ਕੰਚਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਦਤ ਕਰਾ ॥ कंचना बहु दत करा ॥ Kancẖnā baho ḏaṯ karā. You may make donations of gold, ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ सारग महला ५ ॥ Sārag mėhlā 5. Saarang, Fifth Mehl: ਭੂਮਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਾ ॥ भूमि दानु अरपि धरा ॥ Bẖūm ḏān arap ḏẖarā. and give away land in charity ਮਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਸੋਚ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਤ ॥ मन अनिक सोच पवित्र करत ॥ Man anik socẖ paviṯar karaṯ. and purify your mind in various ways, ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਮਨ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ नाही रे नाम तुलि मन चरन कमल लागे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Nāhī re nām ṯul man cẖaran kamal lāge. ||1|| rahā▫o. but none of this is equal to the Lord's Name. Remain attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause|| ਚਾਰਿ ਬੇਦ ਜਿਹਵ ਭਨੇ ॥ चारि बेद जिहव भने ॥ Cẖār beḏ jihav bẖane. You may recite the four Vedas with your tongue, ਦਸ ਅਸਟ ਖਸਟ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨੇ ॥ दस असट खसट स्रवन सुने ॥ Ḏas asat kẖasat sarvan sune. and listen to the eighteen Puraanas and the six Shaastras with your ears, ਨਹੀ ਤੁਲਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਨਾਮ ਧੁਨੇ ॥ नही तुलि गोबिद नाम धुने ॥ Nahī ṯul gobiḏ nām ḏẖune. but these are not equal to the celestial melody of the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe. ਮਨ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ मन चरन कमल लागे ॥१॥ Man cẖaran kamal lāge. ||1|| Remain attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1|| ਬਰਤ ਸੰਧਿ ਸੋਚ ਚਾਰ ॥ बरत संधि सोच चार ॥ Baraṯ sanḏẖ socẖ cẖār. You may observe fasts, and say your prayers, purify yourself ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਕੁੰਟਿ ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰ ॥ क्रिआ कुंटि निराहार ॥ Kir▫ā kunt nirāhār. and do good deeds; you may go on pilgrimages everywhere and eat nothing at all. ਅਪਰਸ ਕਰਤ ਪਾਕਸਾਰ ॥ अपरस करत पाकसार ॥ Apras karaṯ pāksār. You may cook your food without touching anyone; ਨਿਵਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥ निवली करम बहु बिसथार ॥ Nivlī karam baho bisthār. you may make a great show of cleansing techniques, ਦੇਹੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਨੈਨ ਪੇਖਉ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਸਟ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੩੧॥ देहु दरसु नैन पेखउ जन नानक नाम मिसट लागे ॥२॥२॥१३१॥ Ḏeh ḏaras nain pekẖa▫o jan Nānak nām misat lāge. ||2||2||131|| Please grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, that I may see You with my eyes. The Naam is so sweet to servant Nanak. ||2||2||131|| ਰਾਮ ਦਇਆਰ ਸੁਨਿ ਦੀਨ ਬੇਨਤੀ ॥ राम दइआर सुनि दीन बेनती ॥ Rām ḏa▫i▫ār sun ḏīn benṯī. O Merciful Lord, please hear the prayer of the meek and the poor. ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥ धूप दीप करते हरि नाम तुलि न लागे ॥ Ḏẖūp ḏīp karṯe har nām ṯul na lāge. and burn incense and devotional lamps, but none of these are equal to the Lord's Name.
