ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ५ ॥ Ga▫oṛee gu▫aaréree mėhlaa 5. Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl: ਮਨੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਜੀ ਬਾਰਿ ॥ मनु मंदरु तनु साजी बारि ॥ Man manḋar ṫan saajee baar. The mind is the temple, and the body is the fence built around it. ਇਸ ਹੀ ਮਧੇ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ इस ही मधे बसतु अपार ॥ Is hee maḋʰé basaṫ apaar. The infinite substance is within it. ਇਸ ਹੀ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸੁਨੀਅਤ ਸਾਹੁ ॥ इस ही भीतरि सुनीअत साहु ॥ Is hee bʰeeṫar sunee▫aṫ saahu. Within it, the great merchant is said to dwell. ਕਵਨੁ ਬਾਪਾਰੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਊਹਾ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ कवनु बापारी जा का ऊहा विसाहु ॥१॥ Kavan baapaaree jaa kaa oohaa visaahu. ||1|| Who is the trader who deals there? ||1|| ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨ ਕੋ ਕੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੀ ॥ नाम रतन को को बिउहारी ॥ Naam raṫan ko ko bi▫uhaaree. How rare is that trader who deals in the jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਆਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ अमृत भोजनु करे आहारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Amriṫ bʰojan karé aahaaree. ||1|| rahaa▫o. He takes the Ambrosial Nectar as his food. ||1||Pause|| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ मनु तनु अरपी सेव करीजै ॥ Man ṫan arpee sév kareejæ. He dedicates his mind and body to serving the Lord. ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਭੀਜੈ ॥ कवन सु जुगति जितु करि भीजै ॥ Kavan so jugaṫ jiṫ kar bʰeejæ. How can we please the Lord? ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਤਜਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰੈ ॥ पाइ लगउ तजि मेरा तेरै ॥ Paa▫é laga▫o ṫaj méraa ṫéræ. I fall at His Feet, and I renounce all sense of ’mine and yours’. ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਜਨੁ ਜੋ ਸਉਦਾ ਜੋਰੈ ॥੨॥ कवनु सु जनु जो सउदा जोरै ॥२॥ Kavan so jan jo sa▫uḋaa joræ. ||2|| Who can settle this bargain? ||2|| ਮਹਲੁ ਸਾਹ ਕਾ ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ महलु साह का किन बिधि पावै ॥ Mahal saah kaa kin biḋʰ paavæ. How can I attain the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence? ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ॥ कवन सु बिधि जितु भीतरि बुलावै ॥ Kavan so biḋʰ jiṫ bʰeeṫar bulaavæ. How can I get Him to call me inside? ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਸਾਹੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੋਟਿ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ॥ तूं वड साहु जा के कोटि वणजारे ॥ Ṫooⁿ vad saahu jaa ké kot vaṇjaaré. You are the Great Merchant; You have millions of traders. ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਲੇ ਸੰਚਾਰੇ ॥੩॥ कवनु सु दाता ले संचारे ॥३॥ Kavan so ḋaaṫaa lé sanchaaré. ||3|| Who is the benefactor? Who can take me to Him? ||3|| ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਨਿਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ खोजत खोजत निज घरु पाइआ ॥ Kʰojaṫ kʰojaṫ nij gʰar paa▫i▫aa. Seeking and searching, I have found my own home, deep within my own being. ਅਮੋਲ ਰਤਨੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ॥ अमोल रतनु साचु दिखलाइआ ॥ Amol raṫan saach ḋikʰlaa▫i▫aa. The True Lord has shown me the priceless jewel. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਬ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਾਹਿ ॥ करि किरपा जब मेले साहि ॥ Kar kirpaa jab mélé saahi. When the Great Merchant shows His Mercy, He blends us into Himself. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਵੇਸਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੮੫॥ कहु नानक गुर कै वेसाहि ॥४॥१६॥८५॥ Kaho Naanak gur kæ vésaahi. ||4||16||85|| Says Nanak, place your faith in the Guru. ||4||16||85||
