ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ बसंतु महला ३ ॥ Basanṫ mėhlaa 3. Basant, Third Mehl: ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥ बिनु करमा सभ भरमि भुलाई ॥ Bin karmaa sabʰ bʰaram bʰulaa▫ee. Without the grace of good karma, all are deluded by doubt. ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ माइआ मोहि बहुतु दुखु पाई ॥ Maa▫i▫aa mohi bahuṫ ḋukʰ paa▫ee. In attachment to Maya, they suffer in terrible pain. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ मनमुख अंधे ठउर न पाई ॥ Manmukʰ anḋʰé tʰa▫ur na paa▫ee. The blind, self-willed Manmukhs find no place of rest. ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ बिसटा का कीड़ा बिसटा माहि समाई ॥१॥ Bistaa kaa keeṛaa bistaa maahi samaa▫ee. ||1|| They are like maggots in manure, rotting away in manure. ||1|| ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ हुकमु मंने सो जनु परवाणु ॥ Hukam manné so jan parvaaṇ. That humble being who obeys the Hukam of the Lord’s Command is accepted. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुर कै सबदि नामि नीसाणु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gur kæ sabaḋ naam neesaaṇ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, he is blessed with the insignia and the banner of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ साचि रते जिन्हा धुरि लिखि पाइआ ॥ Saach raṫé jinĥaa ḋʰur likʰ paa▫i▫aa. Those who have such preordained destiny are imbued with the Naam. ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ हरि का नामु सदा मनि भाइआ ॥ Har kaa naam saḋaa man bʰaa▫i▫aa. The Name of the Lord is forever pleasing to their minds. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ सतिगुर की बाणी सदा सुखु होइ ॥ Saṫgur kee baṇee saḋaa sukʰ ho▫é. Through the Bani, the Word of the True Guru, eternal peace is found. ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ जोती जोति मिलाए सोइ ॥२॥ Joṫee joṫ milaa▫é so▫é. ||2|| Through it, one’s light merges into the Light. ||2|| ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ एकु नामु तारे संसारु ॥ Ék naam ṫaaré sansaar. Only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, can save the world. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ गुर परसादी नाम पिआरु ॥ Gur parsaadee naam pi▫aar. By Guru’s Grace, one comes to love the Naam. ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ बिनु नामै मुकति किनै न पाई ॥ Bin naamæ mukaṫ kinæ na paa▫ee. Without the Naam, no one obtains liberation. ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥ पूरे गुर ते नामु पलै पाई ॥३॥ Pooré gur ṫé naam palæ paa▫ee. ||3|| Through the Perfect Guru, the Naam is obtained. ||3|| ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ सो बूझै जिसु आपि बुझाए ॥ So boojʰæ jis aap bujʰaa▫é. He alone understands whom the Lord Himself causes to understand. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੑਾਏ ॥ सतिगुर सेवा नामु द्रिड़्हाए ॥ Saṫgur sévaa naam ḋariṛ▫aa▫é. Serving the True Guru, the Naam is implanted within. ਜਿਨ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ जिन इकु जाता से जन परवाणु ॥ Jin ik jaaṫaa sé jan parvaaṇ. Those humble beings who know the One Lord are approved and accepted. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੧੦॥ नानक नामि रते दरि नीसाणु ॥४॥१०॥ Naanak naam raṫé ḋar neesaaṇ. ||4||10|| O Nanak! Imbued with the Naam, they go to the Lord’s Court with His banner and insignia. ||4||10||
