ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
जुग चारे गुर सबदि पछाता ॥
Jug chaaré gur sabaḋ pachʰaaṫaa.
Throughout the four ages, he recognizes the Word of the Guru’s Shabad.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਨਮੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
गुरमुखि मरै न जनमै गुरमुखि गुरमुखि सबदि समाहा हे ॥१०॥
Gurmukʰ maræ na janmæ gurmukʰ gurmukʰ sabaḋ samaahaa hé. ||10||
The Gurmukh does not die, the Gurmukh is not reborn; the Gurmukh is immersed in the Shabad. ||10||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ॥
गुरमुखि नामि सबदि सालाहे ॥
Gurmukʰ naam sabaḋ saalaahé.
The Gurmukh praises the Naam, and the Shabad.

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥
अगम अगोचर वेपरवाहे ॥
Agam agochar véparvaahé.
God is inaccessible, unfathomable and self-sufficient.
|
ਏਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਸਬਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
एक नामि जुग चारि उधारे सबदे नाम विसाहा हे ॥११॥
Ék naam jug chaar uḋʰaaré sabḋé naam visaahaa hé. ||11||
The Naam, the Name of the One Lord, saves and redeems throughout the four ages. Through the Shabad, one trades in the Naam. ||11||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
गुरमुखि सांति सदा सुखु पाए ॥
Gurmukʰ saaⁿṫ saḋaa sukʰ paa▫é.
The Gurmukh obtains eternal peace and tranquility.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
गुरमुखि हिरदै नामु वसाए ॥
Gurmukʰ hirḋæ naam vasaa▫é.
The Gurmukh enshrines the Naam within his heart.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਕਾਟੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
गुरमुखि होवै सो नामु बूझै काटे दुरमति फाहा हे ॥१२॥
Gurmukʰ hovæ so naam boojʰæ kaaté ḋurmaṫ faahaa hé. ||12||
One who becomes Gurmukh recognizes the Naam, and the noose of evil-mindedness is snapped. ||12||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
गुरमुखि उपजै साचि समावै ॥
Gurmukʰ upjæ saach samaavæ.
The Gurmukh wells up from, and then merges back into Truth.
|
ਨਾ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਨ ਜੂਨੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
ना मरि जंमै न जूनी पावै ॥
Naa mar jammæ na joonee paavæ.
He does not die and take birth, and is not consigned to reincarnation.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲੈਦੇ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
गुरमुखि सदा रहहि रंगि राते अनदिनु लैदे लाहा हे ॥१३॥
Gurmukʰ saḋaa rahėh rang raaṫé an▫ḋin læḋé laahaa hé. ||13||
The Gurmukh remains forever imbued with the color of the Lord’s Love. Night and day, he earns a profit. ||13||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
गुरमुखि भगत सोहहि दरबारे ॥
Gurmukʰ bʰagaṫ sohėh ḋarbaaré.
The Gurmukhs, the devotees, are exalted and beautified in the Court of the Lord.
|
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
सची बाणी सबदि सवारे ॥
Sachee baṇee sabaḋ savaaré.
They are embellished with the True Word of His Bani, and the Word of the Shabad.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
अनदिनु गुण गावै दिनु राती सहज सेती घरि जाहा हे ॥१४॥
An▫ḋin guṇ gaavæ ḋin raaṫee sahj séṫee gʰar jaahaa hé. ||14||
Night and day, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, day and night, and they intuitively go to their own home. ||14||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरु पूरा सबदु सुणाए ॥
Saṫgur pooraa sabaḋ suṇaa▫é.
The Perfect True Guru proclaims the Shabad;

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
अनदिनु भगति करहु लिव लाए ॥
An▫ḋin bʰagaṫ karahu liv laa▫é.
night and day, remain lovingly attuned to devotional worship.
|
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
हरि गुण गावहि सद ही निरमल निरमल गुण पातिसाहा हे ॥१५॥
Har guṇ gaavahi saḋ hee nirmal nirmal guṇ paaṫisaahaa hé. ||15||
One who sings forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord, becomes immaculate; Immaculate are the Glorious Praises of the Sovereign Lord. ||15||
|
ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
गुण का दाता सचा सोई ॥
Guṇ kaa ḋaaṫaa sachaa so▫ee.
The True Lord is the Giver of virtue.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
गुरमुखि विरला बूझै कोई ॥
Gurmukʰ virlaa boojʰæ ko▫ee.
How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand this.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੧੧॥
नानक जनु नामु सलाहे बिगसै सो नामु बेपरवाहा हे ॥१६॥२॥११॥
Naanak jan naam salaahé bigsæ so naam béparvaahaa hé. ||16||2||11||
Servant Nanak praises the Naam; he blossoms forth in the ecstasy of the Name of the self-sufficient Lord. ||16||2||11||

Maaroo mėhlaa 3.
Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
हरि जीउ सेविहु अगम अपारा ॥
Har jee▫o sévihu agam apaaraa.
Serve the Dear Lord, the inaccessible and infinite.
|
ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
तिस दा अंतु न पाईऐ पारावारा ॥
Ṫis ḋaa anṫ na paa▫ee▫æ paaraavaaraa.
He has no end or limitation.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਮਤਿ ਅਗਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
गुर परसादि रविआ घट अंतरि तितु घटि मति अगाहा हे ॥१॥
Gur parsaaḋ ravi▫aa gʰat anṫar ṫiṫ gʰat maṫ agaahaa hé. ||1||
By Guru’s Grace, one who dwells upon the Lord deep within his heart - his heart is filled with infinite wisdom. ||1||
|
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥
सभ महि वरतै एको सोई ॥
Sabʰ mėh varṫæ éko so▫ee.
The One Lord is pervading and permeating amidst all.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
गुर परसादी परगटु होई ॥
Gur parsaadee pargat ho▫ee.
By Guru’s Grace, He is revealed.
|
ਸਭਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਕਰੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦੇਦਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
सभना प्रतिपाल करे जगजीवनु देदा रिजकु स्मबाहा हे ॥२॥
Sabʰnaa parṫipaal karé jagjeevan ḋéḋaa rijak sambaahaa hé. ||2||
The Life of the world nurtures and cherishes all, giving sustenance to all. ||2||
|
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥
पूरै सतिगुरि बूझि बुझाइआ ॥
Pooræ saṫgur boojʰ bujʰaa▫i▫aa.
The Perfect True Guru has imparted this understanding.
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
हुकमे ही सभु जगतु उपाइआ ॥
Hukmé hee sabʰ jagaṫ upaa▫i▫aa.
By the Hukam of His Command, He created the entire Universe.
|
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
हुकमु मंने सोई सुखु पाए हुकमु सिरि साहा पातिसाहा हे ॥३॥
Hukam manné so▫ee sukʰ paa▫é hukam sir saahaa paaṫisaahaa hé. ||3||
Whoever submits to His Command, finds peace; His Command is above the heads of kings and emperors. ||3||
|
ਸਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
सचा सतिगुरु सबदु अपारा ॥
Sachaa saṫgur sabaḋ apaaraa.
True is the True Guru. Infinite is the Word of His Shabad.

ਤਿਸ ਦੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
तिस दै सबदि निसतरै संसारा ॥
Ṫis ḋæ sabaḋ nisṫaræ sansaaraa.
Through His Shabad, the world is saved.
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਦੇਦਾ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
आपे करता करि करि वेखै देदा सास गिराहा हे ॥४॥
Aapé karṫaa kar kar vékʰæ ḋéḋaa saas giraahaa hé. ||4||
The Creator Himself created the creation; He gazes upon it, and blesses it with breath and nourishment. ||4||
|
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
कोटि मधे किसहि बुझाए ॥
Kot maḋʰé kisėh bujʰaa▫é.
Out of millions, only a few understand.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
गुर कै सबदि रते रंगु लाए ॥
Gur kæ sabaḋ raṫé rang laa▫é.
Imbued with the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, they are colored in His Love.
|
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
हरि सालाहहि सदा सुखदाता हरि बखसे भगति सलाहा हे ॥५॥
Har saalaahahi saḋaa sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa har bakʰsé bʰagaṫ salaahaa hé. ||5||
They praise the Lord, the Giver of peace forever; the Lord forgives His devotees, and blesses them with His Praise. ||5||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवहि से जन साचे ॥
Saṫgur sévėh sé jan saaché.
Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are true.
|
ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚਨਿ ਕਾਚੇ ॥
जो मरि जंमहि काचनि काचे ॥
Jo mar jamėh kaachan kaaché.
The falsest of the false die, only to be reborn.
|
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਅਥਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
अगम अगोचरु वेपरवाहा भगति वछलु अथाहा हे ॥६॥
Agam agochar véparvaahaa bʰagaṫ vachʰal aṫʰaahaa hé. ||6||
The inaccessible, unfathomable, self-sufficient, incomprehensible Lord is the Lover of His devotees. ||6||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरु पूरा साचु द्रिड़ाए ॥
Saṫgur pooraa saach driṛ▫aa▫é.
The Perfect True Guru implants Truth within.
|
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
सचै सबदि सदा गुण गाए ॥
Sachæ sabaḋ saḋaa guṇ gaa▫é.
Through the True Word of the Shabad, they sing His Glorious Praises forever.
|
ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
गुणदाता वरतै सभ अंतरि सिरि सिरि लिखदा साहा हे ॥७॥
Guṇḋaaṫaa varṫæ sabʰ anṫar sir sir likʰ▫ḋaa saahaa hé. ||7||
The Giver of virtue is pervading deep within the nucleus of all beings; He inscribes the time of destiny upon each and every person’s head. ||7||
|
ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
सदा हदूरि गुरमुखि जापै ॥
Saḋaa haḋoor gurmukʰ jaapæ.
The Gurmukh knows that God is always ever-present.
|
ਸਬਦੇ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ॥
सबदे सेवै सो जनु ध्रापै ॥
Sabḋé sévæ so jan ḋʰaraapæ.
That humble being who serves the Shabad, is comforted and fulfilled.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
अनदिनु सेवहि सची बाणी सबदि सचै ओमाहा हे ॥८॥
An▫ḋin sévėh sachee baṇee sabaḋ sachæ omaahaa hé. ||8||
Night and day, he serves the True Word of the Guru’s Bani; he delights in the True Word of the Shabad. ||8||
|
ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧਾ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
अगिआनी अंधा बहु करम द्रिड़ाए ॥
Agi▫aanee anḋʰaa baho karam driṛ▫aa▫é.
The ignorant and blind cling to all sorts of rituals.
|
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਰਮ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
मनहठि करम फिरि जोनी पाए ॥
Manhatʰ karam fir jonee paa▫é.
They stubborn-mindedly perform these rituals, and are consigned to reincarnation.
