ਕੰਤਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਮਹੇਲੀਆ ਸੇਤੀ ਅਗਿ ਜਲਾਹਿ ॥ कंता नालि महेलीआ सेती अगि जलाहि ॥ Kanṫaa naal mahélee▫aa séṫee ag jalaahi. The widows burn themselves in the fire, along with their husbands’ corpses. ਮਃ ੩ ॥ मः ३ ॥ Mėhlaa 3. Third Mehl: ਨਾਨਕ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਸੇ ਕਿਉ ਅਗਿ ਜਲਾਹਿ ॥ नानक कंत न जाणनी से किउ अगि जलाहि ॥ Naanak kanṫ na jaaṇnee sé ki▫o ag jalaahi. O Nanak! If they did not truly know their husbands, why should they burn themselves in the fire? ਜੇ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਾ ਤਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥ जे जाणहि पिरु आपणा ता तनि दुख सहाहि ॥ Jé jaaṇėh pir aapṇaa ṫaa ṫan ḋukʰ sahaahi. If they truly knew their husbands, then they would suffer terrible bodily pain. If they truly knew their husbands, then they would suffer terrible bodily pain. ਭਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਉ ਕੈ ਮਰਉ ਦੂਰਹੁ ਹੀ ਭਜਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੩॥ भावै जीवउ कै मरउ दूरहु ही भजि जाहि ॥३॥ Bʰaavæ jeeva▫o kæ mara▫o ḋʰoorahu hee bʰaj jaahi. ||3|| Whether their husbands are alive or dead, those wives remain far away from them. ||3||
