ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥
सरब निरंजन पुरखु सुजाना ॥
Sarab niranjan purakẖ sujānā.
The Primal Lord is everywhere, immaculate and all-knowing.

ਅਦਲੁ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
अदलु करे गुर गिआन समाना ॥
Aḏal kare gur gi▫ān samānā.
He administers justice, and is absorbed in the spiritual wisdom of the Guru.

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੈ ਗਰਦਨਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
कामु क्रोधु लै गरदनि मारे हउमै लोभु चुकाइआ ॥६॥
Kām kroḏẖ lai garḏan māre ha▫umai lobẖ cẖukā▫i▫ā. ||6||
He seizes sexual desire and anger by their necks, and kills them; He eradicates egotism and greed. ||6||
|
ਸਚੈ ਥਾਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
सचै थानि वसै निरंकारा ॥
Sacẖai thān vasai nirankārā.
In the True Place, the Formless Lord abides.
|
ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
आपि पछाणै सबदु वीचारा ॥
Āp pacẖẖāṇai sabaḏ vīcẖārā.
Whoever understands his own self, contemplates the Word of the Shabad.

ਸਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
सचै महलि निवासु निरंतरि आवण जाणु चुकाइआ ॥७॥
Sacẖai mahal nivās niranṯar āvaṇ jāṇ cẖukā▫i▫ā. ||7||
He comes to abide deep within the True Mansion of His Presence, and his comings and goings are ended. ||7||
|
ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਚਲੈ ਨ ਪਉਣੁ ਉਡਾਵੈ ॥
ना मनु चलै न पउणु उडावै ॥
Nā man cẖalai na pa▫uṇ udāvai.
His mind does not waver, and he is not buffeted by the winds of desire.

ਜੋਗੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਨਾਹਦੁ ਵਾਵੈ ॥
जोगी सबदु अनाहदु वावै ॥
Jogī sabaḏ anāhaḏ vāvai.
Such a Yogi vibrates the unstruck sound current of the Shabad.

ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਵਾਇ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
पंच सबद झुणकारु निरालमु प्रभि आपे वाइ सुणाइआ ॥८॥
Pancẖ sabaḏ jẖuṇkār nirālam parabẖ āpe vā▫e suṇā▫i▫ā. ||8||
God Himself plays the pure music of the Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds to hear. ||8||
|
ਭਉ ਬੈਰਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਤਾ ॥
भउ बैरागा सहजि समाता ॥
Bẖa▫o bairāgā sahj samāṯā.
In the Fear of God, in detachment, one intuitively merges into the Lord.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਅਨਹਦਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
हउमै तिआगी अनहदि राता ॥
Ha▫umai ṯi▫āgī anhaḏ rāṯā.
Renouncing egotism, he is imbued with the unstruck sound current.
|
ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਾਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੯॥
अंजनु सारि निरंजनु जाणै सरब निरंजनु राइआ ॥९॥
Anjan sār niranjan jāṇai sarab niranjan rā▫i▫ā. ||9||
With the ointment of enlightenment, the Immaculate Lord is known; the Immaculate Lord King is pervading everywhere. ||9||
|
ਦੁਖ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
दुख भै भंजनु प्रभु अबिनासी ॥
Ḏukẖ bẖai bẖanjan parabẖ abẖināsī.
God is eternal and imperishable; He is the Destroyer of pain and fear.
|
ਰੋਗ ਕਟੇ ਕਾਟੀ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ॥
रोग कटे काटी जम फासी ॥
Rog kate kātī jam fāsī.
He cures the disease, and cuts away the noose of death.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥
नानक हरि प्रभु सो भउ भंजनु गुरि मिलिऐ हरि प्रभु पाइआ ॥१०॥
Nānak har parabẖ so bẖa▫o bẖanjan gur mili▫ai har parabẖ pā▫i▫ā. ||10||
O Nanak, the Lord God is the Destroyer of fear; meeting the Guru, the Lord God is found. ||10||
|
ਕਾਲੈ ਕਵਲੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
कालै कवलु निरंजनु जाणै ॥
Kālai kaval niranjan jāṇai.
One who knows the Immaculate Lord chews up death.
|
ਬੂਝੈ ਕਰਮੁ ਸੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
बूझै करमु सु सबदु पछाणै ॥
Būjẖai karam so sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇai.
One who understands karma, realizes the Word of the Shabad.
|
ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਚੋਜੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੧੧॥
आपे जाणै आपि पछाणै सभु तिस का चोजु सबाइआ ॥११॥
Āpe jāṇai āp pacẖẖāṇai sabẖ ṯis kā cẖoj sabā▫i▫ā. ||11||
He Himself knows, and He Himself realizes. This whole world is all His play. ||11||
|
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹੁ ਆਪੇ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ॥
आपे साहु आपे वणजारा ॥
Āpe sāhu āpe vaṇjārā.
He Himself is the Banker, and He Himself is the Merchant.
|
ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਪਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
आपे परखे परखणहारा ॥
Āpe parkẖe parkẖaṇhārā.
The Appraiser Himself appraises.
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਸਿ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੨॥
आपे कसि कसवटी लाए आपे कीमति पाइआ ॥१२॥
Āpe kas kasvatī lā▫e āpe kīmaṯ pā▫i▫ā. ||12||
He Himself tests upon His Touchstone, and He Himself estimates the value. ||12||
|
ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
आपि दइआलि दइआ प्रभि धारी ॥
Āp ḏa▫i▫āl ḏa▫i▫ā parabẖ ḏẖārī.
God Himself, the Merciful Lord, grants His Grace.
|
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
घटि घटि रवि रहिआ बनवारी ॥
Gẖat gẖat rav rahi▫ā banvārī.
The Gardener pervades and permeates each and every heart.
|
ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥
पुरखु अतीतु वसै निहकेवलु गुर पुरखै पुरखु मिलाइआ ॥१३॥
Purakẖ aṯīṯ vasai nihkeval gur purkẖai purakẖ milā▫i▫ā. ||13||
The pure, primal, detached Lord abides within all. The Guru, the Lord Incarnate, leads us to meet the Lord God. ||13||
|
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਗਰਬੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
प्रभु दाना बीना गरबु गवाए ॥
Parabẖ ḏānā bīnā garab gavā▫e.
God is wise and all-knowing; He purges men of their pride.
|
ਦੂਜਾ ਮੇਟੈ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
दूजा मेटै एकु दिखाए ॥
Ḏūjā metai ek ḏikẖā▫e.
Eradicating duality, the One Lord reveals Himself.
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
आसा माहि निरालमु जोनी अकुल निरंजनु गाइआ ॥१४॥
Āsā māhi nirālam jonī akul niranjan gā▫i▫ā. ||14||
Such a being remains unattached amidst hope, singing the Praise of the Immaculate Lord, who has no ancestry. ||14||
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਟਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
हउमै मेटि सबदि सुखु होई ॥
Ha▫umai met sabaḏ sukẖ ho▫ī.
Eradicating egotism, he obtains the peace of the Shabad.
|
ਆਪੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੋਈ ॥
आपु वीचारे गिआनी सोई ॥
Āp vīcẖāre gi▫ānī so▫ī.
He alone is spiritually wise, who contemplates his own self.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਲਾਹਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥੨॥੧੯॥
नानक हरि जसु हरि गुण लाहा सतसंगति सचु फलु पाइआ ॥१५॥२॥१९॥
Nānak har jas har guṇ lāhā saṯsangaṯ sacẖ fal pā▫i▫ā. ||15||2||19||
O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the true profit is obtained; in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the fruit of Truth is obtained. ||15||2||19||

ਸਚੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਸਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
सचु कहहु सचै घरि रहणा ॥
Sacẖ kahhu sacẖai gẖar rahṇā.
Speak the Truth, and remain in the home of Truth.
|
ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਜਗੁ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
जीवत मरहु भवजलु जगु तरणा ॥
Jīvaṯ marahu bẖavjal jag ṯarṇā.
Remain dead while yet alive, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਬੇੜੀ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
गुरु बोहिथु गुरु बेड़ी तुलहा मन हरि जपि पारि लंघाइआ ॥१॥
Gur bohith gur beṛī ṯulhā man har jap pār langẖā▫i▫ā. ||1||
The Guru is the boat, the ship, the raft; meditating on the Lord in your mind, you shall be carried across to the other side. ||1||
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਲੋਭ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ॥
हउमै ममता लोभ बिनासनु ॥
Ha▫umai mamṯā lobẖ bināsan.
Eliminating egotism, possessiveness and greed,
|
ਨਉ ਦਰ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਦਸਵੈ ਆਸਨੁ ॥
नउ दर मुकते दसवै आसनु ॥
Na▫o ḏar mukṯe ḏasvai āsan.
one is liberated from the nine gates, and obtains a place in the Tenth Gate.

ਊਪਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
ऊपरि परै परै अपर्मपरु जिनि आपे आपु उपाइआ ॥२॥
Ūpar parai parai aprampar jin āpe āp upā▫i▫ā. ||2||
Lofty and high, the farthest of the far and infinite, He created Himself. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਤਰੀਐ ॥
गुरमति लेवहु हरि लिव तरीऐ ॥
Gurmaṯ levhu har liv ṯarī▫ai.
Receiving the Guru's Teachings, and lovingly attuned to the Lord, one crosses over.

ਅਕਲੁ ਗਾਇ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਡਰੀਐ ॥
अकलु गाइ जम ते किआ डरीऐ ॥
Akal gā▫e jam ṯe ki▫ā darī▫ai.
Singing the Praises of the absolute Lord, why should anyone be afraid of death?
|
ਜਤ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
जत जत देखउ तत तत तुम ही अवरु न दुतीआ गाइआ ॥३॥
Jaṯ jaṯ ḏekẖ▫a▫u ṯaṯ ṯaṯ ṯum hī avar na ḏuṯī▫ā gā▫i▫ā. ||3||
Wherever I look, I see only You; I do not sing of any other at all. ||3||
|
ਸਚੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
सचु हरि नामु सचु है सरणा ॥
Sacẖ har nām sacẖ hai sarṇā.
True is the Lord's Name, and True is His Sanctuary.
|
ਸਚੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਿਤੈ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
सचु गुर सबदु जितै लगि तरणा ॥
Sacẖ gur sabaḏ jiṯai lag ṯarṇā.
True is the Word of the Guru's Shabad, grasping it, one is carries across.
|
ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥੈ ਦੇਖੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਜੋਨੀ ਜਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
अकथु कथै देखै अपर्मपरु फुनि गरभि न जोनी जाइआ ॥४॥
Akath kathai ḏekẖai aprampar fun garabẖ na jonī jā▫i▫ā. ||4||
Speaking the Unspoken, one sees the Infinite Lord, and then, he does not have to enter the womb of reincarnation again. ||4||
|
ਸਚ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
सच बिनु सतु संतोखु न पावै ॥
Sacẖ bin saṯ sanṯokẖ na pāvai.
Without the Truth, no one finds sincerity or contentment.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
बिनु गुर मुकति न आवै जावै ॥
Bin gur mukaṯ na āvai jāvai.
Without the Guru, no one is liberated; coming and going in reincarnation continue.

ਮੂਲ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
मूल मंत्रु हरि नामु रसाइणु कहु नानक पूरा पाइआ ॥५॥
Mūl manṯar har nām rasā▫iṇ kaho Nānak pūrā pā▫i▫ā. ||5||
Chanting the Mool Mantra, and the Name of the Lord, the source of nectar, says Nanak, I have found the Perfect Lord. ||5||
