ਸਭ ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ ਲੋਚਦੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥ सभ नावै नो लोचदी जिसु क्रिपा करे सो पाए ॥ Sabʰ naavæ no lochḋee jis kirpaa karé so paa▫é. Everyone longs for the Name, but he alone receives it, unto whom the Lord shows His Mercy. ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ आसा महला ३ ॥ Aasaa mėhlaa 3. Aasaa, Third Mehl: ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ तूं बेअंतु दइआलु है तेरी सरणाई ॥ Ṫooⁿ bé▫anṫ ḋa▫i▫aal hæ ṫéree sarṇaa▫ee. You are infinite and merciful; I seek Your Sanctuary. ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੧॥ बिनु नावै सभु दुखु है सुखु तिसु जिसु मंनि वसाए ॥१॥ Bin naavæ sabʰ ḋukʰ hæ sukʰ ṫis jis man vasaa▫é. ||1|| Without the Name, there is only pain; he alone obtains peace, whose mind is filled with the Name. ||1|| ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुर पूरे ते पाईऐ नामे वडिआई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gur pooré ṫé paa▫ee▫æ naamé vadi▫aa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o. From the Perfect Guru, the glorious greatness of the Naam is obtained. ||1||Pause|| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥ अंतरि बाहरि एकु है बहु बिधि स्रिसटि उपाई ॥ Anṫar baahar ék hæ baho biḋʰ sarisat upaa▫ee. Inwardly and outwardly, there is only the One Lord. He has created the world, with its many varieties. ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਿਸੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥੨॥ हुकमे कार कराइदा दूजा किसु कहीऐ भाई ॥२॥ Hukmé kaar karaa▫iḋaa ḋoojaa kis kahee▫æ bʰaa▫ee. ||2|| According to the Order of His Will, He makes us act. What else can we talk about, O Siblings of Destiny? ||2|| ਬੁਝਣਾ ਅਬੁਝਣਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਕੀਆ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ॥ बुझणा अबुझणा तुधु कीआ इह तेरी सिरि कार ॥ Bujʰ▫ṇaa abujʰ▫ṇaa ṫuḋʰ kee▫aa ih ṫéree sir kaar. Knowledge and ignorance are all your making; You have control over these. ਇਕਨੑਾ ਬਖਸਿਹਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ॥੩॥ इकन्हा बखसिहि मेलि लैहि इकि दरगह मारि कढे कूड़िआर ॥३॥ Iknĥaa bakʰsihi mél læhi ik ḋargėh maar kadʰé kooṛi▫aar. ||3|| Some, You forgive, and unite with Yourself; while others, the wicked, you strike down and drive out of Your Court. ||3|| ਇਕਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਵਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਹਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਾਏ ॥ इकि धुरि पवित पावन हहि तुधु नामे लाए ॥ Ik ḋʰur paviṫ paavan hėh ṫuḋʰ naamé laa▫é. Some, from the very beginning, are pure and pious; You attach them to Your Name. ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੪॥ गुर सेवा ते सुखु ऊपजै सचै सबदि बुझाए ॥४॥ Gur sévaa ṫé sukʰ oopjæ sachæ sabaḋ bujʰaa▫é. ||4|| Serving the Guru, peace wells up; through the True Word of the Shabad, one comes to understand. ||4|| ਇਕਿ ਕੁਚਲ ਕੁਚੀਲ ਵਿਖਲੀ ਪਤੇ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਏ ॥ इकि कुचल कुचील विखली पते नावहु आपि खुआए ॥ Ik kuchal kucheel vikʰlee paṫé naavhu aap kʰu▫aa▫é. Some are crooked, filthy and vicious; the Lord Himself has led them astray from the Name. ਨਾ ਓਨ ਸਿਧਿ ਨ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੈ ਨ ਸੰਜਮੀ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਉਤਵਤਾਏ ॥੫॥ ना ओन सिधि न बुधि है न संजमी फिरहि उतवताए ॥५॥ Naa on siḋʰ na buḋʰ hæ na sanjmee firėh uṫvaṫaa▫é. ||5|| They have no intuition, no understanding and no self-discipline; they wander around delirious. ||5|| ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਲਾਏ ॥ नदरि करे जिसु आपणी तिस नो भावनी लाए ॥ Naḋar karé jis aapṇee ṫis no bʰaavnee laa▫é. He grants faith to those whom He has blessed with His Glance of Grace. ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਇਹ ਸੰਜਮੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥੬॥ सतु संतोखु इह संजमी मनु निरमलु सबदु सुणाए ॥६॥ Saṫ sanṫokʰ ih sanjmee man nirmal sabaḋ suṇaa▫é. ||6|| This mind finds truth, contentment and self-discipline, hearing the Immaculate Word of the Shabad. ||6|| ਲੇਖਾ ਪੜਿ ਨ ਪਹੂਚੀਐ ਕਥਿ ਕਹਣੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ लेखा पड़ि न पहूचीऐ कथि कहणै अंतु न पाइ ॥ Lékʰaa paṛ na pahoochee▫æ kaṫʰ kahṇæ anṫ na paa▫é. By reading books, one cannot reach Him; by speaking and talking, His limits cannot be found. ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੭॥ गुर ते कीमति पाईऐ सचि सबदि सोझी पाइ ॥७॥ Gur ṫé keemaṫ paa▫ee▫æ sach sabaḋ sojʰee paa▫é. ||7|| Through the Guru, His value is found; through the True Word of the Shabad, understanding is obtained. ||7|| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਸੋਧਿ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ इहु मनु देही सोधि तूं गुर सबदि वीचारि ॥ Ih man ḋéhee soḋʰ ṫooⁿ gur sabaḋ veechaar. So, reform this mind and body, by contemplating the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥੮॥੧੦॥੩੨॥ नानक इसु देही विचि नामु निधानु है पाईऐ गुर कै हेति अपारि ॥८॥१०॥३२॥ Naanak is ḋéhee vich naam niḋʰaan hæ paa▫ee▫æ gur kæ héṫ apaar. ||8||10||32|| O Nanak! Within this body is the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; it is found through the Love of the Infinite Guru. ||8||10||32||
