ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
गुरमुखि साचा सबदि पछाता ॥
Gurmukẖ sācẖā sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā.
The Gurmukh realizes the True Word of the Shabad.
|
ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
ना तिसु कुट्मबु ना तिसु माता ॥
Nā ṯis kutamb nā ṯis māṯā.
He has no family, and he has no mother.
|
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
एको एकु रविआ सभ अंतरि सभना जीआ का आधारी हे ॥१३॥
Ėko ek ravi▫ā sabẖ anṯar sabẖnā jī▫ā kā āḏẖārī he. ||13||
The One and Only Lord is pervading and permeating deep within the nucleus of all. He is the Support of all beings. ||13||
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
हउमै मेरा दूजा भाइआ ॥
Ha▫umai merā ḏūjā bẖā▫i▫ā.
Egotism, possessiveness, and the love of duality -
|
ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਖਸਮਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
किछु न चलै धुरि खसमि लिखि पाइआ ॥
Kicẖẖ na cẖalai ḏẖur kẖasam likẖ pā▫i▫ā.
none of these shall go along with you; such is the pre-ordained will of our Lord and Master.

ਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
गुर साचे ते साचु कमावहि साचै दूख निवारी हे ॥१४॥
Gur sācẖe ṯe sācẖ kamāvėh sācẖai ḏūkẖ nivārī he. ||14||
Through the True Guru, practice Truth, and the True Lord shall take away your pains. ||14||
|
ਜਾ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
जा तू देहि सदा सुखु पाए ॥
Jā ṯū ḏėh saḏā sukẖ pā▫e.
If You so bless me, then I shall find lasting peace.
|
ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
साचै सबदे साचु कमाए ॥
Sācẖai sabḏe sācẖ kamā▫e.
Through the True Word of the Shabad, I live the Truth.
|
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
अंदरु साचा मनु तनु साचा भगति भरे भंडारी हे ॥१५॥
Anḏar sācẖā man ṯan sācẖā bẖagaṯ bẖare bẖandārī he. ||15||
The True Lord is within me, and my mind and body have become True. I am blessed with the overflowing treasure of devotional worship. ||15||
|
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
आपे वेखै हुकमि चलाए ॥
Āpe vekẖai hukam cẖalā▫e.
He Himself watches, and issues His Command.
|
ਅਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
अपणा भाणा आपि कराए ॥
Apṇā bẖāṇā āp karā▫e.
He Himself inspires us to obey His Will.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੭॥
नानक नामि रते बैरागी मनु तनु रसना नामि सवारी हे ॥१६॥७॥
Nānak nām raṯe bairāgī man ṯan rasnā nām savārī he. ||16||7||
O Nanak, only those who are attuned to the Naam are detached; their minds, bodies and tongues are embellished with the Naam. ||16||7||

Mārū mėhlā 3.
Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਉਪੰਨਾ ॥
आपे आपु उपाइ उपंना ॥
Āpe āp upā▫e upannā.
He Himself created Himself, and came into being.
|
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੁ ਪਰਛੰਨਾ ॥
सभ महि वरतै एकु परछंना ॥
Sabẖ mėh varṯai ek parcẖẖannā.
The One Lord is pervading in all, remaining hidden.
|
ਸਭਨਾ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
सभना सार करे जगजीवनु जिनि अपणा आपु पछाता हे ॥१॥
Sabẖnā sār kare jagjīvan jin apṇā āp pacẖẖāṯā he. ||1||
The Lord, the Life of the world, takes care of all. Whoever knows his own self, realizes God. ||1||
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸੁ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
जिनि ब्रहमा बिसनु महेसु उपाए ॥
Jin barahmā bisan mahes upā▫e.
He who created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva,
|
ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
सिरि सिरि धंधै आपे लाए ॥
Sir sir ḏẖanḏẖai āpe lā▫e.
links each and every being to its tasks.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
जिसु भावै तिसु आपे मेले जिनि गुरमुखि एको जाता हे ॥२॥
Jis bẖāvai ṯis āpe mele jin gurmukẖ eko jāṯā he. ||2||
He merges into Himself, whoever is pleasing to His Will. The Gurmukh knows the One Lord. ||2||
|
ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
आवा गउणु है संसारा ॥
Āvā ga▫oṇ hai sansārā.
The world is coming and going in reincarnation.
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਹੁ ਚਿਤੈ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
माइआ मोहु बहु चितै बिकारा ॥
Mā▫i▫ā moh baho cẖiṯai bikārā.
Attached to Maya, it dwells on its many sins.
|
ਥਿਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
थिरु साचा सालाही सद ही जिनि गुर का सबदु पछाता हे ॥३॥
Thir sācẖā sālāhī saḏ hī jin gur kā sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā he. ||3||
One who realizes the Word of the Guru's Shabad, praises forever the eternal, unchanging True Lord. ||3||
|
ਇਕਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਲਗੇ ਓਨੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
इकि मूलि लगे ओनी सुखु पाइआ ॥
Ik mūl lage onī sukẖ pā▫i▫ā.
Some are attached to the root - they find peace.
|
ਡਾਲੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨੀ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
डाली लागे तिनी जनमु गवाइआ ॥
Dālī lāge ṯinī janam gavā▫i▫ā.
But those who are attached to the branches, waste their lives away uselessly.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਲਾਗੇ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
अम्रित फल तिन जन कउ लागे जो बोलहि अम्रित बाता हे ॥४॥
Amriṯ fal ṯin jan ka▫o lāge jo bolėh amriṯ bāṯā he. ||4||
Those humble beings, who chant the Name of the Ambrosial Lord, produce the ambrosial fruit. ||4||
|
ਹਮ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਆ ਬੋਲਹ ਬੋਲ ॥
हम गुण नाही किआ बोलह बोल ॥
Ham guṇ nāhī ki▫ā bolah bol.
I have no virtues; what words should I speak?
|
ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਤੋਲਹਿ ਤੋਲ ॥
तू सभना देखहि तोलहि तोल ॥
Ŧū sabẖnā ḏekẖėh ṯolėh ṯol.
You see all, and weigh them on Your scale.
|
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਰਹਣਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
जिउ भावै तिउ राखहि रहणा गुरमुखि एको जाता हे ॥५॥
Ji▫o bẖāvai ṯi▫o rākẖahi rahṇā gurmukẖ eko jāṯā he. ||5||
By Your will, You preserve me, and so do I remain. The Gurmukh knows the One Lord. ||5||
|
ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਾ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਏ ॥
जा तुधु भाणा ता सची कारै लाए ॥
Jā ṯuḏẖ bẖāṇā ṯā sacẖī kārai lā▫e.
According to Your Will, You link me to my true tasks.
|
ਅਵਗਣ ਛੋਡਿ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
अवगण छोडि गुण माहि समाए ॥
Avgaṇ cẖẖod guṇ māhi samā▫e.
Renouncing vice, I am immersed in virtue.
|
ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
गुण महि एको निरमलु साचा गुर कै सबदि पछाता हे ॥६॥
Guṇ mėh eko nirmal sācẖā gur kai sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā he. ||6||
The One Immaculate True Lord abides in virtue; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is realized. ||6||
|
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥
जह देखा तह एको सोई ॥
Jah ḏekẖā ṯah eko so▫ī.
Wherever I look, there I see Him.
|
ਦੂਜੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਖੋਈ ॥
दूजी दुरमति सबदे खोई ॥
Ḏūjī ḏurmaṯ sabḏe kẖo▫ī.
Duality and evil-mindedness are destroyed through the Shabad.
|
ਏਕਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਅਪਣੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਦ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
एकसु महि प्रभु एकु समाणा अपणै रंगि सद राता हे ॥७॥
Ėkas mėh parabẖ ek samāṇā apṇai rang saḏ rāṯā he. ||7||
The One Lord God is immersed in His Oneness. He is attuned forever to His own delight. ||7||
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਮਲੁ ਹੈ ਕੁਮਲਾਣਾ ॥
काइआ कमलु है कुमलाणा ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kamal hai kumlāṇā.
The body-lotus is withering away,
|
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਬੁਝੈ ਇਆਣਾ ॥
मनमुखु सबदु न बुझै इआणा ॥
Manmukẖ sabaḏ na bujẖai i▫āṇā.
but the ignorant, self-willed manmukh does not understand the Shabad.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਖੋਜੇ ਪਾਏ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
गुर परसादी काइआ खोजे पाए जगजीवनु दाता हे ॥८॥
Gur parsādī kā▫i▫ā kẖoje pā▫e jagjīvan ḏāṯā he. ||8||
By Guru's Grace, he searches his body, and finds the Great Giver, the Life of the world. ||8||
|
ਕੋਟ ਗਹੀ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
कोट गही के पाप निवारे ॥
Kot gahī ke pāp nivāre.
The Lord frees up the body-fortress, which was seized by sins,
|
ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
सदा हरि जीउ राखै उर धारे ॥
Saḏā har jī▫o rākẖai ur ḏẖāre.
when one keeps the Dear Lord enshrined forever in the heart.
|
ਜੋ ਇਛੇ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
जो इछे सोई फलु पाए जिउ रंगु मजीठै राता हे ॥९॥
Jo icẖẖe so▫ī fal pā▫e ji▫o rang majīṯẖai rāṯā he. ||9||
The fruits of his desires are obtained, and he is dyed in the permanent color of the Lord's Love. ||9||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਥੇ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
मनमुखु गिआनु कथे न होई ॥
Manmukẖ gi▫ān kathe na ho▫ī.
The self-willed manmukh speaks of spiritual wisdom, but does not understand.
|
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
फिरि फिरि आवै ठउर न कोई ॥
Fir fir āvai ṯẖa▫ur na ko▫ī.
Again and again, he comes into the world, but he finds no place of rest.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
गुरमुखि गिआनु सदा सालाहे जुगि जुगि एको जाता हे ॥१०॥
Gurmukẖ gi▫ān saḏā sālāhe jug jug eko jāṯā he. ||10||
The Gurmukh is spiritually wise, and praises the Lord forever. Throughout each and every age, the Gurmukh knows the One Lord. ||10||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
मनमुखु कार करे सभि दुख सबाए ॥
Manmukẖ kār kare sabẖ ḏukẖ sabā▫e.
All the deeds which the manmukh does bring pain - nothing but pain.
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਉ ਦਰਿ ਜਾਏ ॥
अंतरि सबदु नाही किउ दरि जाए ॥
Anṯar sabaḏ nāhī ki▫o ḏar jā▫e.
The Word of the Shabad is not within him; how can he go to the Court of the Lord?

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਦ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
गुरमुखि सबदु वसै मनि साचा सद सेवे सुखदाता हे ॥११॥
Gurmukẖ sabaḏ vasai man sācẖā saḏ seve sukẖ▫ḏāṯa he. ||11||
The True Shabad dwells deep within the mind of the Gurmukh; he serves the Giver of peace forever. ||11||
