ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਹ ਅਲਸਾਈਐ ॥ नामु जपत गोबिंद नह अलसाईऐ ॥ Nām japaṯ gobinḏ nah alsā▫ī▫ai. Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe; don't be lazy. ਛੰਤੁ ॥ छंतु ॥ Cẖẖanṯ. Chhant: ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਨਹ ਜਾਈਐ ॥ भेटत साधू संग जम पुरि नह जाईऐ ॥ Bẖetaṯ sāḏẖū sang jam pur nah jā▫ī▫ai. Meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall not have to go to the City of Death. ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਨ ਭਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਦ ਸੁਖੀ ॥ दूख दरद न भउ बिआपै नामु सिमरत सद सुखी ॥ Ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ na bẖa▫o bi▫āpai nām simraṯ saḏ sukẖī. Pain, trouble and fear will not afflict you; meditating on the Naam, a lasting peace is found. ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖੀ ॥ सासि सासि अराधि हरि हरि धिआइ सो प्रभु मनि मुखी ॥ Sās sās arāḏẖ har har ḏẖi▫ā▫e so parabẖ man mukẖī. With each and every breath, worship the Lord in adoration; meditate on the Lord God in your mind and with your mouth. ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਰਸਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ क्रिपाल दइआल रसाल गुण निधि करि दइआ सेवा लाईऐ ॥ Kirpāl ḏa▫i▫āl rasāl guṇ niḏẖ kar ḏa▫i▫ā sevā lā▫ī▫ai. O kind and compassionate Lord, O treasure of sublime essence, treasure of excellence, please link me to Your service. ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਣ ਜੰਪੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਹ ਅਲਸਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ नानकु पइअम्पै चरण ज्मपै नामु जपत गोबिंद नह अलसाईऐ ॥१॥ Nānak pa▫i▫ampai cẖaraṇ jampai nām japaṯ gobinḏ nah alsā▫ī▫ai. ||1|| Prays Nanak: may I meditate on the Lord's lotus feet, and not be lazy in chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe. ||1|| ਪਾਵਨ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ॥ पावन पतित पुनीत नाम निरंजना ॥ Pāvan paṯiṯ punīṯ nām niranjanā. The Purifier of sinners is the Naam, the Pure Name of the Immaculate Lord. ਭਰਮ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸ ਗਿਆਨ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਜਨਾ ॥ भरम अंधेर बिनास गिआन गुर अंजना ॥ Bẖaram anḏẖer binās gi▫ān gur anjnā. The darkness of doubt is removed by the healing ointment of the Guru's spiritual wisdom. ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ ॥ गुर गिआन अंजन प्रभ निरंजन जलि थलि महीअलि पूरिआ ॥ Gur gi▫ān anjan parabẖ niranjan jal thal mahī▫al pūri▫ā. By the healing ointment of the Guru's spiritual wisdom, one meets the Immaculate Lord God, who is totally pervading the water, the land and the sky. ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਵਿਸੂਰਿਆ ॥ इक निमख जा कै रिदै वसिआ मिटे तिसहि विसूरिआ ॥ Ik nimakẖ jā kai riḏai vasi▫ā mite ṯisėh visūri▫ā. If He dwells within the heart, for even an instant, sorrows are forgotten. ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧ ਸਮਰਥ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨਾ ॥ अगाधि बोध समरथ सुआमी सरब का भउ भंजना ॥ Agāḏẖ boḏẖ samrath su▫āmī sarab kā bẖa▫o bẖanjnā. The wisdom of the all-powerful Lord and Master is incomprehensible; He is the Destroyer of the fears of all. ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਣ ਜੰਪੈ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ॥੨॥ नानकु पइअम्पै चरण ज्मपै पावन पतित पुनीत नाम निरंजना ॥२॥ Nānak pa▫i▫ampai cẖaraṇ jampai pāvan paṯiṯ punīṯ nām niranjanā. ||2|| Prays Nanak, I meditate on the Lord's lotus feet. I have grasped the protection of the merciful Lord, the Sustainer of the Universe, the treasure of grace. ਮੋਹਿ ਆਸਰ ਤੁਅ ਚਰਨ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਿਧੇ ॥ मोहि आसर तुअ चरन तुमारी सरनि सिधे ॥ Mohi āsar ṯu▫a cẖaran ṯumārī saran siḏẖe. I take the support of Your lotus feet, and in the protection of Your Sanctuary, I attain perfection. ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥ हरि चरन कारन करन सुआमी पतित उधरन हरि हरे ॥ Har cẖaran kāran karan su▫āmī paṯiṯ uḏẖran har hare. The Lord's lotus feet are the cause of causes; the Lord Master saves even the sinners. ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਭਵ ਉਤਾਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਬਹੁ ਤਰੇ ॥ सागर संसार भव उतार नामु सिमरत बहु तरे ॥ Sāgar sansār bẖav uṯār nām simraṯ baho ṯare. So many are saved; they cross over the terrifying world-ocean, contemplating the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਉਧਰਨ ਸੰਤਸੰਗ ਬਿਧੇ ॥ आदि अंति बेअंत खोजहि सुनी उधरन संतसंग बिधे ॥ Āḏ anṯ be▫anṯ kẖojėh sunī uḏẖran saṯsang biḏẖe. In the beginning and in the end, countless are those who seek the Lord. I have heard that the Society of the Saints is the way to salvation. ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਨ ਜੰਪੈ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧੇ ॥੩॥ नानकु पइअम्पै चरन ज्मपै ओट गही गोपाल दइआल क्रिपा निधे ॥३॥ Nānak pa▫i▫ampai cẖaran jampai ot gahī gopāl ḏa▫i▫āl kirpā niḏẖe. ||3|| Prays Nanak, I meditate on the Lord's lotus feet, and grasp the protection of the Lord of the Universe, the merciful, the ocean of kindness. ||3|| ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਇਆ ॥ भगति वछलु हरि बिरदु आपि बनाइआ ॥ Bẖagaṯ vacẖẖal har biraḏ āp banā▫i▫ā. The Lord is the Lover of His devotees; this is His natural way. ਜਹ ਜਹ ਸੰਤ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥ जह जह संत अराधहि तह तह प्रगटाइआ ॥ Jah jah sanṯ arāḏẖėh ṯah ṯah paragtā▫i▫ā. Wherever the Saints worship the Lord in adoration, there He is revealed. ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਸਮਾਇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਭਗਤ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ प्रभि आपि लीए समाइ सहजि सुभाइ भगत कारज सारिआ ॥ Parabẖ āp lī▫e samā▫e sahj subẖā▫e bẖagaṯ kāraj sāri▫ā. God blends Himself with His devotees in His natural way, and resolves their affairs. ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਮਹਾ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਰਬ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ आनंद हरि जस महा मंगल सरब दूख विसारिआ ॥ Ānanḏ har jas mahā mangal sarab ḏūkẖ visāri▫ā. In the ecstasy of the Lord's Praises, they obtain supreme joy, and forget all their sorrows. ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਏਕੁ ਤਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥ चमतकार प्रगासु दह दिस एकु तह द्रिसटाइआ ॥ Cẖamaṯkār pargās ḏah ḏis ek ṯah ḏaristā▫i▫ā. The brilliant flash of the One Lord is revealed to them - they behold Him in the ten directions. ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਚਰਣ ਜੰਪੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥ नानकु पइअम्पै चरण ज्मपै भगति वछलु हरि बिरदु आपि बनाइआ ॥४॥३॥६॥ Nānak pa▫i▫ampai cẖaraṇ jampai bẖagaṯ vacẖẖal har biraḏ āp banā▫i▫ā. ||4||3||6|| Prays Nanak, I meditate on the Lord's lotus feet; the Lord is the Lover of His devotees; this is His natural way. ||4||3||6||
