ਜਿਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਕਵਨੁ ਦਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਦਰਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਦਰੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਲਹੈ ॥ जितु दरि वसहि कवनु दरु कहीऐ दरा भीतरि दरु कवनु लहै ॥ Jiṫ ḋar vasėh kavan ḋar kahee▫æ ḋaraa bʰeeṫar ḋar kavan lahæ. Where is that door, where You live, O Lord? What is that door called? Among all doors, who can find that door? ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ रामकली महला १ ॥ Raamkalee mėhlaa 1. Raamkalee, First Mehl: ਜਿਸੁ ਦਰ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਫਿਰਾ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਸੋ ਦਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਆਇ ਕਹੈ ॥੧॥ जिसु दर कारणि फिरा उदासी सो दरु कोई आइ कहै ॥१॥ Jis ḋar kaaraṇ firaa uḋaasee so ḋar ko▫ee aa▫é kahæ. ||1|| For the sake of that door, I wander around sadly, detached from the world; if only someone would come and tell me about that door. ||1|| ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ॥ किन बिधि सागरु तरीऐ ॥ Kin biḋʰ saagar ṫaree▫æ. How can I cross over the world-ocean? ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਰੋਹੁ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਦੁਇ ਪਟ ਜੜੇ ॥ दुखु दरवाजा रोहु रखवाला आसा अंदेसा दुइ पट जड़े ॥ Ḋukʰ ḋarvaajaa rohu rakʰvaalaa aasaa anḋésaa ḋu▫é pat jaṛé. Pain is the door, and anger is the guard; hope and anxiety are the two shutters. ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਨਹ ਮਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जीवतिआ नह मरीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jeevṫi▫aa nah maree▫æ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. While I am living, I cannot be dead. ||1||Pause|| ਮਾਇਆ ਜਲੁ ਖਾਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਘਰੁ ਬਾਧਿਆ ਸਤ ਕੈ ਆਸਣਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਰਹੈ ॥੨॥ माइआ जलु खाई पाणी घरु बाधिआ सत कै आसणि पुरखु रहै ॥२॥ Maa▫i▫aa jal kʰaa▫ee paaṇee gʰar baaḋʰi▫aa saṫ kæ aasaṇ purakʰ rahæ. ||2|| Maya is the water in the moat; in the middle of this moat, he has built his home. The Primal Lord sits in the Seat of Truth. ||2|| ਕਿੰਤੇ ਨਾਮਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਤੁਮ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਹਰੇ ॥ किंते नामा अंतु न जाणिआ तुम सरि नाही अवरु हरे ॥ Kinṫé naamaa anṫ na jaaṇi▫aa ṫum sar naahee avar haré. You have so many Names, Lord, I do not know their limit. There is no other equal to You. ਊਚਾ ਨਹੀ ਕਹਣਾ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥ ऊचा नही कहणा मन महि रहणा आपे जाणै आपि करे ॥३॥ Oochaa nahee kahṇaa man mėh rahṇaa aapé jaaṇæ aap karé. ||3|| Do not speak out loud - remain in your mind. The Lord Himself knows, and He Himself acts. ||3|| ਜਬ ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਕਹੈ ॥ जब आसा अंदेसा तब ही किउ करि एकु कहै ॥ Jab aasaa anḋésaa ṫab hee ki▫o kar ék kahæ. As long as there is hope, there is anxiety; so how can anyone speak of the One Lord? ਆਸਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਤਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੪॥ आसा भीतरि रहै निरासा तउ नानक एकु मिलै ॥४॥ Aasaa bʰeeṫar rahæ niraasaa ṫa▫o Naanak ék milæ. ||4|| In the midst of hope, remain untouched by hope; then, O Nanak! You shall meet the One Lord. ||4|| ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ॥ इन बिधि सागरु तरीऐ ॥ In biḋʰ saagar ṫaree▫æ. In this way, you shall cross over the world-ocean. ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਇਉ ਮਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੩॥ जीवतिआ इउ मरीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥३॥ Jeevṫi▫aa i▫o maree▫æ. ||1|| rahaa▫o ḋoojaa. ||3|| This is the way to remain dead while still alive. ||1||Second Pause||3|| ਪਤੁ ਝੋਲੀ ਮੰਗਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੜੇ ॥੧॥ पतु झोली मंगण कै ताई भीखिआ नामु पड़े ॥१॥ Paṫ jʰolee mangaṇ kæ ṫaa▫ee bʰeekʰi▫aa naam paṛé. ||1|| Honor is my begging-bowl, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the charity I receive. ||1|| ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਾਖੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਬਾਜੈ ਲੋਕੁ ਸੁਣੇ ॥ सुरति सबदु साखी मेरी सिंङी बाजै लोकु सुणे ॥ Suraṫ sabaḋ saakʰee méree sińee baajæ lok suṇé. Awareness of the Shabad and the Teachings is my horn; the people hear the sound of its vibrations.
