਕੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੩॥
मन कै वीचारि हुकमु बुझि समाणा ॥३॥
Man kai vīcẖār hukam bujẖ samāṇā. ||3||
By mental contemplation, the mortal realizes the Hukam of the Lord's Command, and merges in Him. ||3||
