ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਸੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਵੁਠੈ ਧਰਣਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ गुरि मिलिऐ मनु रहसीऐ जिउ वुठै धरणि सीगारु ॥ Gur mili▫ai man rėhsī▫ai ji▫o vuṯẖai ḏẖaraṇ sīgār. Meeting with the Guru, the mind is delighted, like the earth embellished by the rain. ਸਭ ਦਿਸੈ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਸਰ ਭਰੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਤਾਲ ॥ सभ दिसै हरीआवली सर भरे सुभर ताल ॥ Sabẖ ḏisai harī▫āvalī sar bẖare subẖar ṯāl. Everything becomes green and lush; the pools and ponds are filled to overflowing. ਸਲੋਕ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ सलोक महला ३ ॥ Salok mėhlā 3. Shalok, Third Mehl: ਅੰਦਰੁ ਰਚੈ ਸਚ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਿਉ ਮੰਜੀਠੈ ਲਾਲੁ ॥ अंदरु रचै सच रंगि जिउ मंजीठै लालु ॥ Anḏar racẖai sacẖ rang ji▫o manjīṯẖai lāl. The inner self is imbued with the deep crimson color of love for the True Lord. ਕਮਲੁ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥ कमलु विगसै सचु मनि गुर कै सबदि निहालु ॥ Kamal vigsai sacẖ man gur kai sabaḏ nihāl. The heart-lotus blossoms forth and the mind becomes true; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is ecstatic and exalted. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੂਜੀ ਤਰਫ ਹੈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥ मनमुख दूजी तरफ है वेखहु नदरि निहालि ॥ Manmukẖ ḏūjī ṯaraf hai vekẖhu naḏar nihāl. The self-willed manmukh is on the wrong side. You can see this with your own eyes. ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੇ ਮਿਰਗ ਜਿਉ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ॥ फाही फाथे मिरग जिउ सिरि दीसै जमकालु ॥ Fāhī fāthe mirag ji▫o sir ḏīsai jamkāl. He is caught in the trap like the deer; the Messenger of Death hovers over his head. ਖੁਧਿਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬੁਰੀ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਵਿਕਰਾਲੁ ॥ खुधिआ त्रिसना निंदा बुरी कामु क्रोधु विकरालु ॥ Kẖuḏẖi▫ā ṯarisnā ninḏā burī kām kroḏẖ vikrāl. Hunger, thirst and slander are evil; sexual desire and anger are horrible. ਏਨੀ ਅਖੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ एनी अखी नदरि न आवई जिचरु सबदि न करे बीचारु ॥ Ėnī akẖī naḏar na āvī jicẖar sabaḏ na kare bīcẖār. These cannot be seen with your eyes, until you contemplate the Word of the Shabad. ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆਂ ਚੂਕੈ ਆਲ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ॥ तुधु भावै संतोखीआं चूकै आल जंजालु ॥ Ŧuḏẖ bẖāvai sanṯokẖī▫āʼn cẖūkai āl janjāl. Whoever is pleasing to You is content; all his entanglements are gone. ਮੂਲੁ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਗੁਰ ਪਉੜੀ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ॥ मूलु रहै गुरु सेविऐ गुर पउड़ी बोहिथु ॥ Mūl rahai gur sevi▫ai gur pa▫oṛī bohith. Serving the Guru, his capital is preserved. The Guru is the ladder and the boat. ਨਾਨਕ ਲਗੀ ਤਤੁ ਲੈ ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥ नानक लगी ततु लै तूं सचा मनि सचु ॥१॥ Nānak lagī ṯaṯ lai ṯūʼn sacẖā man sacẖ. ||1|| O Nanak, whoever is attached to the Lord receives the essence; O True Lord, You are found when the mind is true. ||1|| ਰੂੜਉ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਚਉ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥ रूड़उ ठाकुरु नानका सभि सुख साचउ नामु ॥२॥ Rūṛa▫o ṯẖākur nānkā sabẖ sukẖ sācẖa▫o nām. ||2|| Our Lord and Master is so beautiful, O Nanak; all comfort and peace are in the Name of the True Lord. ||2|| ਹੇਕੋ ਪਾਧਰੁ ਹੇਕੁ ਦਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਉੜੀ ਨਿਜ ਥਾਨੁ ॥ हेको पाधरु हेकु दरु गुर पउड़ी निज थानु ॥ Heko pāḏẖar hek ḏar gur pa▫oṛī nij thān. There is one path and one door. The Guru is the ladder to reach one's own place.
