ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ आइओ सुनन पड़न कउ बाणी ॥ Aa▫i▫o sunan paṛan ka▫o baṇee. The mortal came to hear and chant the Word of the Guru’s Bani. ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ सारग महला ५ ॥ Saarag mėhlaa 5. Saarang, Fifth Mehl: ਸਮਝੁ ਅਚੇਤ ਚੇਤਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਥੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥ समझु अचेत चेति मन मेरे कथी संतन अकथ कहाणी ॥ Samajʰ achéṫ chéṫ man méré kaṫʰee sanṫan akaṫʰ kahaaṇee. O my unconscious mind, become conscious and figure it out; the Saints speak the Unspoken Speech of the Lord. ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ नामु विसारि लगहि अन लालचि बिरथा जनमु पराणी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Naam visaar lagėh an laalach birṫʰaa janam paraaṇee. ||1|| rahaa▫o. But he has forgotten the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and he has become attached to other temptations. His life is totally worthless! ||1||Pause|| ਲਾਭੁ ਲੈਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਅਰਾਧਹੁ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ लाभु लैहु हरि रिदै अराधहु छुटकै आवण जाणी ॥१॥ Laabʰ læhu har riḋæ aaraaḋʰahu chʰutkæ aavaṇ jaaṇee. ||1|| So, gather in your profits - worship and adore the Lord within your heart; your coming and going in reincarnation shall end. ||1|| ਉਦਮੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥ उदमु सकति सिआणप तुम्हरी देहि त नामु वखाणी ॥ Uḋam sakaṫ si▫aaṇap ṫumĥree ḋėh ṫa naam vakʰaaṇee. Efforts, powers and clever tricks are Yours; if You bless me with them, I repeat Your Name. ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀ ॥੨॥੫੬॥੭੯॥ सेई भगत भगति से लागे नानक जो प्रभ भाणी ॥२॥५६॥७९॥ Sé▫ee bʰagaṫ bʰagaṫ sé laagé Naanak jo parabʰ bʰaaṇee. ||2||56||79|| They alone are devotees, and they alone are attached to devotional worship, O Nanak! Who are pleasing to God. ||2||56||79||
