ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਕਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ नामि रते कुलां का करहि उधारु ॥ Nām raṯe kulāʼn kā karahi uḏẖār. Those who are imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord - their generations are redeemed and saved. ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ बसंतु महला ३ ॥ Basanṯ mėhlā 3. Basant, Third Mehl: ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਆਏ ॥ मनमुख भूले काहे आए ॥ Manmukẖ bẖūle kāhe ā▫e. Why have the wandering self-willed manmukhs even come into the world? ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ साची बाणी नाम पिआरु ॥ Sācẖī baṇī nām pi▫ār. True is their speech; they love the Naam. ਨਾਮਹੁ ਭੂਲੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥੧॥ नामहु भूले जनमु गवाए ॥१॥ Nāmhu bẖūle janam gavā▫e. ||1|| Forgetting the Naam, the mortals waste their lives away. ||1|| ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥ जीवत मरै मरि मरणु सवारै ॥ Jīvaṯ marai mar maraṇ savārai. One who dies while yet alive, truly dies, and embellishes his death. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुर कै सबदि साचु उर धारै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gur kai sabaḏ sācẖ ur ḏẖārai. ||1|| rahā▫o. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he enshrines the True Lord within his heart. ||1||Pause|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥ गुरमुखि सचु भोजनु पवितु सरीरा ॥ Gurmukẖ sacẖ bẖojan paviṯ sarīrā. Truth is the food of the Gurmukh; his body is sanctified and pure. ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਦ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥ मनु निरमलु सद गुणी गहीरा ॥ Man nirmal saḏ guṇī gahīrā. His mind is immaculate; he is forever the ocean of virtue. ਜੰਮੈ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ जमै मरै न आवै जाइ ॥ Jammai marai na āvai jā▫e. He is not forced to come and go in the cycle of birth and death. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ गुर परसादी साचि समाइ ॥२॥ Gur parsādī sācẖ samā▫e. ||2|| By Guru's Grace, he merges in the True Lord. ||2|| ਸਾਚਾ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ साचा सेवहु साचु पछाणै ॥ Sācẖā sevhu sācẖ pacẖẖāṇai. Serving the True Lord, one realizes Truth. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੈ ॥ गुर कै सबदि हरि दरि नीसाणै ॥ Gur kai sabaḏ har ḏar nīsāṇai. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he goes to the Lord's Court with his banners flying proudly. ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ दरि साचै सचु सोभा होइ ॥ Ḏar sācẖai sacẖ sobẖā ho▫e. In the Court of the True Lord, he obtains true glory. ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥ निज घरि वासा पावै सोइ ॥३॥ Nij gẖar vāsā pāvai so▫e. ||3|| He comes to dwell in the home of his own inner being. ||3|| ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ आपि अभुलु सचा सचु सोइ ॥ Āp abẖul sacẖā sacẖ so▫e. He cannot be fooled; He is the Truest of the True. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੯॥ नानक नामे साचि समाणी ॥४॥९॥ Nānak nāme sācẖ samāṇī. ||4||9|| O Nanak, through the Naam, merge in the True Lord. ||4||9|| ਸਾਚਾ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ साचा सेवहु साची बाणी ॥ Sācẖā sevhu sācẖī baṇī. So serve the True Lord, through the True Bani of His Word. ਹੋਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਭੂਲਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥ होरि सभि भूलहि दूजै पति खोइ ॥ Hor sabẖ bẖūlėh ḏūjai paṯ kẖo▫e. All others are deluded; in duality, they lose their honor.
