ਮਨ ਕਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਅਫਾਰਾ ॥ मन कह अहंकारि अफारा ॥ Man kah ahaʼnkār afārā. O mind, why are you so puffed up with egotism? ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀ ੫ ॥ देवगंधारी ५ ॥ Ḏevganḏẖārī 5. Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mehl: ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪਰਾਨੀ ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਜਿਨਿ ਧਾਰਾ ॥ जिनि कीआ तिसु सिमरि परानी जीउ प्रान जिनि धारा ॥ Jin kī▫ā ṯis simar parānī jī▫o parān jin ḏẖārā. Remember the One who created you, O mortal; He is the Support of your soul, and the breath of life. ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਪਾਵਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਛਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ दुरगंध अपवित्र अपावन भीतरि जो दीसै सो छारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Ḏurganḏẖ apviṯar apāvan bẖīṯar jo ḏīsai so cẖẖārā. ||1|| rahā▫o. Whatever is seen in this foul, impure and filthy world, is only ashes. ||1||Pause|| ਤਿਸਹਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਅਵਰ ਲਪਟਾਵਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ तिसहि तिआगि अवर लपटावहि मरि जनमहि मुगध गवारा ॥१॥ Ŧisėh ṯi▫āg avar laptāvahi mar janmėh mugaḏẖ gavārā. ||1|| One who forsakes Him, and attaches himself to another, dies to be reborn; he is such an ignorant fool! ||1|| ਅੰਧ ਗੁੰਗ ਪਿੰਗੁਲ ਮਤਿ ਹੀਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ॥ अंध गुंग पिंगुल मति हीना प्रभ राखहु राखनहारा ॥ Anḏẖ gung pingul maṯ hīnā parabẖ rākẖo rākẖanhārā. I am blind, mute, crippled and totally lacking in understanding; O God, Preserver of all, please preserve me! ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੰਤ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੧੧॥ करन करावनहार समरथा किआ नानक जंत बिचारा ॥२॥११॥ Karan karāvanhār samrathā ki▫ā Nānak janṯ bicẖārā. ||2||11|| The Creator, the Cause of causes is all-powerful; O Nanak, how helpless are His beings! ||2||11||
