ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ सलोकु मः १ ॥ Salok mėhlaa 1. Shalok, First Mehl: ਜਾ ਪਕਾ ਤਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਰਹੀ ਸੁ ਪਲਰਿ ਵਾੜਿ ॥ जा पका ता कटिआ रही सु पलरि वाड़ि ॥ Jaa pakaa ṫaa kati▫aa rahee so palar vaaṛ. When the crop is ripe, then it is cut down; only the stalks are left standing. ਸਣੁ ਕੀਸਾਰਾ ਚਿਥਿਆ ਕਣੁ ਲਇਆ ਤਨੁ ਝਾੜਿ ॥ सणु कीसारा चिथिआ कणु लइआ तनु झाड़ि ॥ Saṇ keesaaraa chiṫʰi▫aa kaṇ la▫i▫aa ṫan jʰaaṛ. The corn on the cob is put into the thresher, and the kernels are separated from the cobs. ਦੁਇ ਪੁੜ ਚਕੀ ਜੋੜਿ ਕੈ ਪੀਸਣ ਆਇ ਬਹਿਠੁ ॥ दुइ पुड़ चकी जोड़ि कै पीसण आइ बहिठु ॥ Ḋu▫é puṛ chakee joṛ kæ peesaṇ aa▫é bahitʰ. Placing the kernels between the two mill-stones, people sit and grind the corn. ਜੋ ਦਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਸੁ ਉਬਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਜਬੁ ਡਿਠੁ ॥੧॥ जो दरि रहे सु उबरे नानक अजबु डिठु ॥१॥ Jo ḋar rahé so ubré Naanak ajab ditʰ. ||1|| Those kernels which stick to the central axle are spared-Nanak has seen this wonderful vision! ||1||
