Kẖāṇī. 1. ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਤਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਉਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ, ਇਹ ਹਨ ਅੰਡਜ (ਅੰਡਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ), ਜੇਰਜ (ਜੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੇਤਜ (ਪਸੀਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਅਥਵਾ ਉਤਭੁਜ (ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ)। 2. ਖਾਨ। 1. division of living creatures on the basis of their sources of origin. 2. mine.
ਉਦਾਹਰਨਾ:
1. ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜੋਧ ਮਹਾਬਲ ਸੂਰਾ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਖਾਣੀ ਚਾਰੇ ॥ Japujee, Guru Nanak Dev, 27:13 (P: 6).
ਉਦਾਹਰਨ:
ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਏਹ ਰਤਨਾ ਖਾਣੀ ॥ Raga Gaurhee 5, Vaar 4:3 (P: 319).
