ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਨਾਗਰ ਜਨਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆਤ ਚੰਮਾਰੰ ॥
Nāgar janāʼn merī jāṯ bikẖi▫āṯ cẖamāraʼn.
O humble townspeople, I am obviously just a shoemaker.

ਰਿਦੈ ਰਾਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਨ ਸਾਰੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Riḏai rām gobinḏ gun sāraʼn. ||1|| rahā▫o.
In my heart I cherish the Glories of the Lord, the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||

ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਸਲਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਰੁਨੀ ਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਨੰ ॥
Sursarī salal kiraṯ bārunī re sanṯ jan karaṯ nahī pānaʼn.
Even if wine is made from the water of the Ganges, O Saints, do not drink it.

ਸੁਰਾ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਤ ਅਵਰ ਜਲ ਰੇ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਮਿਲਤ ਨਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਆਨੰ ॥੧॥
Surā apviṯar naṯ avar jal re sursarī milaṯ nėh ho▫e ānaʼn. ||1||
This wine, and any other polluted water which mixes with the Ganges, is not separate from it. ||1||

ਤਰ ਤਾਰਿ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਰੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਗਰਾ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੰ ॥
Ŧar ṯār apviṯar kar mānī▫ai re jaise kāgrā karaṯ bīcẖāraʼn.
The palmyra palm tree is considered impure, and so its leaves are considered impure as well.

ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਗਉਤੁ ਲਿਖੀਐ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰੇ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੰ ॥੨॥
Bẖagaṯ bẖāg▫uṯ likī▫ai ṯih ūpre pūjī▫ai kar namaskāraʼn. ||2||
But if devotional prayers are written on paper made from its leaves, then people bow in reverence and worship before it. ||2||

ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਟ ਬਾਂਢਲਾ ਢੋਰ ਢੋਵੰਤਾ ਨਿਤਹਿ ਬਾਨਾਰਸੀ ਆਸ ਪਾਸਾ ॥
Merī jāṯ kut bāʼndẖlā dẖor dẖovanṯā niṯėh banārsī ās pāsā.
It is my occupation to prepare and cut leather; each day, I carry the carcasses out of the city.

ਅਬ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਤਿਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਰਵਿਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੧॥
Ab bipar parḏẖān ṯihi karahi dand▫uṯ ṯere nām sarṇā▫e Raviḏās ḏāsā. ||3||1||
Now, the important Brahmins of the city bow down before me; Ravi Daas, Your slave, seeks the Sanctuary of Your Name. ||3||1||

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਤੇਊ ਜਨਾ ਪਦਮ ਕਵਲਾਸ ਪਤਿ ਤਾਸ ਸਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
Har japaṯ ṯe▫ū janā paḏam kavlās paṯ ṯās sam ṯul nahī ān ko▫ū.
Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord's Lotus Feet - none are equal to them.

ਏਕ ਹੀ ਏਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਸਥਰਿਓ ਆਨ ਰੇ ਆਨ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸੋਊ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ėk hī ek anek ho▫e bisathri▫o ān re ān bẖarpūr so▫ū. Rahā▫o.
The Lord is One, but He is diffused in many forms. Bring in, bring in, that All-pervading Lord. ||Pause||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਭਾਗਵਤੁ ਲੇਖੀਐ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਤਾਸ ਕੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਆਛੋਪ ਛੀਪਾ ॥
Jā kai bẖāgvaṯ lekẖī▫ai avar nahī pekẖī▫ai ṯās kī jāṯ ācẖẖop cẖẖīpā.
He who writes the Praises of the Lord God, and sees nothing else at all, is a low-class, untouchable fabric-dyer by trade.

ਬਿਆਸ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੀਐ ਸਨਕ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਨਾਮਨਾ ਸਪਤ ਦੀਪਾ ॥੧॥
Bi▫ās mėh lekẖī▫ai sanak mėh pekẖī▫ai nām kī nāmnā sapaṯ ḏīpā. ||1||
The Glory of the Name is seen in the writings of Vyaas and Sanak, throughout the seven continents. ||1||
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਈਦਿ ਬਕਰੀਦਿ ਕੁਲ ਗਊ ਰੇ ਬਧੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਾਨੀਅਹਿ ਸੇਖ ਸਹੀਦ ਪੀਰਾ ॥
Jā kai īḏ bakrīḏ kul ga▫ū re baḏẖ karahi mānī▫ah sekẖ sahīḏ pīrā.
And he whose family used to kill cows at the festivals of Eid and Bakareed, who worshipped Shayks, martyrs and spiritual teachers,

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਬਾਪ ਵੈਸੀ ਕਰੀ ਪੂਤ ਐਸੀ ਸਰੀ ਤਿਹੂ ਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਸਿਧ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
Jā kai bāp vaisī karī pūṯ aisī sarī ṯihū re lok parsiḏẖ kabīrā. ||2||
whose father used to do such things - his son Kabeer became so successful that he is now famous throughout the three worlds. ||2||
|
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਕੇ ਢੇਢ ਸਭ ਢੋਰ ਢੋਵੰਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਜਹੁ ਬੰਨਾਰਸੀ ਆਸ ਪਾਸਾ ॥
Jā ke kutamb ke dẖedẖ sabẖ dẖor dẖovanṯ firėh ajahu bannārsī ās pāsā.
And all the leather-workers in those families still go around Benares removing the dead cattle

ਆਚਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਕਰਹਿ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਤਨੈ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਾਨ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੨॥
Ācẖār sahiṯ bipar karahi dand▫uṯ ṯin ṯanai Raviḏās ḏāsān ḏāsā. ||3||2||
- the ritualistic Brahmins bow in reverence before their son Ravi Daas, the slave of the Lord's slaves. ||3||2||

ਮਿਲਤ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਨਾਥੁ ਕਵਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇ ॥
Milaṯ pi▫āro parān nāth kavan bẖagaṯ ṯe.
What sort of devotional worship will lead me to meet my Beloved, the Lord of my breath of life?

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sāḏẖsangaṯ pā▫ī param gaṯe. Rahā▫o.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have obtained the supreme status. ||Pause||
|
ਮੈਲੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਕਹਾ ਲਉ ਧੋਵਉ ॥
Maile kapre kahā la▫o ḏẖova▫o.
How long shall I wash these dirty clothes?
|
ਆਵੈਗੀ ਨੀਦ ਕਹਾ ਲਗੁ ਸੋਵਉ ॥੧॥
Āvaigī nīḏ kahā lag sova▫o. ||1||
How long shall I remain asleep? ||1||
|
ਜੋਈ ਜੋਈ ਜੋਰਿਓ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਫਾਟਿਓ ॥
Jo▫ī jo▫ī jori▫o so▫ī so▫ī fāti▫o.
Whatever I was attached to, has perished.
|
ਝੂਠੈ ਬਨਜਿ ਉਠਿ ਹੀ ਗਈ ਹਾਟਿਓ ॥੨॥
Jẖūṯẖai banaj uṯẖ hī ga▫ī hāti▫o. ||2||
The shop of false merchandise has closed down. ||2||
|
ਕਹੁ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਭਇਓ ਜਬ ਲੇਖੋ ॥
Kaho Raviḏās bẖa▫i▫o jab lekẖo.
Says Ravi Daas, when the account is called for and given,
|
ਜੋਈ ਜੋਈ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਦੇਖਿਓ ॥੩॥੧॥੩॥
Jo▫ī jo▫ī kīno so▫ī so▫ī ḏekẖi▫o. ||3||1||3||
whatever the mortal has done, he shall see. ||3||1||3||
