ਜਗੁ ਪਰਬੋਧਹਿ ਮੜੀ ਬਧਾਵਹਿ ॥ जगु परबोधहि मड़ी बधावहि ॥ Jag parboḏẖėh maṛī baḏẖāvėh. You preach to the world, and set up your house. ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ रामकली महला १ ॥ Rāmkalī mėhlā 1. Raamkalee, First Mehl: ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੀ ॥ ममता मोहु कामणि हितकारी ॥ Mamṯā moh kāmaṇ hiṯkārī. You are attached to possessiveness and the love of sexual pleasure. ਨਾ ਅਉਧੂਤੀ ਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ना अउधूती ना संसारी ॥१॥ Nā a▫uḏẖūṯī nā sansārī. ||1|| You are not a renunciate, nor a man of the world. ||1|| ਆਸਣੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥ आसणु तिआगि काहे सचु पावहि ॥ Āsaṇ ṯi▫āg kāhe sacẖ pāvahi. Abandoning your Yogic postures, how will you find the True Lord? ਜੋਗੀ ਬੈਸਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ जोगी बैसि रहहु दुबिधा दुखु भागै ॥ Jogī bais rahhu ḏubiḏẖā ḏukẖ bẖāgai. Yogi, remain seated, and the pain of duality will run away from you. ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮਾਗਤ ਲਾਜ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ घरि घरि मागत लाज न लागै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gẖar gẖar māgaṯ lāj na lāgai. ||1|| rahā▫o. You beg from door to door, and you don't feel ashamed. ||1||Pause|| ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੀਤ ਨ ਚੀਨਹਿ ਆਪੁ ॥ गावहि गीत न चीनहि आपु ॥ Gāvahi gīṯ na cẖīnėh āp. You sing the songs, but you do not understand your own self. ਕਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਨਿਵਰੈ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥ किउ लागी निवरै परतापु ॥ Ki▫o lāgī nivrai parṯāp. How will the burning pain within be relieved? ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਚੈ ਮਨ ਭਾਇ ॥ गुर कै सबदि रचै मन भाइ ॥ Gur kai sabaḏ racẖai man bẖā▫e. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, let your mind be absorbed in the Lord's Love, ਭਿਖਿਆ ਸਹਜ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥ भिखिआ सहज वीचारी खाइ ॥२॥ Bẖikẖi▫ā sahj vīcẖārī kẖā▫e. ||2|| and you will intuitively experience the charity of contemplation. ||2|| ਭਸਮ ਚੜਾਇ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ॥ भसम चड़ाइ करहि पाखंडु ॥ Bẖasam cẖaṛā▫e karahi pakẖand. You apply ashes to your body, while acting in hypocrisy. ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਹਹਿ ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ॥ माइआ मोहि सहहि जम डंडु ॥ Mā▫i▫ā mohi sahėh jam dand. Attached to Maya, you will be beaten by Death's heavy club. ਫੂਟੈ ਖਾਪਰੁ ਭੀਖ ਨ ਭਾਇ ॥ फूटै खापरु भीख न भाइ ॥ Fūtai kẖāpar bẖīkẖ na bẖā▫e. Your begging bowl is broken; it will not hold the charity of the Lord's Love. ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਜਤੀ ਕਹਾਵਹਿ ॥ बिंदु न राखहि जती कहावहि ॥ Binḏ na rākẖahi jaṯī kahāvėh. You do not control your seed and semen, and yet you claim to practice abstinence. ਮਾਈ ਮਾਗਤ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਭਾਵਹਿ ॥ माई मागत त्रै लोभावहि ॥ Mā▫ī māgaṯ ṯarai lobẖāvėh. You beg from Maya, lured by the three qualities. ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬਾਧਿਆ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ बंधनि बाधिआ आवै जाइ ॥३॥ Banḏẖan bāḏẖi▫ā āvai jā▫e. ||3|| Bound in bondage, you come and go. ||3|| ਨਿਰਦਇਆ ਨਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਉਜਾਲਾ ॥ निरदइआ नही जोति उजाला ॥ Nirḏa▫i▫ā nahī joṯ ujālā. You have no compassion; the Lord's Light does not shine in you. ਬੂਡਤ ਬੂਡੇ ਸਰਬ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ॥੪॥ बूडत बूडे सरब जंजाला ॥४॥ Būdaṯ būde sarab janjālā. ||4|| You are drowned, drowned in worldly entanglements. ||4|| ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਬਹੁ ਥਟੂਆ ॥ भेख करहि खिंथा बहु थटूआ ॥ Bẖekẖ karahi kẖinthā baho thatū▫ā. You wear religious robes, and your patched coat assumes many disguises. ਝੂਠੋ ਖੇਲੁ ਖੇਲੈ ਬਹੁ ਨਟੂਆ ॥ झूठो खेलु खेलै बहु नटूआ ॥ Jẖūṯẖo kẖel kẖelai baho natū▫ā. You play all sorts of false tricks, like a juggler. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਬਹੁ ਜਾਰੇ ॥ अंतरि अगनि चिंता बहु जारे ॥ Anṯar agan cẖinṯā baho jāre. The fire of anxiety burns brightly within you. ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੫॥ विणु करमा कैसे उतरसि पारे ॥५॥ viṇ karmā kaise uṯras pāre. ||5|| Without the karma of good actions, how can you cross over? ||5|| ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਫਟਕ ਬਨਾਈ ਕਾਨਿ ॥ मुंद्रा फटक बनाई कानि ॥ Munḏrā fatak banā▫ī kān. You make ear-rings of glass to wear in your ears. ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਗਿਆਨਿ ॥ मुकति नही बिदिआ बिगिआनि ॥ Mukaṯ nahī biḏi▫ā bigi▫ān. But liberation does not come from learning without understanding. ਜਿਹਵਾ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਸਾਦਿ ਲੋੁਭਾਨਾ ॥ जिहवा इंद्री सादि लोभाना ॥ Jihvā inḏrī sāḏ lobẖānā. You are lured by the tastes of the tongue and sex organs. ਪਸੂ ਭਏ ਨਹੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਨੀਸਾਨਾ ॥੬॥ पसू भए नही मिटै नीसाना ॥६॥ Pasū bẖa▫e nahī mitai nīsānā. ||6|| You have become a beast; this sign cannot be erased. ||6|| ਊਜਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਸੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ऊजलु साचु सु सबदु होइ ॥ Ūjal sācẖ so sabaḏ ho▫e. Through the Shabad, one becomes radiant, pure and truthful. ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਲੋਗਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਜੋਗਾ ॥ त्रिबिधि लोगा त्रिबिधि जोगा ॥ Ŧaribaḏẖ logā ṯaribaḏẖ jogā. The people of the world are entangled in the three modes; the Yogis are entangled in the three modes. ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੈ ਚੂਕਸਿ ਸੋਗਾ ॥ सबदु वीचारै चूकसि सोगा ॥ Sabaḏ vīcẖārai cẖūkas sogā. Contemplating the Word of the Shabad, sorrows are dispelled. ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥ जोगी जुगति वीचारे सोइ ॥७॥ Jogī jugaṯ vīcẖāre so▫e. ||7|| One who contemplates the true lifestyle is a Yogi. ||7|| ਤੁਝ ਪਹਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਤੂ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ तुझ पहि नउ निधि तू करणै जोगु ॥ Ŧujẖ pėh na▫o niḏẖ ṯū karṇai jog. The nine treasures are with You, Lord; You are potent, the Cause of causes. ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥ थापि उथापे करे सु होगु ॥ Thāp uthāpe kare so hog. You establish and disestablish; whatever You do, happens. ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਚੀਤੁ ॥ जतु सतु संजमु सचु सुचीतु ॥ Jaṯ saṯ sanjam sacẖ sucẖīṯ. One who practices celibacy, chastity, self-control, truth and pure consciousness - ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਮੀਤੁ ॥੮॥੨॥ नानक जोगी त्रिभवण मीतु ॥८॥२॥ Nānak jogī ṯaribẖavaṇ mīṯ. ||8||2|| O Nanak, that Yogi is the friend of the three worlds. ||8||2||
