ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥ हरि अगम अगोचरु सदा अबिनासी ॥ Har agam agocẖar saḏā abẖināsī. The Lord is inaccessible and unfathomable; He is eternal and imperishable. ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ मारू महला ४ ॥ Mārū mėhlā 4. Maaroo, Fourth Mehl: ਸਰਬੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਘਟ ਵਾਸੀ ॥ सरबे रवि रहिआ घट वासी ॥ Sarbe rav rahi▫ā gẖat vāsī. He dwells in the heart, and is all-pervading, permeating everywhere. ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ तिसु बिनु अवरु न कोई दाता हरि तिसहि सरेवहु प्राणी हे ॥१॥ Ŧis bin avar na ko▫ī ḏāṯā har ṯisėh sarevhu parāṇī he. ||1|| There is no other Giver except Him; worship the Lord, O mortals. ||1|| ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਾਕਸਿ ਮਾਰਾ ॥ ता कउ कोइ न साकसि मारा ॥ Ŧā ka▫o ko▫e na sākas mārā. to him no one can kill. ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ जा कउ राखै हरि राखणहारा ॥ Jā ka▫o rākẖai har rākẖaṇhārā. The one who is saved by the Savior Lord, ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ सो ऐसा हरि सेवहु संतहु जा की ऊतम बाणी हे ॥२॥ So aisā har sevhu sanṯahu jā kī ūṯam baṇī he. ||2|| So serve such a Lord, O Saints, whose Bani is exalted and sublime. ||2|| ਜਾ ਜਾਪੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਿਥਾਊ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ जा जापै किछु किथाऊ नाही ॥ Jā jāpai kicẖẖ kithā▫ū nāhī. When it seems that a place is empty and void, ਤਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥ ता करता भरपूरि समाही ॥ Ŧā karṯā bẖarpūr samāhī. there, the Creator Lord is permeating and pervading. ਸੂਕੇ ਤੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਹਰਿਆ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੩॥ सूके ते फुनि हरिआ कीतोनु हरि धिआवहु चोज विडाणी हे ॥३॥ Sūke ṯe fun hari▫ā kīṯon har ḏẖi▫āvahu cẖoj vidāṇī he. ||3|| He causes the dried-up branch to blossom forth in greenery again; so meditate on the Lord - wondrous are His ways! ||3|| ਜੋ ਜੀਆ ਕੀ ਵੇਦਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ जो जीआ की वेदन जाणै ॥ Jo jī▫ā kī veḏan jāṇai. The One who knows the anguish of all beings - ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੈ ॥ तिसु साहिब कै हउ कुरबाणै ॥ Ŧis sāhib kai ha▫o kurbāṇai. unto that Lord and Master, I am a sacrifice. ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਜਨ ਕਰਿ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਜੋ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੪॥ तिसु आगै जन करि बेनंती जो सरब सुखा का दाणी हे ॥४॥ Ŧis āgai jan kar benanṯī jo sarab sukẖā kā ḏāṇī he. ||4|| Offer your prayers to the One who is the Giver of all peace and joy. ||4|| ਜੋ ਜੀਐ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ जो जीऐ की सार न जाणै ॥ Jo jī▫ai kī sār na jāṇai. But one who does not know the state of the soul - ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਕਹੀਐ ਅਜਾਣੈ ॥ तिसु सिउ किछु न कहीऐ अजाणै ॥ Ŧis si▫o kicẖẖ na kahī▫ai ajāṇai. do not say anything to such an ignorant person. ਮੂਰਖ ਸਿਉ ਨਹ ਲੂਝੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੫॥ मूरख सिउ नह लूझु पराणी हरि जपीऐ पदु निरबाणी हे ॥५॥ Mūrakẖ si▫o nah lūjẖ parāṇī har japī▫ai paḏ nirbāṇī he. ||5|| Do not argue with fools, O mortals. Meditate on the Lord, in the state of Nirvaanaa. ||5|| ਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਰਤੇ ॥ ना करि चिंत चिंता है करते ॥ Nā kar cẖinṯ cẖinṯā hai karṯe. Don't worry - let the Creator take care of it. ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਜੰਤਾ ਸਭਤੈ ॥ हरि देवै जलि थलि जंता सभतै ॥ Har ḏevai jal thal janṯā sabẖ▫ṯai. The Lord gives to all creatures in the water and on the land. ਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਆਸ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਤ ਭਾਈ ॥ ना करि आस मीत सुत भाई ॥ Nā kar ās mīṯ suṯ bẖā▫ī. Do not place your hopes in friends, children and siblings. ਅਚਿੰਤ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀਟ ਪਖਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੬॥ अचिंत दानु देइ प्रभु मेरा विचि पाथर कीट पखाणी हे ॥६॥ Acẖinṯ ḏān ḏe▫e parabẖ merā vicẖ pāthar kīt pakẖāṇī he. ||6|| My God bestows His blessings without being asked, even to worms in soil and stones. ||6|| ਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਆਸ ਕਿਸੈ ਸਾਹ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਾਈ ॥ ना करि आस किसै साह बिउहार की पराई ॥ Nā kar ās kisai sāh bi▫uhār kī parā▫ī. Do not place your hopes in kings or the business of others. ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੭॥ बिनु हरि नावै को बेली नाही हरि जपीऐ सारंगपाणी हे ॥७॥ Bin har nāvai ko belī nāhī har japī▫ai sārangpāṇī he. ||7|| Without the Lord's Name, no one will be your helper; so meditate on the Lord, the Lord of the world. ||7|| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥ अनदिनु नामु जपहु बनवारी ॥ An▫ḏin nām japahu banvārī. Night and day, chant the Naam. ਸਭ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੈ ਥਾਰੀ ॥ सभ आसा मनसा पूरै थारी ॥ Sabẖ āsā mansā pūrai thārī. All your hopes and desires shall be fulfilled. ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੮॥ जन नानक नामु जपहु भव खंडनु सुखि सहजे रैणि विहाणी हे ॥८॥ Jan Nānak nām japahu bẖav kẖandan sukẖ sėhje raiṇ vihāṇī he. ||8|| O servant Nanak, chant the Naam, the Name of the Destroyer of fear, and your life-night shall pass in intuitive peace and poise. ||8|| ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ जिनि हरि सेविआ तिनि सुखु पाइआ ॥ Jin har sevi▫ā ṯin sukẖ pā▫i▫ā. Those who serve the Lord find peace. ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ सहजे ही हरि नामि समाइआ ॥ Sėhje hī har nām samā▫i▫ā. They are intuitively absorbed in the Lord's Name. ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ जिसु हरि सेवा लाए सोई जनु लागै ॥ Jis har sevā lā▫e so▫ī jan lāgai. That humble being is attached to the Lord's service, whom the Lord so attaches. ਜੋ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਜਾਇ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੯॥ जो सरणि परै तिस की पति राखै जाइ पूछहु वेद पुराणी हे ॥९॥ Jo saraṇ parai ṯis kī paṯ rākẖai jā▫e pūcẖẖahu veḏ purāṇī he. ||9|| The Lord preserves the honor of those who seek His Sanctuary; go and consult the Vedas and the Puraanas. ||9|| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਰਮ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ गुर कै सबदि भरम भउ भागै ॥ Gur kai sabaḏ bẖaram bẖa▫o bẖāgai. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, doubt and fear are dispelled. ਵਿਚੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਜਿਉ ਕਮਲੁ ਰਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ विचे ग्रिह सदा रहै उदासी जिउ कमलु रहै विचि पाणी हे ॥१०॥ vicẖe garih saḏā rahai uḏāsī ji▫o kamal rahai vicẖ pāṇī he. ||10|| In his own home, he remains unattached, like the lotus flower in the water. ||10|| ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੇਵਾ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ विचि हउमै सेवा थाइ न पाए ॥ vicẖ ha▫umai sevā thā▫e na pā▫e. One who serves in egotism is not accepted or approved. ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ जनमि मरै फिरि आवै जाए ॥ Janam marai fir āvai jā▫e. Such a person is born, only to die again, and come and go in reincarnation. ਸੋ ਤਪੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥ सो तपु पूरा साई सेवा जो हरि मेरे मनि भाणी हे ॥११॥ So ṯap pūrā sā▫ī sevā jo har mere man bẖāṇī he. ||11|| Perfect is that penance and that service, which is pleasing to the Mind of my Lord. ||11|| ਹਉ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਖਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ हउ किआ गुण तेरे आखा सुआमी ॥ Ha▫o ki▫ā guṇ ṯere ākẖā su▫āmī. What Glorious Virtues of Yours should I chant, O my Lord and Master? ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ तू सरब जीआ का अंतरजामी ॥ Ŧū sarab jī▫ā kā anṯarjāmī. You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of all souls. ਹਉ ਮਾਗਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਤੁਝੈ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥ हउ मागउ दानु तुझै पहि करते हरि अनदिनु नामु वखाणी हे ॥१२॥ Ha▫o māga▫o ḏān ṯujẖai pėh karṯe har an▫ḏin nām vakẖāṇī he. ||12|| I beg for blessings from You, O Creator Lord; I repeat Your Name night and day. ||12|| ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਜੋਰੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਬੋਲਣ ਕਾ ॥ किस ही जोरु अहंकार बोलण का ॥ Kis hī jor ahaʼnkār bolaṇ kā. Some speak in egotistical power. ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਜੋਰੁ ਦੀਬਾਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ॥ किस ही जोरु दीबान माइआ का ॥ Kis hī jor ḏībān mā▫i▫ā kā. Some have the power of authority and Maya. ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਟੇਕ ਧਰ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਤੂ ਕਰਤੇ ਰਾਖੁ ਮੈ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥ मै हरि बिनु टेक धर अवर न काई तू करते राखु मै निमाणी हे ॥१३॥ Mai har bin tek ḏẖar avar na kā▫ī ṯū karṯe rākẖ mai nimāṇī he. ||13|| I have no other Support at all, except the Lord. O Creator Lord, please save me, meek and dishonored. ||13|| ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਮਾਣੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ निमाणे माणु करहि तुधु भावै ॥ Nimāṇe māṇ karahi ṯuḏẖ bẖāvai. You bless the meek and dishonored with honor, as it pleases You, O Lord. ਹੋਰ ਕੇਤੀ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥ होर केती झखि झखि आवै जावै ॥ Hor keṯī jẖakẖ jẖakẖ āvai jāvai. Many others argue in conflict, coming and going in reincarnation. ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਪਖੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਊਪਰਿ ਗਲ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥ जिन का पखु करहि तू सुआमी तिन की ऊपरि गल तुधु आणी हे ॥१४॥ Jin kā pakẖ karahi ṯū su▫āmī ṯin kī ūpar gal ṯuḏẖ āṇī he. ||14|| Those people, whose side You take, O Lord and Master, are elevated and successful. ||14|| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ हरि हरि नामु जिनी सदा धिआइआ ॥ Har har nām jinī saḏā ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā. Those who meditate forever on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, ਤਿਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ तिनी गुर परसादि परम पदु पाइआ ॥ Ŧinī gur parsāḏ param paḏ pā▫i▫ā. by Guru's Grace, obtain the supreme status. ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਛੋਤਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥ जिनि हरि सेविआ तिनि सुखु पाइआ बिनु सेवा पछोताणी हे ॥१५॥ Jin har sevi▫ā ṯin sukẖ pā▫i▫ā bin sevā pacẖẖoṯāṇī he. ||15|| Those who serve the Lord find peace; without serving Him, they regret and repent. ||15|| ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਾਥੁ ॥ सो हरि जपै जिसु गुर मसतकि हाथु ॥ So har japai jis gur masṯak hāth. He alone meditates on the Lord, upon whose forehead the Guru places His hand. ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਸਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੨॥ हरि की सरणि पइआ हरि जापी जनु नानकु दासु दसाणी हे ॥१६॥२॥ Har kī saraṇ pa▫i▫ā har jāpī jan Nānak ḏās ḏasāṇī he. ||16||2|| Entering the Sanctuary of the Lord, I meditate on the Lord; servant Nanak is the slave of His slaves. ||16||2|| ਤੂ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥੁ ॥ तू सभ महि वरतहि हरि जगंनाथु ॥ Ŧū sabẖ mėh varṯėh har jagannāth. You are pervading all, O Lord of the world.
