ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ सतिगुरु सेवि सुखु पाइआ सचु नामु गुणतासु ॥ Saṯgur sev sukẖ pā▫i▫ā sacẖ nām guṇṯās. Serving the True Guru, peace is obtained. The True Name is the Treasure of Excellence. ਮਃ ੩ ॥ मः ३ ॥ Mėhlā 3. Third Mehl: ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਡੇ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ सचो सचु कमावणा वडिआई वडे पासि ॥ Sacẖo sacẖ kamāvaṇā vadi▫ā▫ī vade pās. The true ones practice Truth; greatness rests in the Great Lord. ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ गुरमती आपु पछाणिआ राम नाम परगासु ॥ Gurmaṯī āp pacẖẖāṇi▫ā rām nām pargās. Follow the Guru's Teachings, and recognize your own self; the Divine Light of the Lord's Name shall shine within. ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ जीउ पिंडु सभु तिस का सिफति करे अरदासि ॥ Jī▫o pind sabẖ ṯis kā sifaṯ kare arḏās. Body, soul and all things belong to the Lord-praise Him, and offer your prayers to Him. ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸੁਖੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ सचै सबदि सालाहणा सुखे सुखि निवासु ॥ Sacẖai sabaḏ salāhṇā sukẖe sukẖ nivās. Sing the Praises of the True Lord through the Word of His Shabad, and you shall abide in the peace of peace. ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਾਸੁ ॥ जपु तपु संजमु मनै माहि बिनु नावै ध्रिगु जीवासु ॥ Jap ṯap sanjam manai māhi bin nāvai ḏẖarig jīvās. You may practice chanting, penance and austere self-discipline within your mind, but without the Name, life is useless. ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ॥ गुरमती नाउ पाईऐ मनमुख मोहि विणासु ॥ Gurmaṯī nā▫o pā▫ī▫ai manmukẖ mohi viṇās. Through the Guru's Teachings, the Name is obtained, while the self-willed manmukh wastes away in emotional attachment. ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸੁ ॥੨॥ जिउ भावै तिउ राखु तूं नानकु तेरा दासु ॥२॥ Ji▫o bẖāvai ṯi▫o rākẖ ṯūʼn Nānak ṯerā ḏās. ||2|| Please protect me, by the Pleasure of Your Will. Nanak is Your slave. ||2||
