ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ Ik▫oaⁿkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ. One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਘਰੁ ੫ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ मारू महला ३ घरु ५ असटपदी Maaroo mėhlaa 3 gʰar 5 asatpaḋee Maaroo, Third Mehl, Fifth House, Ashtapadees: ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ साचै सबदि सहजि सुभाए ॥ Saachæ sabaḋ sahj subʰaa▫é. is intuitively exalted by the True Word of the Shabad. ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ जिस नो प्रेमु मंनि वसाए ॥ Jis no parém man vasaa▫é. One whose mind is filled with the Lord’s Love, ਏਹਾ ਵੇਦਨ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ एहा वेदन सोई जाणै अवरु कि जाणै कारी जीउ ॥१॥ Éhaa véḋan so▫ee jaaṇæ avar kė jaaṇæ kaaree jee▫o. ||1|| He alone knows the pain of this love; what does anyone else know about its cure? ||1|| ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ आपे मेले आपि मिलाए ॥ Aapé mélé aap milaa▫é. He Himself unites in His Union. ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥ आपणा पिआरु आपे लाए ॥ Aapṇaa pi▫aar aapé laa▫é. He Himself inspires us with His Love. ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ प्रेम की सार सोई जाणै जिस नो नदरि तुमारी जीउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Parém kee saar so▫ee jaaṇæ jis no naḋar ṫumaaree jee▫o. ||1|| rahaa▫o. He alone appreciates the value of Your Love, upon whom You shower Your Grace, O Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਦਿਬ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ दिब द्रिसटि जागै भरमु चुकाए ॥ Ḋib ḋarisat jaagæ bʰaram chukaa▫é. One whose spiritual vision is awakened - his doubt is driven out. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ गुर परसादि परम पदु पाए ॥ Gur parsaaḋ param paḋ paa▫é. By Guru’s Grace, he obtains the supreme-status. ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ सो जोगी इह जुगति पछाणै गुर कै सबदि बीचारी जीउ ॥२॥ So jogee ih jugaṫ pachʰaaṇæ gur kæ sabaḋ beechaaree jee▫o. ||2|| He alone is a Yogi, who understands this way, and contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||2|| ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ संजोगी धन पिर मेला होवै ॥ Sanjogee ḋʰan pir mélaa hovæ. By good destiny, the soul-bride is united with her Husband Lord. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਵੈ ॥ गुरमति विचहु दुरमति खोवै ॥ Gurmaṫ vichahu ḋurmaṫ kʰovæ. Following the Guru’s Teachings, she eradicates her evil-mindedness from within. ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਨਿਤ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਣੈ ਅਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ रंग सिउ नित रलीआ माणै अपणे कंत पिआरी जीउ ॥३॥ Rang si▫o niṫ ralee▫aa maaṇæ apṇé kanṫ pi▫aaree jee▫o. ||3|| With love, she continually enjoys pleasure with Him; she becomes the beloved of her Husband Lord. ||3|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਵੈਦੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ सतिगुर बाझहु वैदु न कोई ॥ Saṫgur baajʰahu væḋ na ko▫ee. Other than the True Guru, there is no physician. ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥ आपे आपि निरंजनु सोई ॥ Aapé aap niranjan so▫ee. He Himself is the Immaculate Lord. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਰੈ ਮੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥ सतिगुर मिलिऐ मरै मंदा होवै गिआन बीचारी जीउ ॥४॥ Saṫgur mili▫æ maræ manḋaa hovæ gi▫aan beechaaree jee▫o. ||4|| Meeting with the True Guru, evil is conquered, and spiritual wisdom is contemplated. ||4|| ਏਹੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਾਰੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਏ ॥ एहु सबदु सारु जिस नो लाए ॥ Éhu sabaḋ saar jis no laa▫é. One who is committed to this most sublime Shabad ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ गुरमुखि त्रिसना भुख गवाए ॥ Gurmukʰ ṫarisnaa bʰukʰ gavaa▫é. becomes Gurmukh, and is rid of thirst and hunger. ਆਪਣ ਲੀਆ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥ आपण लीआ किछू न पाईऐ करि किरपा कल धारी जीउ ॥५॥ Aapaṇ lee▫aa kichʰoo na paa▫ee▫æ kar kirpaa kal ḋʰaaree jee▫o. ||5|| By one’s own efforts, nothing can be accomplished; the Lord, in His Mercy, bestows power. ||5|| ਅਗਮ ਨਿਗਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ अगम निगमु सतिगुरू दिखाइआ ॥ Agam nigam saṫguroo ḋikʰaa▫i▫aa. The True Guru has revealed the essence of the Shastras and the Vedas. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪਨੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ करि किरपा अपनै घरि आइआ ॥ Kar kirpaa apnæ gʰar aa▫i▫aa. In His Mercy, He has come into the home of myself. ਅੰਜਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥ अंजन माहि निरंजनु जाता जिन कउ नदरि तुमारी जीउ ॥६॥ Anjan maahi niranjan jaaṫaa jin ka▫o naḋar ṫumaaree jee▫o. ||6|| In the midst of Maya, the Immaculate Lord is known, by those upon whom You bestow Your Grace. ||6|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਤਤੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ गुरमुखि होवै सो ततु पाए ॥ Gurmukʰ hovæ so ṫaṫ paa▫é. One who becomes Gurmukh, obtains the essence of reality; ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ आपणा आपु विचहु गवाए ॥ Aapṇaa aap vichahu gavaa▫é. he eradicates his self-conceit from within. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਧੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੭॥ सतिगुर बाझहु सभु धंधु कमावै वेखहु मनि वीचारी जीउ ॥७॥ Saṫgur baajʰahu sabʰ ḋʰanḋʰ kamaavæ vékʰhu man veechaaree jee▫o. ||7|| Without the True Guru, all are entangled in worldly affairs; consider this in your mind, and see. ||7|| ਇਕਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ इकि भ्रमि भूले फिरहि अहंकारी ॥ Ik bʰaram bʰoolé firėh ahaⁿkaaree. Some are deluded by doubt; they strut around egotistically. ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥ इकना गुरमुखि हउमै मारी ॥ Iknaa gurmukʰ ha▫umæ maaree. Some, as Gurmukh, subdue their egotism. ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਹੋਰਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੇ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੮॥ सचै सबदि रते बैरागी होरि भरमि भुले गावारी जीउ ॥८॥ Sachæ sabaḋ raṫé bæraagee hor bʰaram bʰulé gaavaaree jee▫o. ||8|| Attuned to the True Word of the Shabad, they remain detached from the world. The other ignorant fools wander, confused and deluded by doubt. ||8|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ गुरमुखि जिनी नामु न पाइआ ॥ Gurmukʰ jinee naam na paa▫i▫aa. Those who have not become Gurmukh, and who have not found the Naam, the Name of the Lord - ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ मनमुखि बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥ Manmukʰ birṫʰaa janam gavaa▫i▫aa. those self-willed Manmukhs waste their lives uselessly. ਅਗੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੯॥ अगै विणु नावै को बेली नाही बूझै गुर बीचारी जीउ ॥९॥ Agæ viṇ naavæ ko bélee naahee boojʰæ gur beechaaree jee▫o. ||9|| In the world hereafter, nothing except the Name will be of any assistance; this is understood by contemplating the Guru. ||9|| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥ अमृत नामु सदा सुखदाता ॥ Amriṫ naam saḋaa sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa. The Ambrosial Naam is the Giver of peace forever. ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ गुरि पूरै जुग चारे जाता ॥ Gur pooræ jug chaaré jaaṫaa. Throughout the four ages, it is known through the Perfect Guru. ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧੦॥੧॥ जिसु तू देवहि सोई पाए नानक ततु बीचारी जीउ ॥१०॥१॥ Jis ṫoo ḋévėh so▫ee paa▫é Naanak ṫaṫ beechaaree jee▫o. ||10||1|| He alone receives it, unto whom You bestow it; this is the essence of reality which Nanak has realized. ||10||1||
