ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖੁ ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ amriṯ ras cẖākẖ.
Taste the ambrosial essence, the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਅਵਰਿ ਜਤਨ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਉਨ ਕਾਜ ॥
Avar jaṯan kahhu ka▫un kāj.
Of what use are other efforts?
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਾਜ ॥੨॥
Kar kirpā rākẖai āp lāj. ||2||
Showing His Mercy, the Lord Himself protects our honor. ||2||
|
ਕਿਆ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਜੋਰੁ ॥
Ki▫ā mānukẖ kahhu ki▫ā jor.
What is the human? What power does he have?
|
ਝੂਠਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਸੋਰੁ ॥
Jẖūṯẖā mā▫i▫ā kā sabẖ sor.
All the tumult of Maya is false.
|
ਕਰਣ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
Karaṇ karāvanhār su▫āmī.
Our Lord and Master is the One who acts, and causes others to act.
|
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
Sagal gẖatā ke anṯarjāmī. ||3||
He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of all hearts. ||3||
|
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਹੁ ॥
Sarab sukẖā sukẖ sācẖā ehu.
Of all comforts, this is the true comfort.
|
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਮਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥
Gur upḏes manai mėh leho.
Keep the Guru's Teachings in your mind.
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
Jā ka▫o rām nām liv lāgī.
Those who bear love for the Name of the Lord -
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੭੬॥
Kaho Nānak so ḏẖan vadbẖāgī. ||4||7||76||
says Nanak, they are blessed, and very fortunate. ||4||7||76||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Ga▫oṛī gu▫ārerī mėhlā 5.

ਸੁਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਉਤਾਰੀ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
Suṇ har kathā uṯārī mail.
Listening to the Lord's sermon, my pollution has been washed away.
|
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਭਏ ਸੁਖ ਸੈਲੁ ॥
Mahā punīṯ bẖa▫e sukẖ sail.
I have become totally pure, and I now walk in peace.
|
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ॥
vadai bẖāg pā▫i▫ā sāḏẖsang.
By great good fortune, I found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
Pārbarahm si▫o lāgo rang. ||1||
I have fallen in love with the Supreme Lord God. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਜਨੁ ਤਾਰਿਓ ॥
Har har nām japaṯ jan ṯāri▫o.
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, His servant has been carried across.
|
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Agan sāgar gur pār uṯāri▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Guru has lifted me up and carried me across the ocean of fire. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਮਨ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ॥
Kar kīrṯan man sīṯal bẖa▫e.
Singing the Kirtan of His Praises, my mind has become peaceful;
|
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਗਏ ॥
Janam janam ke kilvikẖ ga▫e.
the sins of countless incarnations have been washed away.
|
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪੇਖੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sarab niḏẖān pekẖe man māhi.
I have seen all the treasures within my own mind;
|
ਅਬ ਢੂਢਨ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
Ab dẖūdẖan kāhe ka▫o jāhi. ||2||
why should I now go out searching for them? ||2||
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
Parabẖ apune jab bẖa▫e ḏa▫i▫āl.
When God Himself becomes merciful,
|
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਕ ਘਾਲ ॥
Pūran ho▫ī sevak gẖāl.
the work of His servant becomes perfect.
|
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
Banḏẖan kāt kī▫e apne ḏās.
He has cut away my bonds, and made me His slave.
|
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੩॥
Simar simar simar guṇṯās. ||3||
Remember, remember, remember Him in meditation; He is the treasure of excellence. ||3||
|
ਏਕੋ ਮਨਿ ਏਕੋ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥
Ėko man eko sabẖ ṯẖā▫e.
He alone is in the mind; He alone is everywhere.
|
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥
Pūran pūr rahi▫o sabẖ jā▫e.
The Perfect Lord is totally permeating and pervading everywhere.
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
Gur pūrai sabẖ bẖaram cẖukā▫i▫ā.
The Perfect Guru has dispelled all doubts.
|
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੭੭॥
Har simraṯ Nānak sukẖ pā▫i▫ā. ||4||8||77||
Remembering the Lord in meditation, Nanak has found peace. ||4||8||77||

ਅਗਲੇ ਮੁਏ ਸਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਰੇ ॥
Agle mu▫e sė pācẖẖai pare.
Those who have died have been forgotten.
|
ਜੋ ਉਬਰੇ ਸੇ ਬੰਧਿ ਲਕੁ ਖਰੇ ॥
Jo ubre se banḏẖ lak kẖare.
Those who survive have fastened their belts.
|
ਜਿਹ ਧੰਧੇ ਮਹਿ ਓਇ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥
Jih ḏẖanḏẖe mėh o▫e laptā▫e.
They are busily occupied in their affairs;
|
ਉਨ ਤੇ ਦੁਗੁਣ ਦਿੜੀ ਉਨ ਮਾਏ ॥੧॥
Un ṯe ḏuguṇ ḏiṛī un mā▫e. ||1||
they cling twice as hard to Maya. ||1||
|
ਓਹ ਬੇਲਾ ਕਛੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
Oh belā kacẖẖ cẖīṯ na āvai.
No one thinks of the time of death;
|
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਤਾਹੂ ਲਪਟਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Binas jā▫e ṯāhū laptāvai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
people grasp to hold that which shall pass away. ||1||Pause||
|
ਆਸਾ ਬੰਧੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਦੇਹ ॥
Āsā banḏẖī mūrakẖ ḏeh.
The fools - their bodies are bound down by desires.
|
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਅਸਨੇਹ ॥
Kām kroḏẖ lapti▫o asneh.
They are mired in sexual desire, anger and attachment;
|
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਠਾਢੋ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ॥
Sir ūpar ṯẖādẖo ḏẖaram rā▫e.
the Righteous Judge of Dharma stands over their heads.
|
ਮੀਠੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥
Mīṯẖī kar kar bikẖi▫ā kẖā▫e. ||2||
Believing it to be sweet, the fools eat poison. ||2||
|
ਹਉ ਬੰਧਉ ਹਉ ਸਾਧਉ ਬੈਰੁ ॥
Ha▫o banḏẖa▫o ha▫o sāḏẖa▫o bair.
They say, "I shall tie up my enemy, and I shall cut him down. Who dares to set foot upon my land?
|
ਹਮਰੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਕਉਣੁ ਘਾਲੈ ਪੈਰੁ ॥
Hamrī bẖūm ka▫uṇ gẖālai pair.
Who dares to set foot upon my land?
|
ਹਉ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਹਉ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
Ha▫o pandiṯ ha▫o cẖaṯur si▫āṇā.
I am learned, I am clever and wise.
|
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਬੁਝੈ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
Karṇaihār na bujẖai bigānā. ||3||
The ignorant ones do not recognize their Creator. ||3||
|
ਅਪੁਨੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Apunī gaṯ miṯ āpe jānai.
The Lord Himself knows His Own state and condition.
|
ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਨੈ ॥
Ki▫ā ko kahai ki▫ā ākẖ vakẖānai.
What can anyone say? How can anyone describe Him?
|
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥
Jiṯ jiṯ lāvėh ṯiṯ ṯiṯ lagnā.
Whatever He attaches us to - to that we are attached.
|
ਅਪਨਾ ਭਲਾ ਸਭ ਕਾਹੂ ਮੰਗਨਾ ॥੪॥
Apnā bẖalā sabẖ kāhū mangnā. ||4||
Everyone begs for their own good. ||4||
|
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
Sabẖ kicẖẖ ṯerā ṯūʼn karṇaihār.
Everything is Yours; You are the Creator Lord.
|
ਅੰਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
Anṯ nāhī kicẖẖ pārāvār.
You have no end or limitation.
|
ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Ḏās apne ka▫o ḏījai ḏān.
Please give this gift to Your servant,
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੫॥੯॥੭੮॥
Kabhū na visrai Nānak nām. ||5||9||78||
that Nanak might never forget the Naam. ||5||9||78||

ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਤ ਛੁਟਾਰਾ ॥
Anik jaṯan nahī hoṯ cẖẖutārā.
By all sorts of efforts, people do not find salvation.
|
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਆਗਲ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
Bahuṯ si▫āṇap āgal bẖārā.
Through clever tricks, the weight is only piled on more and more.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੇਤ ॥
Har kī sevā nirmal heṯ.
Serving the Lord with a pure heart,
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੇਤ ॥੧॥
Parabẖ kī ḏargėh sobẖā seṯ. ||1||
you shall be received with honor at God's Court. ||1||
