ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਨੰਗਾ ਭੁਖਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਫਰੁ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਰਜਿ ਖਾਏ ॥ साहिबु जिस का नंगा भुखा होवै तिस दा नफरु किथहु रजि खाए ॥ Saahib jis kaa nangaa bʰukʰaa hovæ ṫis ḋaa nafar kiṫʰhu raj kʰaa▫é. One who has a poor beggar for a master - how can he be well-fed? ਮਃ ੪ ॥ मः ४ ॥ Mėhlaa 4. Fourth Mehl: ਜਿ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਥੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਨਫਰੈ ਹਥਿ ਆਵੈ ਅਣਹੋਦੀ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ जि साहिब कै घरि वथु होवै सु नफरै हथि आवै अणहोदी किथहु पाए ॥ Jė saahib kæ gʰar vaṫʰ hovæ so nafræ haṫʰ aavæ aṇhoḋee kiṫʰhu paa▫é. If there is something in his master’s house, he can get it; but how can he get what is not there? ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਸਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਉਖੀ ਹੋਈ ॥ जिस दी सेवा कीती फिरि लेखा मंगीऐ सा सेवा अउखी होई ॥ Jis ḋee sévaa keeṫee fir lékʰaa mangee▫æ saa sévaa a▫ukʰee ho▫ee. Serving him, who will be called to answer for his account? That service is painful and useless. ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥ नानक सेवा करहु हरि गुर सफल दरसन की फिरि लेखा मंगै न कोई ॥२॥ Naanak sévaa karahu har gur safal ḋarsan kee fir lékʰaa mangæ na ko▫ee. ||2|| O Nanak! Serve the Guru, the Lord Incarnate; the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is profitable, and in the end, you shall not be called to account. ||2||
