सचिआर सिख बहि सतिगुर पासि घालनि कूड़िआर न लभनी कितै थाइ भाले ॥
The truthful Sikhs sit by the True Guru's side and serve Him. The false ones search, but find no place of rest.
|
जिना सतिगुर का आखिआ सुखावै नाही तिना मुह भलेरे फिरहि दयि गाले ॥
Those who are not pleased with the Words of the True Guru - their faces are cursed, and they wander around, condemned by God.
|
जिन अंदरि प्रीति नही हरि केरी से किचरकु वेराईअनि मनमुख बेताले ॥
Those who do not have the Love of the Lord within their hearts - how long can those demonic, self-willed manmukhs be consoled?
|
सतिगुर नो मिलै सु आपणा मनु थाइ रखै ओहु आपि वरतै आपणी वथु नाले ॥
One who meets the True Guru, keeps his mind in its own place; he spends only his own assets.
|
जन नानक इकना गुरु मेलि सुखु देवै इकि आपे वखि कढै ठगवाले ॥१॥
O servant Nanak, some are united with the Guru; to some, the Lord grants peace, while others - deceitful cheats - suffer in isolation. ||1||
|
मः ४ ॥
Fourth Mehl:
|
जिना अंदरि नामु निधानु हरि तिन के काज दयि आदे रासि ॥
Those who have the treasure of the Lord's Name deep within their hearts - the Lord resolves their affairs.
|
तिन चूकी मुहताजी लोकन की हरि प्रभु अंगु करि बैठा पासि ॥
They are no longer subservient to other people; the Lord God sits by them, at their side.
|
जां करता वलि ता सभु को वलि सभि दरसनु देखि करहि साबासि ॥
When the Creator is on their side, then everyone is on their side. Beholding their vision, everyone applauds them.
|
साहु पातिसाहु सभु हरि का कीआ सभि जन कउ आइ करहि रहरासि ॥
Kings and emperors are all created by the Lord; they all come and bow in reverence to the Lord's humble servant.
|
गुर पूरे की वडी वडिआई हरि वडा सेवि अतुलु सुखु पाइआ ॥
Great is the greatness of the Perfect Guru. Serving the Great Lord, I have obtained immeasurable peace.
|
गुरि पूरै दानु दीआ हरि निहचलु नित बखसे चड़ै सवाइआ ॥
The Lord has bestowed this eternal gift upon the Perfect Guru; His blessings increase day by day.
|
कोई निंदकु वडिआई देखि न सकै सो करतै आपि पचाइआ ॥
The slanderer, who cannot endure His greatness, is destroyed by the Creator Himself.
|
जनु नानकु गुण बोलै करते के भगता नो सदा रखदा आइआ ॥२॥
Servant Nanak chants the Glorious Praises of the Creator, who protects His devotees forever. ||2||
|
पउड़ी ॥
Pauree:
|
तू साहिबु अगम दइआलु है वड दाता दाणा ॥
You, O Lord and Master, are inaccessible and merciful; You are the Great Giver, All-knowing.
|
तुधु जेवडु मै होरु को दिसि न आवई तूहैं सुघड़ु मेरै मनि भाणा ॥
I can see no other as great as You; O Lord of Wisdom, You are pleasing to my mind.
|
मोहु कुट्मबु दिसि आवदा सभु चलणहारा आवण जाणा ॥
Emotional attachment to your family and everything you see is temporary, coming and going.
|
जो बिनु सचे होरतु चितु लाइदे से कूड़िआर कूड़ा तिन माणा ॥
Those who attach their consciousness to anything except the True Lord are false, and false is their pride.
|
नानक सचु धिआइ तू बिनु सचे पचि पचि मुए अजाणा ॥१०॥
O Nanak, meditate on the True Lord; without the True Lord, the ignorant rot away and putrefy to death. ||10||
|
सलोक मः ४ ॥
Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
|
अगो दे सत भाउ न दिचै पिछो दे आखिआ कमि न आवै ॥
At first, he did not show respect to the Guru; later, he offered excuses, but it is no use.
|
अध विचि फिरै मनमुखु वेचारा गली किउ सुखु पावै ॥
The wretched, self-willed manmukhs wander around and are stuck mid-way; how can they find peace by mere words?
|
जिसु अंदरि प्रीति नही सतिगुर की सु कूड़ी आवै कूड़ी जावै ॥
Those who have no love for the True Guru within their hearts come with falsehood, and leave with falsehood.
|
जे क्रिपा करे मेरा हरि प्रभु करता तां सतिगुरु पारब्रहमु नदरी आवै ॥
When my Lord God, the Creator, grants His Grace, then they come to see the True Guru as the Supreme Lord God.
|
ता अपिउ पीवै सबदु गुर केरा सभु काड़ा अंदेसा भरमु चुकावै ॥
Then, they drink in the Nectar, the Word of the Guru's Shabad; all burning, anxiety, and doubts are eliminated.
|
सदा अनंदि रहै दिनु राती जन नानक अनदिनु हरि गुण गावै ॥१॥
They remain in ecstasy forever, day and night; O servant Nanak, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day. ||1||
|
मः ४ ॥
Fourth Mehl:
|
गुर सतिगुर का जो सिखु अखाए सु भलके उठि हरि नामु धिआवै ॥
One who calls himself a Sikh of the Guru, the True Guru, shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate on the Lord's Name.
|
उदमु करे भलके परभाती इसनानु करे अम्रित सरि नावै ॥
Upon arising early in the morning, he is to bathe, and cleanse himself in the pool of nectar.
|
उपदेसि गुरू हरि हरि जपु जापै सभि किलविख पाप दोख लहि जावै ॥
Following the Instructions of the Guru, he is to chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. All sins, misdeeds and negativity shall be erased.
|
फिरि चड़ै दिवसु गुरबाणी गावै बहदिआ उठदिआ हरि नामु धिआवै ॥
Then, at the rising of the sun, he is to sing Gurbani; whether sitting down or standing up, he is to meditate on the Lord's Name.
|
जो सासि गिरासि धिआए मेरा हरि हरि सो गुरसिखु गुरू मनि भावै ॥
One who meditates on my Lord, Har, Har, with every breath and every morsel of food - that GurSikh becomes pleasing to the Guru's Mind.
|
