One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਬਉਰੀ ਮਨੁ ਬਉਰਾਇਆ ॥ दुबिधा बउरी मनु बउराइआ ॥ Ḏubiḏẖā ba▫urī man ba▫urā▫i▫ā. The insanity of duality has driven the mind insane. ਝੂਠੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ झूठै लालचि जनमु गवाइआ ॥ Jẖūṯẖai lālacẖ janam gavā▫i▫ā. In false greed, life is wasting away. ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ लपटि रही फुनि बंधु न पाइआ ॥ Lapat rahī fun banḏẖ na pā▫i▫ā. Duality clings to the mind; it cannot be restrained. ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ सतिगुरि राखे नामु द्रिड़ाइआ ॥१॥ Saṯgur rākẖe nām driṛ▫ā▫i▫ā. ||1|| The True Guru saves us, implanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord within. ||1|| ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਰੈ ॥ ना मनु मरै न माइआ मरै ॥ Nā man marai na mā▫i▫ā marai. Without subduing the mind, Maya cannot be subdued. ਜਿਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਭਉ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जिनि किछु कीआ सोई जाणै सबदु वीचारि भउ सागरु तरै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jin kicẖẖ kī▫ā so▫ī jāṇai sabaḏ vīcẖār bẖa▫o sāgar ṯarai. ||1|| rahā▫o. The One who created this, He alone understands. Contemplating the Word of the Shabad, one is carried across the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause|| ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਚਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ माइआ संचि राजे अहंकारी ॥ Mā▫i▫ā sancẖ rāje ahaʼnkārī. Gathering the wealth of Maya, kings become proud and arrogant. ਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥ माइआ साथि न चलै पिआरी ॥ Mā▫i▫ā sāth na cẖalai pi▫ārī. But this Maya that they love so much shall not go along with them in the end. ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ॥ माइआ ममता है बहु रंगी ॥ Mā▫i▫ā mamṯā hai baho rangī. There are so many colors and flavors of attachment to Maya. ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਸੰਗੀ ॥੨॥ बिनु नावै को साथि न संगी ॥२॥ Bin nāvai ko sāth na sangī. ||2|| Except for the Name, no one has any friend or companion. ||2|| ਜਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਪਰ ਮਨੁ ਤੈਸਾ ॥ जिउ मनु देखहि पर मनु तैसा ॥ Ji▫o man ḏekẖėh par man ṯaisā. According to one's own mind, one sees the minds of others. ਜੈਸੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਤੈਸੀ ਦਸਾ ॥ जैसी मनसा तैसी दसा ॥ Jaisī mansā ṯaisī ḏasā. According to one's desires, one's condition is determined. ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਤੈਸੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ जैसा करमु तैसी लिव लावै ॥ Jaisā karam ṯaisī liv lāvai. According to one's actions, one is focused and tuned in. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਛਿ ਸਹਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ सतिगुरु पूछि सहज घरु पावै ॥३॥ Saṯgur pūcẖẖ sahj gẖar pāvai. ||3|| Seeking the advice of the True Guru, one finds the home of peace and poise. ||3|| ਰਾਗਿ ਨਾਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ रागि नादि मनु दूजै भाइ ॥ Rāg nāḏ man ḏūjai bẖā▫e. In music and song, the mind is caught by the love of duality. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥ अंतरि कपटु महा दुखु पाइ ॥ Anṯar kapat mahā ḏukẖ pā▫e. Filled with deception deep within, one suffers in terrible pain. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥ सतिगुरु भेटै सोझी पाइ ॥ Saṯgur bẖetai sojẖī pā▫e. Meeting with the True Guru, one is blessed with clear understanding, ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥ सचै नामि रहै लिव लाइ ॥४॥ Sacẖai nām rahai liv lā▫e. ||4|| and remains lovingly attuned to the True Name. ||4|| ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ सचै सबदि सचु कमावै ॥ Sacẖai sabaḏ sacẖ kamāvai. Through the True Word of the Shabad, one practices Truth. ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ सची बाणी हरि गुण गावै ॥ Sacẖī baṇī har guṇ gāvai. He sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, through the True Word of His Bani. ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਅਮਰ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ निज घरि वासु अमर पदु पावै ॥ Nij gẖar vās amar paḏ pāvai. He dwells in the home of his own heart deep within, and obtains the immortal status. ਤਾ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੫॥ ता दरि साचै सोभा पावै ॥५॥ Ŧā ḏar sācẖai sobẖā pāvai. ||5|| Then, he is blessed with honor in the Court of the True Lord. ||5|| ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ गुर सेवा बिनु भगति न होई ॥ Gur sevā bin bẖagaṯ na ho▫ī. Without serving the Guru, there is no devotional worship, ਅਨੇਕ ਜਤਨ ਕਰੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ॥ अनेक जतन करै जे कोई ॥ Anek jaṯan karai je ko▫ī. even though one may make all sorts of efforts. ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਬਦੇ ਖੋਈ ॥ हउमै मेरा सबदे खोई ॥ Ha▫umai merā sabḏe kẖo▫ī. If one eradicates egotism and selfishness through the Shabad, ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਈ ॥੬॥ निरमल नामु वसै मनि सोई ॥६॥ Nirmal nām vasai man so▫ī. ||6|| the Immaculate Naam comes to abide in the mind. ||6|| ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ इसु जग महि सबदु करणी है सारु ॥ Is jag mėh sabaḏ karṇī hai sār. In this world, the practice of the Shabad is the most excellent occupation. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥ बिनु सबदै होरु मोहु गुबारु ॥ Bin sabḏai hor moh gubār. Without the Shabad, everything else is the darkness of emotional attachment. ਸਬਦੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ सबदे नामु रखै उरि धारि ॥ Sabḏe nām rakẖai ur ḏẖār. Through the Shabad, the Naam is enshrined within the heart. ਸਬਦੇ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੭॥ सबदे गति मति मोख दुआरु ॥७॥ Sabḏe gaṯ maṯ mokẖ ḏu▫ār. ||7|| Through the Shabad, one obtains clear understanding and the door of salvation. ||7|| ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਣਹਾਰੋ ॥ अवरु नाही करि देखणहारो ॥ Avar nāhī kar ḏekẖaṇhāro. There is no other Creator except the All-seeing Lord God. ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥ साचा आपि अनूपु अपारो ॥ Sācẖā āp anūp apāro. The True Lord Himself is Infinite and Incomparably Beautiful. ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਊਤਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ राम नाम ऊतम गति होई ॥ Rām nām ūṯam gaṯ ho▫ī. Through the Lord's Name, one obtains the most sublime and exalted state. ਨਾਨਕ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਈ ॥੮॥੧॥ नानक खोजि लहै जनु कोई ॥८॥१॥ Nānak kẖoj lahai jan ko▫ī. ||8||1|| O Nanak, how rare are those humble beings, who seek and find the Lord. ||8||1||
