ਪੜਿ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਸੰਧਿਆ ਬਾਦੰ ॥ पड़ि पुसतक संधिआ बादं ॥ Paṛ pusṯak sanḏẖi▫ā bāḏaʼn. You read your books and say your prayers, and then engage in debate; ਸਿਲ ਪੂਜਸਿ ਬਗੁਲ ਸਮਾਧੰ ॥ सिल पूजसि बगुल समाधं ॥ Sil pūjas bagul samāḏẖaʼn. you worship stones and sit like a stork, pretending to be in Samaadhi. ਮੁਖਿ ਝੂਠ ਬਿਭੂਖਣ ਸਾਰੰ ॥ मुखि झूठ बिभूखण सारं ॥ Mukẖ jẖūṯẖ bibẖūkẖaṇ sāraʼn. With your mouth you utter falsehood, and you adorn yourself with precious decorations; ਤ੍ਰੈਪਾਲ ਤਿਹਾਲ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥ त्रैपाल तिहाल बिचारं ॥ Ŧaraipāl ṯihāl bicẖāraʼn. you recite the three lines of the Gayatri three times a day. ਮਃ ੧ ॥ मः १ ॥ Mėhlā 1. First Mehl: ਗਲਿ ਮਾਲਾ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਲਿਲਾਟੰ ॥ गलि माला तिलकु लिलाटं ॥ Gal mālā ṯilak lilātaʼn. Around your neck is a rosary, and on your forehead is a sacred mark; ਦੁਇ ਧੋਤੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਕਪਾਟੰ ॥ दुइ धोती बसत्र कपाटं ॥ Ḏu▫e ḏẖoṯī basṯar kapātaʼn. upon your head is a turban, and you wear two loin cloths. ਜੇ ਜਾਣਸਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰ ਕਰਮੰ ॥ जे जाणसि ब्रहमं करमं ॥ Je jāṇas barahmaʼn karmaʼn. If you knew the nature of God, ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥ कहु नानक निहचउ धिआवै ॥ Kaho Nānak nihcẖa▫o ḏẖi▫āvai. Says Nanak, meditate with deep faith; |
