ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ जिसु सिमरत मनि होइ प्रगासु ॥ Jis simraṫ man ho▫é pargaas. Meditating in remembrance of Him, the mind is illuminated. ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ भैरउ महला ५ ॥ Bʰæro mėhlaa 5. Bhairao, Fifth Mehl: ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ तिसहि परापति जिसु प्रभु देइ ॥ Ṫisėh paraapaṫ jis parabʰ ḋé▫é. They alone receive it, unto whom God gives it. ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ मिटहि कलेस सुख सहजि निवासु ॥ Mitėh kalés sukʰ sahj nivaas. Suffering is eradicated, and one comes to dwell in peace and poise. ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਏ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ पूरे गुर की पाए सेव ॥१॥ Pooré gur kee paa▫é sév. ||1|| They are blessed to serve the Perfect Guru. ||1|| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ आठ पहर मेरे मन गाउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Aatʰ pahar méré man gaa▫o. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Twenty-four hours a day, O my mind! Sing His Glorious Praises. ||1||Pause|| ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਉ ॥ सरब सुखा प्रभ तेरो नाउ ॥ Sarab sukʰaa parabʰ ṫéro naa▫o. All peace and comfort are in Your Name, God. ਜੋ ਇਛੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ जो इछै सोई फलु पाए ॥ Jo ichʰæ so▫ee fal paa▫é. You shall receive the fruits of your desires, ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ हरि का नामु मंनि वसाए ॥ Har kaa naam man vasaa▫é. when the Name of the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥ आवण जाण रहे हरि धिआइ ॥ Aavaṇ jaaṇ rahé har ḋʰi▫aa▫é. Meditating on the Lord, your comings and goings cease. ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ भगति भाइ प्रभ की लिव लाइ ॥२॥ Bʰagaṫ bʰaa▫é parabʰ kee liv laa▫é. ||2|| Through loving devotional worship, lovingly focus your attention on God. ||2|| ਬਿਨਸੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ॥ बिनसे काम क्रोध अहंकार ॥ Binsé kaam kroḋʰ ahaⁿkaar. Sexual desire, anger and egotism are dispelled. ਤੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ॥ तूटे माइआ मोह पिआर ॥ Ṫooté maa▫i▫aa moh pi▫aar. Love and attachment to Maya are broken. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ प्रभ की टेक रहै दिनु राति ॥ Parabʰ kee ték rahæ ḋin raaṫ. Lean on God’s Support, day and night. ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੩॥ पारब्रहमु करे जिसु दाति ॥३॥ Paarbarahm karé jis ḋaaṫ. ||3|| The Supreme Lord God has given this gift. ||3|| ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ करन करावनहार सुआमी ॥ Karan karaavanhaar su▫aamee. Our Lord and Master is the Creator, the Cause of all causes. ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ सगल घटा के अंतरजामी ॥ Sagal gʰataa ké anṫarjaamee. He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of all hearts. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇ ॥ करि किरपा अपनी सेवा लाइ ॥ Kar kirpaa apnee sévaa laa▫é. Bless me with Your Grace, Lord, and link me to Your service. ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੪੪॥ नानक दास तेरी सरणाइ ॥४॥३१॥४४॥ Naanak ḋaas ṫéree sarṇaa▫é. ||4||31||44|| Slave Nanak has come to Your Sanctuary. ||4||31||44|| ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਚਾਹੈ ॥ हरि सिमरनु छाडि परम गति चाहै ॥ Har simran chʰaad param gaṫ chaahæ. The mortal abandons meditative remembrance of the Lord, and then wishes for the state of supreme salvation; ਲਾਜ ਮਰੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲੇਵੈ ॥ लाज मरै जो नामु न लेवै ॥ Laaj maræ jo naam na lévæ. One who does not repeat the Naam, the Name of the Lord, shall die of shame.
