By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ ਘਰੁ ੨ भैरउ महला ५ असटपदीआ घरु २ Bʰæro mėhlaa 5 asatpaḋee▫aa gʰar 2 Bhairao, Fifth Mehl, Ashtapadees, Second House: ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾਜਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु पूरे काजा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis pooré kaajaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart - his tasks are perfectly accomplished. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਧਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिनि कोटि धन पाए ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫin kot ḋʰan paa▫é. One who keeps the Naam in his heart, obtains millions of treasures. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋਈ ਵਡ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सोई वड राजा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so▫ee vad raajaa. He alone is a great king, who keeps the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within his heart. ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥ नाम बिना जनमु बिरथा जाए ॥१॥ Naam binaa janam birṫʰaa jaa▫é. ||1|| Without the Naam, life is useless. ||1|| ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ तिसु सालाही जिसु हरि धनु रासि ॥ Ṫis saalaahee jis har ḋʰan raas. I praise that person, who has the capital of the Lord’s Wealth. ਸੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਾਥੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ सो वडभागी जिसु गुर मसतकि हाथु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ So vadbʰaagee jis gur masṫak haaṫʰ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. He is very fortunate, on whose forehead the Guru has placed His Hand. ||1||Pause|| ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੋਟ ਕਈ ਸੈਨਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु कोट कई सैना ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis kot ka▫ee sænaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart, has many millions of armies on his side. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੈਨਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु सहज सुखैना ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis sahj sukʰænaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart, enjoys peace and poise. ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਮੂਆ ॥੨॥ नाम बिना ध्रिगु जीवणु मूआ ॥२॥ Naam binaa ḋʰarig jeevaṇ moo▫aa. ||2|| Without the Naam, both life and death are cursed. ||2|| ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो जीवन मुकता ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so jeevan mukṫaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is Jivan-mukta, liberated while still alive. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੂਆ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो सीतलु हूआ ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so seeṫal hoo▫aa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart becomes cool and calm. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु सभ ही जुगता ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis sabʰ hee jugṫaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart knows all ways and means. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिनि नउ निधि पाई ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫin na▫o niḋʰ paa▫ee. One who keeps the Naam in his heart obtains the nine treasures. ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ नाम बिना भ्रमि आवै जाई ॥३॥ Naam binaa bʰaram aavæ jaa▫ee. ||3|| Without the Naam, the mortal wanders, coming and going in reincarnation. ||3|| ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो वेपरवाहा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so véparvaahaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is carefree and independent. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਲਾਹਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु सद ही लाहा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis saḋ hee laahaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart always earns a profit. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਡ ਪਰਵਾਰਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु वड परवारा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis vad parvaaraa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart has a large family. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਨੁ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु निहचल आसनु ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis nihchal aasan. One who keeps the Naam in his heart has a permanent position. ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥੪॥ नाम बिना मनमुख गावारा ॥४॥ Naam binaa manmukʰ gaavaaraa. ||4|| Without the Naam, the mortal is just an ignorant, self-willed Manmukh. ||4|| ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਤਖਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਸਨੁ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु तखति निवासनु ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis ṫakʰaṫ nivaasan. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is seated on the throne. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो साचा साहु ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so saachaa saahu. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is the true king. ਨਾਮਹੀਣ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥੫॥ नामहीण नाही पति वेसाहु ॥५॥ Naamheeṇ naahee paṫ vésaahu. ||5|| Without the Naam, no one has any honor or respect. ||5|| ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो सभ महि जाता ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so sabʰ mėh jaaṫaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is famous everywhere. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो पुरखु बिधाता ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so purakʰ biḋʰaaṫaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is the Embodiment of the Creator Lord. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो सभ ते ऊचा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so sabʰ ṫé oochaa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is the highest of all. ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਮੂਚਾ ॥੬॥ नाम बिना भ्रमि जोनी मूचा ॥६॥ Naam binaa bʰaram jonee moochaa. ||6|| Without the Naam, the mortal wanders in reincarnation. ||6|| ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਪਹਾਰਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु प्रगटि पहारा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis pargat pahaaraa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart sees the Lord manifested in His Creation. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु मिटिआ अंधारा ॥ Jis naam riḋæ ṫis miti▫aa anḋʰaaraa. One who keeps the Naam in his heart - his darkness is dispelled. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ जिसु नामु रिदै सो पुरखु परवाणु ॥ Jis naam riḋæ so purakʰ parvaaṇ. One who keeps the Naam in his heart is approved and accepted. ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੭॥ नाम बिना फिरि आवण जाणु ॥७॥ Naam binaa fir aavaṇ jaaṇ. ||7|| Without the Naam, the mortal continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||7|| ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ आवण जाण रहे सुखु पाइआ ॥ Aavaṇ jaaṇ rahé sukʰ paa▫i▫aa. Coming and going in reincarnation ends, and peace is found. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਲਖੇ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ॥ साधसंगति महि लखे गुोपाल ॥ Saaḋʰsangaṫ mėh lakʰé gopaal. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Lord of the World is understood. ਤਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥ तिनि नामु पाइआ जिसु भइओ क्रिपाल ॥ Ṫin naam paa▫i▫aa jis bʰa▫i▫o kirpaal. He alone receives the Naam, who is blessed by the Lord’s Mercy. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੈ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥ कहु नानक ततै ततु मिलाइआ ॥८॥१॥४॥ Kaho Naanak ṫaṫæ ṫaṫ milaa▫i▫aa. ||8||1||4|| Says Nanak, my essence has merged in the Essence of the Lord. ||8||1||4||
