ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸੀ ॥
जो तिसु भावै सोई करसी ॥
Jo ṯis bẖāvai so▫ī karsī.
He does whatever He pleases.

ਆਪਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਸੀ ॥
आपहु होआ ना किछु होसी ॥
Āphu ho▫ā nā kicẖẖ hosī.
No one has done, or can do anything by himself.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੩॥
नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई दरि साचै पति पाई हे ॥१६॥३॥
Nānak nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī ḏar sācẖai paṯ pā▫ī he. ||16||3||
O Nanak, through the Name, one is blessed with glorious greatness, and obtains honor in the Court of the True Lord. ||16||3||

Mārū mėhlā 3.
Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ਜੋ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
जो आइआ सो सभु को जासी ॥
Jo ā▫i▫ā so sabẖ ko jāsī.
All who come shall have to depart.
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਾਧਾ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ॥
दूजै भाइ बाधा जम फासी ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e bāḏẖā jam fāsī.
In the love of duality, they are caught by the noose of the Messenger of Death.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
सतिगुरि राखे से जन उबरे साचे साचि समाई हे ॥१॥
Saṯgur rākẖe se jan ubre sācẖe sācẖ samā▫ī he. ||1||
Those humble beings who are protected by the True Guru, are saved. They merge into the Truest of the True. ||1||
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
आपे करता करि करि वेखै ॥
Āpe karṯā kar kar vekẖai.
The Creator Himself creates the creation, and watches over it.
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
जिस नो नदरि करे सोई जनु लेखै ॥
Jis no naḏar kare so▫ī jan lekẖai.
They alone are acceptable, upon whom He bestows His Glance of Grace.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
गुरमुखि गिआनु तिसु सभु किछु सूझै अगिआनी अंधु कमाई हे ॥२॥
Gurmukẖ gi▫ān ṯis sabẖ kicẖẖ sūjẖai agi▫ānī anḏẖ kamā▫ī he. ||2||
The Gurmukh attains spiritual wisdom, and understands everything. The ignorant ones act blindly. ||2||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਹਸਾ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
मनमुख सहसा बूझ न पाई ॥
Manmukẖ sahsā būjẖ na pā▫ī.
The self-willed manmukh is cynical; he doesn't understand.
|
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
मरि मरि जमै जनमु गवाई ॥
Mar mar jammai janam gavā▫ī.
He dies and dies again, only to be reborn, and loses his life uselessly again.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
गुरमुखि नामि रते सुखु पाइआ सहजे साचि समाई हे ॥३॥
Gurmukẖ nām raṯe sukẖ pā▫i▫ā sėhje sācẖ samā▫ī he. ||3||
The Gurmukh is imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; he find peace, and is intuitively immersed in the True Lord. ||3||
|
ਧੰਧੈ ਧਾਵਤ ਮਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੂਰਾ ॥
धंधै धावत मनु भइआ मनूरा ॥
Ḏẖanḏẖai ḏẖāvaṯ man bẖa▫i▫ā manūrā.
Chasing after worldly affairs, the mind has become corroded and rusty.
|
ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
फिरि होवै कंचनु भेटै गुरु पूरा ॥
Fir hovai kancẖan bẖetai gur pūrā.
But meeting with the Perfect Guru, it is transmuted into gold once again.
|
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
आपे बखसि लए सुखु पाए पूरै सबदि मिलाई हे ॥४॥
Āpe bakẖas la▫e sukẖ pā▫e pūrai sabaḏ milā▫ī he. ||4||
When the Lord Himself grants forgiveness, then peace is obtained; through the Perfect Word of the Shabad, one is united with Him. ||4||
|
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਝੂਠੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਰਿ ॥
दुरमति झूठी बुरी बुरिआरि ॥
Ḏurmaṯ jẖūṯẖī burī buri▫ār.
The false and evil-minded are the most wicked of the wicked.
|
ਅਉਗਣਿਆਰੀ ਅਉਗਣਿਆਰਿ ॥
अउगणिआरी अउगणिआरि ॥
A▫ugaṇi▫ārī a▫ugaṇi▫ār.
They are the most unworthy of the unworthy.
|
ਕਚੀ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
कची मति फीका मुखि बोलै दुरमति नामु न पाई हे ॥५॥
Kacẖī maṯ fīkā mukẖ bolai ḏurmaṯ nām na pā▫ī he. ||5||
With false intellect, and insipid words of mouth, evil-minded, they do not obtain the Naam. ||5||

ਅਉਗਣਿਆਰੀ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
अउगणिआरी कंत न भावै ॥
A▫ugaṇi▫ārī kanṯ na bẖāvai.
The unworthy soul-bride is not pleasing to her Husband Lord.
|
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਜੂਠੀ ਜੂਠੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
मन की जूठी जूठु कमावै ॥
Man kī jūṯẖī jūṯẖ kamāvai.
False-minded, her actions are false.
|
ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਸਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੂਰਖਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
पिर का साउ न जाणै मूरखि बिनु गुर बूझ न पाई हे ॥६॥
Pir kā sā▫o na jāṇai mūrakẖ bin gur būjẖ na pā▫ī he. ||6||
The foolish person does not know the excellence of her Husband Lord. Without the Guru, she does not understand at all. ||6||
|
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਟੀ ਖੋਟੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
दुरमति खोटी खोटु कमावै ॥
Ḏurmaṯ kẖotī kẖot kamāvai.
The evil-minded, wicked soul-bride practices wickedness.
|
ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਰ ਖਸਮ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
सीगारु करे पिर खसम न भावै ॥
Sīgār kare pir kẖasam na bẖāvai.
She decorates herself, but her Husband Lord is not pleased.
|
ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
गुणवंती सदा पिरु रावै सतिगुरि मेलि मिलाई हे ॥७॥
Guṇvanṯī saḏā pir rāvai saṯgur mel milā▫ī he. ||7||
The virtuous soul-bride enjoys and ravishes her Husband Lord forever; the True Guru unites her in His Union. ||7||
|
ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
आपे हुकमु करे सभु वेखै ॥
Āpe hukam kare sabẖ vekẖai.
God Himself issues the Hukam of His Command, and beholds all.
|
ਇਕਨਾ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਧੁਰਿ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
इकना बखसि लए धुरि लेखै ॥
Iknā bakẖas la▫e ḏẖur lekẖai.
Some are forgiven, according to their pre-ordained destiny.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
अनदिनु नामि रते सचु पाइआ आपे मेलि मिलाई हे ॥८॥
An▫ḏin nām raṯe sacẖ pā▫i▫ā āpe mel milā▫ī he. ||8||
Night and day, they are imbued with the Naam, and they find the True Lord. He Himself unites them in His Union. ||8||
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਧਾਤੁ ਮੋਹ ਰਸਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
हउमै धातु मोह रसि लाई ॥
Ha▫umai ḏẖāṯ moh ras lā▫ī.
Egotism attaches them to the juice of emotional attachment, and makes them run around.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਿਵ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
गुरमुखि लिव साची सहजि समाई ॥
Gurmukẖ liv sācẖī sahj samā▫ī.
The Gurmukh is intuitively immersed in the True Love of the Lord.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੈ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
आपे मेलै आपे करि वेखै बिनु सतिगुर बूझ न पाई हे ॥९॥
Āpe melai āpe kar vekẖai bin saṯgur būjẖ na pā▫ī he. ||9||
He Himself unites, He Himself acts, and beholds. Without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained. ||9||
|
ਇਕਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
इकि सबदु वीचारि सदा जन जागे ॥
Ik sabaḏ vīcẖār saḏā jan jāge.
Some contemplate the Word of the Shabad; these humble beings remain always awake and aware.
|
ਇਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੇ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
इकि माइआ मोहि सोइ रहे अभागे ॥
Ik mā▫i▫ā mohi so▫e rahe abẖāge.
Some are attached to the love of Maya; these unfortunate ones remain asleep.
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
आपे करे कराए आपे होरु करणा किछू न जाई हे ॥१०॥
Āpe kare karā▫e āpe hor karṇā kicẖẖū na jā▫ī he. ||10||
He Himself acts, and inspires all to act; no one else can do anything. ||10||
|
ਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
कालु मारि गुर सबदि निवारे ॥
Kāl mār gur sabaḏ nivāre.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, death is conquered and killed.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
हरि का नामु रखै उर धारे ॥
Har kā nām rakẖai ur ḏẖāre.
Keep the Name of the Lord enshrined within your heart.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
सतिगुर सेवा ते सुखु पाइआ हरि कै नामि समाई हे ॥११॥
Saṯgur sevā ṯe sukẖ pā▫i▫ā har kai nām samā▫ī he. ||11||
Serving the True Guru, peace is obtained, and one merges in the Name of the Lord. ||11||
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਫਿਰੈ ਦੇਵਾਨੀ ॥
दूजै भाइ फिरै देवानी ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e firai ḏevānī.
In the love of duality, the world wanders around insane.
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
माइआ मोहि दुख माहि समानी ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mohi ḏukẖ māhi samānī.
Immersed in love and attachment to Maya, it suffers in pain.
|
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੈ ਨਹ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
बहुते भेख करै नह पाए बिनु सतिगुर सुखु न पाई हे ॥१२॥
Bahuṯe bẖekẖ karai nah pā▫e bin saṯgur sukẖ na pā▫ī he. ||12||
Wearing all sorts of religious robes, He is not obtained. Without the True Guru, peace is not found. ||12||
|
ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
किस नो कहीऐ जा आपि कराए ॥
Kis no kahī▫ai jā āp karā▫e.
Who is to blame, when He Himself does everything?
|
ਜਿਤੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਰਾਹਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
जितु भावै तितु राहि चलाए ॥
Jiṯ bẖāvai ṯiṯ rāhi cẖalā▫e.
As He wills, so is the path we take.
|
ਆਪੇ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
आपे मिहरवानु सुखदाता जिउ भावै तिवै चलाई हे ॥१३॥
Āpe miharvān sukẖ▫ḏāṯa ji▫o bẖāvai ṯivai cẖalā▫ī he. ||13||
He Himself is the Merciful Giver of peace; as He wills, so do we follow. ||13||
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ॥
आपे करता आपे भुगता ॥
Āpe karṯā āpe bẖugṯā.
He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer.
|
ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਆਪੇ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥
आपे संजमु आपे जुगता ॥
Āpe sanjam āpe jugṯā.
He Himself is detached, and He Himself is attached.
|
ਆਪੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
आपे निरमलु मिहरवानु मधुसूदनु जिस दा हुकमु न मेटिआ जाई हे ॥१४॥
Āpe nirmal miharvān maḏẖusūḏan jis ḏā hukam na meti▫ā jā▫ī he. ||14||
He Himself is immaculate, compassionate, the lover of nectar; the Hukam of His Command cannot be erased. ||14||
|
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
से वडभागी जिनी एको जाता ॥
Se vadbẖāgī jinī eko jāṯā.
Those who know the One Lord are very fortunate.
