ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
सुख सागरु अम्रितु हरि नाउ ॥
Sukẖ sāgar amriṯ har nā▫o.
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is the ocean of peace.

ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਪਸਾਉ ॥
मंगत जनु जाचै हरि देहु पसाउ ॥
Mangaṯ jan jācẖai har ḏeh pasā▫o.
The beggar begs for it; O Lord, please bless him, in Your kindness.

ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
हरि सति सति सदा हरि सति हरि सति मेरै मनि भावै जीउ ॥२॥
Har saṯ saṯ saḏā har saṯ har saṯ merai man bẖāvai jī▫o. ||2||
True, True is the Lord; the Lord is forever True; the True Lord is pleasing to my mind. ||2||

ਨਵੇ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਸ੍ਰਵਹਿ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ॥
नवे छिद्र स्रवहि अपवित्रा ॥
Nave cẖẖiḏar sarvėh apviṯrā.
The nine holes pour out filth.

ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
बोलि हरि नाम पवित्र सभि किता ॥
Bol har nām paviṯar sabẖ kiṯā.
Chanting the Lord's Name, they are all purified and sanctified.

ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਲੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
जे हरि सुप्रसंनु होवै मेरा सुआमी हरि सिमरत मलु लहि जावै जीउ ॥३॥
Je har suparsan hovai merā su▫āmī har simraṯ mal lėh jāvai jī▫o. ||3||
When my Lord and Master is totally pleased, He leads the mortal to meditate in remembrance on the Lord, and then his filth is taken away. ||3||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
माइआ मोहु बिखमु है भारी ॥
Mā▫i▫ā moh bikẖam hai bẖārī.
Attachment to Maya is terribly treacherous.
|
ਕਿਉ ਤਰੀਐ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥
किउ तरीऐ दुतरु संसारी ॥
Ki▫o ṯarī▫ai ḏuṯar sansārī.
How can one cross over the difficult world-ocean?
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
सतिगुरु बोहिथु देइ प्रभु साचा जपि हरि हरि पारि लंघावै जीउ ॥४॥
Saṯgur bohith ḏe▫e parabẖ sācẖā jap har har pār langẖāvai jī▫o. ||4||
The True Lord bestows the boat of the True Guru; meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, one is carried across. ||4||
|
ਤੂ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
तू सरबत्र तेरा सभु कोई ॥
Ŧū sarbaṯar ṯerā sabẖ ko▫ī.
You are everywhere; all are Yours.

ਜੋ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਈ ॥
जो तू करहि सोई प्रभ होई ॥
Jo ṯū karahi so▫ī parabẖ ho▫ī.
Whatever You do, God, that alone comes to pass.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧॥੭॥
जनु नानकु गुण गावै बेचारा हरि भावै हरि थाइ पावै जीउ ॥५॥१॥७॥
Jan Nānak guṇ gāvai becẖārā har bẖāvai har thā▫e pāvai jī▫o. ||5||1||7||
Poor servant Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; as it pleases the Lord, He bestows His approval. ||5||1||7||

Maaroo, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
हरि हरि नामु जपहु मन मेरे ॥
Har har nām japahu man mere.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind.
|
ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
सभि किलविख काटै हरि तेरे ॥
Sabẖ kilvikẖ kātai har ṯere.
The Lord shall eradicate all your sins.
|
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
हरि धनु राखहु हरि धनु संचहु हरि चलदिआ नालि सखाई जीउ ॥१॥
Har ḏẖan rākẖo har ḏẖan sancẖahu har cẖalḏi▫ā nāl sakẖā▫ī jī▫o. ||1||
Treasure the Lord's wealth, and gather in the Lord's wealth; when you depart in the end, the Lord shall go along with you as your only friend and companion. ||1||
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
जिस नो क्रिपा करे सो धिआवै ॥
Jis no kirpā kare so ḏẖi▫āvai.
He alone meditates on the Lord, unto whom He grants His Grace.

ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
नित हरि जपु जापै जपि हरि सुखु पावै ॥
Niṯ har jap jāpai jap har sukẖ pāvai.
He continually chants the Lord's Chant; meditating on the Lord, one finds peace.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਆਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर परसादी हरि रसु आवै जपि हरि हरि पारि लंघाई जीउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur parsādī har ras āvai jap har har pār langẖā▫ī jī▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By Guru's Grace, the sublime essence of the Lord is obtained. Meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, one is carried across. ||1||Pause||

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
निरभउ निरंकारु सति नामु ॥
Nirbẖa▫o nirankār saṯ nām.
The fearless, formless Lord - the Name is Truth.
|
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟੁ ਊਤਮ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
जग महि स्रेसटु ऊतम कामु ॥
Jag mėh saresat ūṯam kām.
To chant it is the most sublime and exalted activity in this world.
|
ਦੁਸਮਨ ਦੂਤ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਠੇਹ ਮਾਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
दुसमन दूत जमकालु ठेह मारउ हरि सेवक नेड़ि न जाई जीउ ॥२॥
Ḏusman ḏūṯ jamkāl ṯẖeh māra▫o har sevak neṛ na jā▫ī jī▫o. ||2||
Doing so, the Messenger of Death, the evil enemy, is killed. Death does not even approach the Lord's servant. ||2||
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
जिसु उपरि हरि का मनु मानिआ ॥
Jis upar har kā man māni▫ā.
One whose mind is satisfied with the Lord -
|
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
सो सेवकु चहु जुग चहु कुंट जानिआ ॥
So sevak cẖahu jug cẖahu kunt jāni▫ā.
that servant is known throughout the four ages, in all four directions.
|
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਕਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
जे उस का बुरा कहै कोई पापी तिसु जमकंकरु खाई जीउ ॥३॥
Je us kā burā kahai ko▫ī pāpī ṯis jamkankar kẖā▫ī jī▫o. ||3||
If some sinner speaks evil of him, the Messenger of Death chews him up. ||3||
|
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
सभ महि एकु निरंजन करता ॥
Sabẖ mėh ek niranjan karṯā.
The One Pure Creator Lord is in all.
|
ਸਭਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਪਣੇ ਚਲਤਾ ॥
सभि करि करि वेखै अपणे चलता ॥
Sabẖ kar kar vekẖai apṇe cẖalṯā.
He stages all His wondrous plays, and watches them.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਮਾਰੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
जिसु हरि राखै तिसु कउणु मारै जिसु करता आपि छडाई जीउ ॥४॥
Jis har rākẖai ṯis ka▫uṇ mārai jis karṯā āp cẖẖadā▫ī jī▫o. ||4||
Who can kill that person, whom the Lord has saved? The Creator Lord Himself delivers him. ||4||

ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਈ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
हउ अनदिनु नामु लई करतारे ॥
Ha▫o an▫ḏin nām la▫ī karṯāre.
I chant the Name of the Creator Lord, night and day.
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਭਗਤ ਸਭੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
जिनि सेवक भगत सभे निसतारे ॥
Jin sevak bẖagaṯ sabẖe nisṯāre.
He saves all His servants and devotees.

ਦਸ ਅਠ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਸਭਿ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੨॥੮॥
दस अठ चारि वेद सभि पूछहु जन नानक नामु छडाई जीउ ॥५॥२॥८॥
Ḏas aṯẖ cẖār veḏ sabẖ pūcẖẖahu jan Nānak nām cẖẖadā▫ī jī▫o. ||5||2||8||
Consult the eighteen Puraanas and the four Vedas; O servant Nanak, only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, will deliver you. ||5||2||8||

Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਡਰਪੈ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਨਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਮਰੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥
डरपै धरति अकासु नख्यत्रा सिर ऊपरि अमरु करारा ॥
Darpai ḏẖaraṯ akās nakẖ▫yaṯarā sir ūpar amar karārā.
The earth, the Akaashic ethers and the stars abide in the Fear of God. The almighty Order of the Lord is over the heads of all.

ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਡਰਪੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
पउणु पाणी बैसंतरु डरपै डरपै इंद्रु बिचारा ॥१॥
Pa▫uṇ pāṇī baisanṯar darpai darpai inḏar bicẖārā. ||1||
Wind, water and fire abide in the Fear of God; poor Indra abides in the Fear of God as well. ||1||
|
ਏਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ॥
एका निरभउ बात सुनी ॥
Ėkā nirbẖa▫o bāṯ sunī.
I have heard one thing, that the One Lord alone is fearless.
|
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਸੋ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सो सुखीआ सो सदा सुहेला जो गुर मिलि गाइ गुनी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
So sukẖī▫ā so saḏā suhelā jo gur mil gā▫e gunī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He alone is at peace, and he alone is embellished forever, who meets with the Guru, and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਦੇਹਧਾਰ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਡਰਪਹਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਡਰਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥
देहधार अरु देवा डरपहि सिध साधिक डरि मुइआ ॥
Ḏehḏẖār ar ḏevā darpahi siḏẖ sāḏẖik dar mu▫i▫ā.
The embodied and the divine beings abide in the Fear of God. The Siddhas and seekers die in the Fear of God.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੋਇਆ ॥੨॥
लख चउरासीह मरि मरि जनमे फिरि फिरि जोनी जोइआ ॥२॥
Lakẖ cẖa▫orāsīh mar mar janme fir fir jonī jo▫i▫ā. ||2||
The 8.4 millions species of beings die, and die again, and are born over and over again. They are consigned to reincarnation. ||2||
